Funeral ceremony for Martin Crowe held

He was a truly great batsman.

His Test average doesn't quite do him justice, but if you add "10" due to the span of his career in a lower scoring period you understand why those of us who have watched cricket for 40 years bracket him with Viv Richards, Barry Richards, Graeme Pollock, Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara as the greatest batsmen of the last 4 decades.

His birthday is today. He would have been 58 today. New Zealand's greatest batsman.

Carried a dead NZ team as well.

Crowe was my hero growing up, don't think the death of a sportsman will ever hit me as deeply as his passing. A man that had to fight so many personal demons to succeed, even his stoic approach to fighting cancer was an inspiration.
