The Australia allrounder has been fined for his comments regarding teammate Matthew Wade
Australia allrounder Glenn Maxwell has been hit with a team imposed fine for his comments towards teammate Matthew Wade. Maxwell took aim at Wade on Thursday when asked why he was batting behind the Victorian captain in the Sheffield Shield. “I think probably batting below the wicketkeeper is also a bit painful,” Maxwell said on Thursday.

“The wicketkeeper should be batting at seven unless you're trying to squeeze an extra bowler into your line-up." Australia captain Steve Smith revealed on Saturday that Maxwell had received a fine from his teammates for his comments. "Everyone was disappointed in his comments," Smith said on Saturday. Quick Single: No hundreds cost Maxwell: Lehmann "I've expressed that with him myself. "One of our values is respect and having respect for your teammates, opposition, fans and media. "I thought what he said was very disrespectful to a teammate and his Victorian captain. "The leadership group got together and decided to fine Glenn. "We thought that was a sufficient punishment."
