GM DXM Flare

Thinking of buying this DXM FLARE bat took some pics of it, what do you guys think shall i buy it? Grade A willow from jjb sports

How much is it ? 55 Pounds right?

I saw JJB's website online and the prices they have for there bats is amazing! Really very good bargains they have got for mid-range stuff.

Other which I would say are one to watch are Puma Iridium/Kinetic 2000/3000/4000

This Flare looks decent and I would recommend you buying it, just test the ping too!

Definitely 55 is very good for this bat and it is absolutely worth it, have a look at the link below it is of 606 which is a model below 707 and look at its price;

Flare is a very good shape and its a very good bat. It will take time to open up though but I am sure you will not be disappointed, have a hit with the mallet at the store to check its rebound.

If I were instead of you I would have definitely bought it.

Thanks CD i'll go and buy it tomorrow what about oiling it? its got scuff sheet on front so wouldnt be able to?

It will need to be oiled, just oil the back and expose wood lightly, don't oil it too much though. No need to take the sheet off the front.

Ah okay, then really this is best bat for 55 quids.

Talking about grains, etc. How IMPORTANT are they? I have heard ke jitne zaida grains, utna acha maal

But is this ALWAYS? Can a bat with 5 grains be better than a bat with 9 grains?

I don't think grains are that important really. Yes, a 5 grains bat be better than one with 9 grains.

It is not necessary the greater the grains better the bat will be, there is no guarantee. Grains are not performance based.

I was watching a documentary on Discovery and they were showing how GM bats were made, and the head of the factory said that grains were the most important factor, in how good a bat will perform?

Bats with more grains will perform straight away but will not last as long (12+ grains)

Bats with less grains will take a while to play in and get going, but once they do they are generally better bats and will last longer too (7-10 grains)

The more grains a bat has, the older the tree was and will play great from the start but will also be weaker over a period of time.

Grains play a part, but it's more to do with whether you want a bat that will be great from the start and you can afford to buy another when it breaks/stops performing, or, if you want a bat that you will have to play in and will reach the same if not better playabilty than one with more grains and also has the advantage of lasting longer
