It's never nice being on the opposing side and we of all people know what that feels like. And I like a bit of banter but also want to be the bigger person in this moment so on behalf of Pakistan we want to thank you all for an amazing game! it takes two teams to create the greatest sporting event of all time! nothing compares to an India v Pakistan game ;)

To be honest, in my expectations, you would have been the last person to be the bigger person lol.

Banter aside, it was a good effort. With new blood, Pakistani team looks refresh. It was a good tournament and you guys deserved to be the champion.

Till next time we meet, congratulations.

Thanks man,and congrats to you and other Pak posters as well, well deserved win and some good memories for upcoming young Pakistani fans, memories to cherish!!

Sadly the opposite here :P,but luckily i lived through 90's so i know how to handle it :yk

:)) Thanks mate, I never mean any harm but love all the feuds and hype; cricket is India v Pakistan!

That Pandya guy is one hell of a prospect!

Thanks.

Fantastic batting by Pakistan. If you had told me at the start of the game that one team would score 340/4 and the other would be reeling at 55/5 chasing it I would never have guessed that we'd be on the losing side.

Congratulations for winning the Champions Trophy.

True! I don't see you as one of the fans who would leave the ground, there were still a few left at the end even during MOM ceremony! that was you! :))

Great occasion! and loved the atmosphere, both fans are the most passionate in the world no doubt

No, India didn't play well at all. We have got players who should have been shown door long time ago.

Yes we are among the best teams right now. This loss changes nothing.
This loss was because of
1) Good performance by Pakistan
2) Very poor captancy by Virat PHATTU kholi.
3) Very poor team selection by management and Kohli.
4) Bad luck.
But no problem, we are still the better team overall.

Why does it matter, zilch it matters who is the better team,Aus is a better team I don't care who is a better team,we lost to PCT in a final of ICC tournament.

TBH India played like Pakistan and Pakistan played like India. India is still an excellent side, they were just unfortunate to cross paths with a Pakistan that was hungry and baying for blood.

Don't know about others..but I only follow Hockey and Football. Can anyone tell me what is the excitement about? Did something happen in a sport which I don't follow?

Our middle order is non existent with over expiry date players in Yuvi and dhoni at very crucial positions. Indians were wary of this from the beginning and it had to happen in the finals. But before that some surprisingly good batting display by Pakistan. The intent was the key. Right from the beginning they played with an intent. Congrats pakistani fans.

One bad game doesnt change what India has accomplished past few years this decade. Pardon our jealousy of kohli and dhoni sometimes gets the better of us in banter... but im glad we finally had a good day at the office!!! Go pakistan!

Congrats Pakistani team Fans, clinical performance today. Well deserved.

As far as india, time to let go of baggage and blood in new faces, WC ain't any far away. Dhoni, Yuvi all wonderful players is past, must be gracefully dropped for Pant, Samson, Manish Pandey and likes. Jaddu is also not good enough, I have seen him bottle a lot under pressure.

Bhuvi and Pandya are great for us and hopefully will do even better in future.

Thanks mate..

Congrats to Pakistani team on winning the CT..what a wonderful performance by your team silencing all the critics through their performance.. I truly believe Pakistan team has the potential to continue this performance till the WC 2019 and be strong contenders..

India on the other hand has to analyse on a lot of areas.. Hopefully this loss triggers a change where youngsters are groomed slowly into the team and over the hill seniors are gradually phased out..

BS if we can't dominate cricket we will always remain mediocre in sports..

I am little annoyed by the fact that apart from Pandya's cameo, India was mostly mediocre in today's game. Would have been an awesome game if they could give their 100% aswell.

Well played Team India, thank you for such a memorable champions trophy. This was probably the best Champions Trophy in the history of the tournament

Congrats shaz619 and all the others in PP. You guys deserved this win for being bold and aggressive. This is the scariest Pakistan team I've seen since 1999. Anyway we needed this reality check. I'll be more than happy if some "seniors" are kicked out and some fresh blood is brought in after this debacle. Also this should be a reminder to the IPL shoopershtars that international cricket is a different ball game and deserves its own respect. Loads of introspection needed for us but anyway taking nothing away from your win.

