But one should think of himself that why I am not rated similar to others in list. Why world not treat me like greats I'm the list

He's a great player and the void will only be felt after he's gone. ATG captain around the world.

It is a shame that Misbah isn't regarded as the one of the best captains to have played the game. The way he's led the pack after so many atrocities inflicted to Pakistan cricket and personal criticism - it is nothing short of remarkable. Takes Pakistan to No.1 despite not playing at home and missing it's premier fast bowler - Asif and Amir. In the end, even has his best bowlers, Ajmal and Hafeez banned but that still doesn't stop him from taking his team to the zenith.

And on top of that, his personal form has been great throughout. Gonna miss the legend.

Dude he started playing properly once he was well in his 30s. While the selectors, captains , mngmt tried a certain faisal iqbal a player like misbah was rotting away in domestics....

Bit by bit, he is getting that recognition. A lot of the SkySports broadcast centred on how good everyone thought Misbah was and how he not only set an example but was one of the premier captains.

I think the Pakistani media itself is a bit too reluctant to give someone without superstar quality that sort of recognition. They still long for the days of Khan, Miandad, Akram and Younis.

Everyone outside Pakistan has a tremendous amount of respect and admiration for Misbah, it's mainly Pakistanis that try to diminish his achievements.

In Pakistan too. Except this kind of stupidity:

It was expected that a hurt hater is going to come up with such a bizarre logic. :)))

Legendary company, great achievement. I think, in terms of wins as Captain, he is probably member of an even smaller elite group.

A wonderful ambassador of PAK cricket & I am happy that he'll be leaving with his head high.

It's true. Misbah earns a lot of praise and admiration outside Pakistan. Sadly, in Pakistan it's Afridi who is revered.

I've always been adamant that posterity will treat Misbah with great kindness and it will be well deserved. However, to say that it's only Pakistanis that try to diminish Misbah's achievements is perhaps a tad incorrect, as we all saw Misbah losing quite a bit of credit for the debacle in Australia particularly at Melbourne and Sydney. Ian Chappell was particularly scathing about his captaincy and how he handled Yasir Shah, which was downright shameful during that tour. I supported Misbah playing on till the winter as I think an Australian tour would have killed the career of a novice captain and I still stand by that, but Misbah nonetheless underperformed badly.

He is going down as one of Pakistans genuinely great players and captains.I've developed a bit of a soft corner for hin since Lords 2016

He has been good , but to be honest , did not develop any younger players , keept playing with almost same team in familiar conditions. No legacy made by him , just like what Inzamam did.

Other became captains at younger age,Misbah has done pretty late in his career congrats to the man.

Brilliant achievement. He stablised us after 2010 spot fixing scandal.

Hopefully he leaves on a high with a series win.

The best Pak Test captain ever. He did change the formula in how Pak usually plays by opting for a more defensive play to win games which has backfired quite badly a few times but then again he's won plenty of Tests for Pak and deserves to be recognised as one of the best Test captains in history of cricket since he's managed to grab the #1 Test mace.

lol at people trying to downplay Misbah's captaincy.

When he took over Pakistan hadn't won a test series in four years and that was with Amir and Asif still in the team, we have got some stupidly ungrateful fans.

Because I'm the best.

I'm kidding. Your opinion matters and I respect that. I just strongly disagree with it.

Haha scaaaaaaaared me ! phew

I agree Misbah was one of the best captains for Pak cricket. But ATG for internationally I don't know.
For example if ATG becomes a quite broad category then why Misbah , why not Afridi ? or why Not Inzamam or why Not Ganguly or Cook ? or Ranatunga or Waugh ? ....This would be an immensely big ATG group
List a criteria and compare that to international standards

Misbah: a great captain, an exceptional human being, a true sportman, a good enough player. unfortunately his ability as a player the lack of sparkle is what ticks some in pakistan... having said that it was his lack of sparkle the consistent work ethics what was the need of the hour ... two things i would say i wished were different about misbah!
a) little more attacking mindset
b) nurturing new talent!

Is Imran Khan an ATG captain?

I respect Misbah as a skipper even more than I do Imran.

The latter had a gun quick in himself, and later two more in W&W. Misbah has not had these luxuries.
