All these last over finishes are very entertaining, but exposes the deficiencies in our cricket

This normally doesn't happen, but its happened too many times this season... These last over chokes.

It just exposes our inability to finish games off as players from Pakistan team... it has happened too many times..

How mentally fragile our players really are?

Surely you gotta finish it off after bringing the required run rate down from 11.6 to 7 in the last over...

Surely..

In that sense Afridi is the most mentally strong player we have in our lineup... the rest of the youngsters, and some experienced players are mental midgets?

Its becoming a bad habit isn't it ?

Yes I know Chris Jordan also choked out there but our tailenders are terrible batting in a clutch situation. I'd hit the roof if tonight's choke happened to the national side, but it HAS happened. Who can forget the final over choke vs Australia in 2014 ?

Hasan Ali seemed like he wanted to smack the ball out of the park than simply get bat on ball and at least take it to the Super Over.

Exactly, you gotta have the common sense to take it to the super over...

I understand why Jordan couldn't bat against spin, because he comes from England, but surely you gotta do this... this is below International standard... you will never find a buffoon like Wahab Riaz anywhere else in the world.. and he's done this twice against the same opponent, choked when the match was almost won

Look on the bright side, Nawaz defended 7.

Point is, chasing 7 in the last over these days is nothing in other leagues/International matches... why is this such a characteristic choke in Pakistan cricket?

Great entertainment value ofcourse no doubt about it... but shocking match awareness

Interesting words for someone who plays that shot with 8 runs required 8 balls.

When Afridi came to the crease the required rated was 9-10... (Not an Afridi fan btw)

The guy plays at a strike rate of almost 300... the required runs are now 8 runs of 8 balls...

You can't give it anymore on a plate than that..

Specially if you are chasing 200 in a t20... that is alot in a very short span of time...

Like Bishop said, the way Afridi was striking, he deserved a better finish

I'm just surprised no one sees the state of our players as a chasing unit...

There is no chasing culture in our lineup..

Sarfaraz knew that if Nawaz kept it tight, he knew he can build such a pressure that our batsmen/tail choke on their own...

That means even that has happened in our domestics number of times...

The chase culture is nonexistent in our cricket circuit, that is why when the pressure amps up, our players go bonkers

Just saying that it's easy to swing and go for big shots in that situation as that is what the situation calls for the odds are against you.

When the game turns back in your favor, and you require 8 off 8, the pressure then shifts over to you. Some would say playing that shot when you need 8 off 8 isn't showing mental strength.

So my thoughts when I was watching that game :

ok 7 required of 6 deliveries... hmmm Sammy and Jordan on strike game is done and dusted...

I tell myself this can't happen again, it will be ridiculous if it happens again this time, because you can't lose from winning positions, thats just not how its played at the International level

If Jordan gets out it might get a little interesting...

He does get out...

Our tail comes to bat...

The interesting part was not even did they come to bat, but they got out and wasted the delivery as well..

Both Hassan and Wahab were so under pressure they didn't even know what they were doing when they came out...

Hojata hai.. stop trying to make a mountain of a molehill

That doesn't happen anywhere else in the world.. but it definitely happens in Pakistan.. teams are very confident chasing totals down these days... This phobia of a run-a ball choke is characterstic of Pakistan cricket since the 90s..

And it carries forward with us to this day... IN cricket we are the biggest chokes of chasing totals in the world... South Africans tou becharay fuuzool kay badnaam hain

Its just these finishes are overrated, makes for great viewing once..but if they happen more than twice it points to psychological problems our players have in chasing..

We've had quite alot of them already, and those teams chasing totals down largely have been finished by foreign players...

Whenever a Pakistani is batting in a chase you can guarantee a choke is gonna happen..

Alot of players are mentally fragile in our side...

I think everyone knows the story of bani Israel and mano o salwa, we're that nation. Always crying about one thing or another. First everyone cried that matches were low scoring and boring and now we're crying over too many thrillers.

All hail Pakistani fans
