The Australian side that went on to win three consecutive World Cups have produced some of the greatest odi cricketers of all time. But who was the most standout of all?

Adam Gilchrist
Ricky Ponting
Michael Beven
Glenn McGrath
Shane Warne

And where does Mitchell Starc stands as of now?

If you have to rank them in order, how would you credit them for their achievements?

McGrath for me. Was always one of the top 3 fast bowlers going around even till the very end which is rare for pace bowlers. The impact he had being the undisputed best paceman for the country is unparalleled.

Best Batsman - Ponting
Best Fast Bowler - Mcgrath
Best Spinner - Warne

But the greatest ever is Ricky Ponting, brilliant batsman, best ever ODI fielder and best ever captain

More to go:

Best finisher- Bevan
Best wicket keeper- Gilly

And then I am leaving out Lee who was an ATG bowler in odis.

Best ever cricketer has to be Ponting. ATG batsman, ATG fielder and a very good captain.

I would have selected Mcgrath ahead of Ponting but he was a below average fielder and a poor batsman.

I love Ponting

But has to be McGrath

Ponting was the captain of the greatest Aus team not the greatest Aus captain. If he was a great captain would had won a cup without Mcgrath as well.

Mcgrath retired with a Mos in WC but as a player Ponting defn top 3-4.

Lee : 221 odis, 380 wkts, sr-29

McGrath :25 1 odis, 381 wkts, sr-34

Only in rr McGrath was better. 3.5 to 4,5 but McGrath started in an earlier era

McGrath, only Aussie player who performed every time, whether it was a bilateral, meaning less odi or world cup legue match and then in knockouts also.
Gilly didn't performed well in league matches or other knockouts apart from finals.
Only bowler to take over 70 wickets in world cup.

Yes thats why i said "very good captain" not a "great" captain.

As an overall ODI cricketer Ponting contributed more to the team than Mcgrath. Mcgrath was a beast too and i'll rank him second.

Michael Bevan. Nobody has saved his team and won so many matches on his own than him.

Bevan always played a fabulous inning when the likes of Ponting and Gilchrist failed.

Michael Bevan for me.
I am not a stats guy so will go by what I saw.
When we were young we didnt have cable tv in our home so could not follow all of Aus matches.
But every time I watched an Aus match Bevan came to the rescue and led Aus to victory.

Mark Waugh also deserves to be somewhere in that list. For me it's McGrath,Ponting,Gilly, augh,Bevan in that order.

Gilchrist? Seriously?

McGrath
Warne
Ponting
Bevan
Lee
Symonds
Starc

There are/ were so many better than him

Andrew Symonds.

He's a Brummie therefore the best by default.
