Kolkatta: As Pakistani and Indian teams jockeyed for position on the cricket pitch during the 2nd Test Match , it has come to light that another epic struggle of sorts was taking place in a different part of the ground. According to unnamed Police sources, the TV commentary team responsible for many many laughs to millions of viewers worldwide (and from time to time, a few expert comments), was placed under arrest after fighting broke out between some of its members.

Whereas details are still a little sketchy and unclear, TheSourceNews has learned that tensions which had been brewing among the team members, came to an ugly boil on the 5th day. Quoting anonymous sources in high places, our sources have told us that the problems began as far back as the 1st day of the 2nd test when one of the senior commentators from India , Ravi Shastri, reportedly "stole" Gulaab Jamans from the plate of Aamir Sohail, a newer member of the team while he was adjusting his bald patch.

Aamir, normally a paragon of mild manners and an unemotional kind of a chap, took exception to this kind of serious pilferage and immediately reported Shastri to Bengal Police. As a result, the Police arrested Shastri on charges of Jaman theft, a serious crime in Bengal. Although he was later released on bail, Shastri is reported to have harboured a grudge ever since that day.

This grudge and the mounting tension in the match then resulted in an ugly confrontation when during a commercial break for Pepsi (Yah Dil Mangay Aur) Shastri dipped Aamir's neck tie in "Masala Chai". Aamir responded by throwing a bowl of "Rasso Gulla" on Shastris shirt, thereby damaging his collectors item, Border-Gavaskar memorial tie pin. As the 2 commentators wrestled and came to blows, Ramiz Raja and Arun Laal joined in the melee resulting in multiple injuries to both. According to reports, the enraged combatants did not even spare fellow commentator Sanjay Manjrekar, who was stripped off his pink shirt and thrown in the nearby dustbin where he stayed until discovered by cleaning staff next morning.

Due to media restrictions, none of the involved were allowed to talk to the press but privately Ramiz Raja admitted that he was surprised by the picturesque intensity of Aruns attack on my hairful head. He attributed the attack to Aruns intense personal baldness and general lack of any redeeming features.

Aamir Sohail on his part was totally unhappy with the situation, he stated "These Indians have created the mighty commentary team but its lacking the vital ingredient - the good leadership that I had during my splendid time as Captain of The Pakistan. That brings me to the dumb Inzamams field placing which is very odd as he doesn't have all 12 fielders in the slips as an attacking captain should ". Unfortunately, Shastri could not be reached as he was busy consoling Manjrekar after his blue banyan ( undershirt ) with little red flowers was also torn apart in the mayhem.

Our Pakistan correspondent reports

News of this debacle was met with a collective sigh of relief as Pakistani fans, already traumatized by the home teams batting performance looked for a silver lining. As one fan put it, "Anything that can shut the whole lot of them for more than half a minute is of great use and appreciated". The fans did profess their concern for the condition of Manjrekars blue banyan with little red flowers. As the fans danced away the night to celebrate this great news, the feeling of euphoria accompanying this news soon evaporated like lassi on a hot day, when it was revealed that Aamir Sohail after serious chai burns to his only tie, was being relieved by another great voice of the past - Sarfraz Nawaz !