:salute

That's a nice gesture brother, but I still think Indian cricket is nearing a crisis similar to that of 2006-07. We have been ignoring our mistakes for a year now, these small achievements like Asia cup win, CT final means nothing if we can not go to the root cause

All of them failed even in IPL 2017 :P

Massive Congratulations Pakistan and all their supporters. Day and night they have been opening threads and discussing the strategies and the team lived up to their expectations.

Wish Pakistan a great success with this team.

I was actually impressed with the Indian squad. They have great batting depth..and the bowling has been the best I've seen during my lifetime. They still need one really good QUICK bowler. Maybe Shami is the answer or one of the other guys but they need one guy who is potent and can produce match winning spells. While India does having a batting superstar culture..if they change their perspective they can build a good fast bowling superstar down to road.

Agreed.

And Pandya looks like a fantastic prospect for IND. Their version of Ben Stokes.

Lots of positives for them to take out of this tournament. As usual, IND-PAK games lead people to forget the bigger picture on the losing side.

When the sun rises again, IND will still have a world-class batting line, good spinners, and a brilliant all-rounder prospect.

Plus it could be a lot worse, you could be South African. :yk

WOW, Shazzy being Clazzy, never expected such kind words.. :D..

Congrats to Pakistan, they just were hungrier, last time we were this hungry was 2011.

We had a MEDIOCRE game ..

I feel the huge volume of tests burned out VK, Ash and Jaddu . Also VK's captiancy is great for tests, where he attacks and takes the initiative all the time, but in ODI, for India's style of play, MSD's style was better.

I feel Kohli will keep going to MS as long as he's in the team, and won't improve own his own. That has to change somehow.

We have far too many talented youngsters in the ranks, waiting for a go, so the seniors must be given deadlines and we must groom them before 2019. Developing Pant, Kuldeep etc must be top priority.

Crying is normal, but don't tell me again that only Pakistani fans be breakin their tv sets.

Thanks Shaz, your team deserves the trophy.

For India, everything that can possibly go wrong went wrong- No balls, wides, missed run outs, the initial inside edges, poor captaincy, batting and even the bails were not getting dislodged even after getting hit at a decent force :O Hope the team is able to fine tune the minor but crucial aspects and be better prepared for the next ICC event.

Congratulations to Pakistan.. From being dark horses to becoming the champions you guys played some brilliant cricket.

teams in cricket today are very weak, no doubt india has the best ODI team on paper, it has the best batting lineup and some good bowlers like bumrah and kumar etc, but no team and i say no team can have the team of the 90s

ICC policies have made teams less competitive and weak, and thts the reason why pakistan young team thrashed all big teams

just look at the situation of zimbabwe and west indies

except india and pakistan no other country takes cricket seriously any more, they are more concentrated towards making a good football team

pakistan could have as good a team as india if PCB was a lot less corrupt and much more organised like BCCI

Then you would become more like India and loose your penchant for unpredictability and those passionate fightbacks.

More order will lead to a more clinical but slightly bland team (like us) . The only team that produces tough , fighting yet explosive cricketers with an orderly system are actually Australia. And that is due to having the toughest domestic system around and a sporting culture. . India's system is tough, but it only leads to brilliant batsmen coming out .

Not just tests. The core of this team has been playing cricket continuously over the past year across all formats. They need to start prioritising matches/formats etc

Actually our volume of ODI's was quite less compared to ususal Indian standards.

But for India, I feel Kohli is already taking a lot of heat as captain, have to relieve him of atleast one format .

For me the only team which deserves any credit or go back from this tournament with positives is Pak .

India did nothing of note in the tournament , we go back with more questions than answers . Dhawan and Virat carried the team to finals along with Bhuvi and Bumrah . Pandya is the only big positive . So you the remaining 6 spots can be questioned . its been a while we have looked so unsettled , will have to go back to late 90s .

Let's be honest here.

India is a top class team. And I don't want another match against them any time soon because I want to cherish this sweet victory against them for a while.

But I can't take this talk anymore. I keep on hearing that India did well to reach the finals and should be proud of it. Even Kohli said it in post match ceremony and with all due respect to him and his classy composer, I have to disagree.

You could say the only thing of note they did was to beat South Africa. And we all know SA track record in big tournaments. They lost to #7 ranked Sri Lanka and had two easy matches against their historic bunnies, in ICC tournaments, Pakistan and Bangladesh. And in the big game when it really mattered, they got thrashed by Pakistan.

To be brutally honest, I fail to see any heroics by them in this tournament.

They were never really tested against the top sides and never actually showed a strong fight when things weren't going their way.

ODIs yes. But then we have the same guys playing ODIs,T20's,Tests,IPL and then being burnt out by the time of an ICC tournament.

Quite right... Let us hope India losing doesn't become a trend... then I may have to give up cricket for hockey :)

Very well played by Pakistan, especially its young players. Congratulations again!

Wow 😳 That was a lovely gesture coming from shaz? Anyhow congrats and as mentioned you deserved it defeating the best team of the tournament in the semifinals

Gracio

Absolutely gracious man. Congrats to Pakistan team for a mind blowing performance. I hope both side posters see this thread and stop the mindless trolling going forward.

India are a top team. World Class

I feel Yuvi Dhoni and Jaddu don't belong anymore. Bring on Pant KL Rahul.

What helped India is their players know how to play according to the conditions. They are adept. Look at Bangladesh. At home our pace bowling is just too damn good at times given the conditions, but when it comes to favorable conditions for pace bowling our bowlers goes missing.

India bowlers can maximize any pitch in the world, and some world class batsman. Fielding isnt great though.

One had proved they were a formidable side the other (Pakistan)were more hungry and had to prove it was the Champion team when it matters.

It was a mistake to play the spinners. They may get wickets but may also get hit. No idea why Yadav was dropped when his figures for June 4th was 7.4-0-30-3.

Yuvi, Dhoni and maybe Rohit are past it. There are batsmen like Iyer, Rahul, Sampson, Pant, Pandey, etc. waiting.

Yes and this loss in the final of a major tournament may be a blessing in disguise for India. It will help to sway public opinion that it is time for the seniors to hang their boots. But can India do an Australia and remove all of the deadwood from the team remains to be seen.

I don't think Kohli and Kumble take defeat lightly, so there will be a reaction. Part of India's problem is the super performance by Dhoni and Yuvi in that ODI against England where they each scored a century and punched their ticket to the CT.

Public opinion probably doesn't affect much, but this loss should definitely cause some much-needed changes in the team.

The manner of the defeat hurts. Pakistan being better on a day would have been fine with me, but India losing their cool altogether is what hurts. Look at the number of Extras and missed run outs in the first innings as well as the panic during the 2nd innings.

One positive that may result is that going forward we may finally see the middle order revamped in preparation for the WC19. Yuvi and Dhoni making way for Pant and some other guys finally. Really, cannot afford both Ashwin and Jadeja in LOIs together. Jadeja can continue for his electric fielding but will need to blood in Kuldeep Yadav/Krunal Pandya as the other spinner.

1) KL Rahul
2) Shikhar Dhawan /Rohit Sharma
3) Virat Kohli
4) Pandey/Iyer .... etc. etc.
5) Hardik Pandya
6) Rishabh Pant
7) Krunal Pandya (I hear he is an even better bat than Hardik)
8) Ravindra Jadeja/Ashwin - Would prefer Jadeja, but Ashwin can come in if he promises not to be a darter
9) Bhuvaneswar Kumar
10) Mohammad Shami
11) Umesh Yadav/Kuldeep Yadav depending on context

If India had won the final, I can bet my *** that Dhoni/Yuvi would have continued till WC19 and beyond. I have been a fan of these two. But we have to realize that there are other options available that can serve India better. These guys have been awesome, but there is an expiry date to everything.

Good effort India, you did well to get to the CT final and your team remains one of the best but you got an epic phanti from a younger Pakistani team that you won't soon forget

Well the coach has resigned so this may be a sign for things to come. Removing ATG can sometimes be a process. After what happened in the final, it may have brought us closer to seeing the backs of players who once made India proud.

Will you be dropping Dhoni and Yuvraj moving forward? I think they will play until 2019 and the legends deserve a big send off although it may be wise to bring in newbies, think they still have a lot of fight left in them these old war horses
