"Haris Sohail is best ever left-handed middle-order Pakistani batsman" : Mohammad Yousuf

Haris is EASILY the second best LOI bat in Pakistan after Bobby.

I do not believe the hype of the Zeeshan Maliks, Haider Alis and Abdullah Shafiques of the world. First they have to get selected and prove their mettle. We have had such amazing performances from youngsters in domestics before as well, only for them to turn out to be Ahmed Shehzad and Umar Akmal. The problem is folks are seeing this new crop live hence they are going gaga over them.

Let's not forget how Harry performed in the 2019 WC.

Haider ali is defo on a.another level to shezard and umar akmal.zeeshan malik is talented has the shots but he seems like Imran nazir abit brainless needs to work on his temperament.as for abdullah he has a proper technique and plays spin as well as pace

Long term team

Imaam
Haider
Babar
Abdullah shafique
Khushdil
Rohail.nazir muhammed harris
Shadab
Imad
Shaheen
Rauf
Akif

Babar and Haris are the present and future of Pakistan's ODI batting. Haris's fitness is the only thing holding him back because when it comes to talent and technique there are few better than him in the entire country.

I have! Here’s my team:

1. Haider Ali
2. Imam ul Haq / Fakhar Zaman
3. Babar Azam (c)
4. Abdullah Shafiq
5. Mohammad Rizwan / Rohail Nazir (wk)
6. Iftikhar Ahmed / Haris Sohail / Khushdil Shah
7. Imad Wasim
8. Shadab Khan (vc)
9. Mohammad Amir / Hasan Ali / Mohammad Hasnain / Naseem Shah
10. Haris Rauf
11. Shaheen Afridi

If defo have rohail ahead of rizwan if both Abdullah and babar play at 3 and 4 and also wouldnt have amir if this is for the next 50 over world cup

Agreed but hence why he doesnt get into my team if I have to include harris then il have to include sharjeel

There has been zero List A domestic matches played by these two though Haider Ali played some Pakistan emerging matches. On what basis they should be selected for ODIs?

Tell me any quality T2O top order batsman that isn't good in ODIs? If you can play well T20 cricket at the top then ODI becomes pretty easy for you.

You misunderstand- you can make the selections on basis of T20 performances, but you can’t develop the team.

To develop a 2023 winning team, that team should actually play matches together.

He has the talent and ability, believe me this is a rare case with Pakistan batter these days. His problem is he seems to have a shocking attitude towards fitness and lacks intensity. He just seems to go through the motions and often gives it away at 30/40.

PCB have blood on their hands for not selecting him straight after the 2011 WC when it was clear he was ready. But he also has to take some responsibility for when he has had the chances he hasn't always made the most of it.

Well he could have been, but a stop-start career with injuries and fitness issues has not helped at all.

I was saying this a year ago. We need to be clear about our long-term vision and Haris Sohail doesn’t even fit into the short-term vision. His fitness and knee issues as well as lack of form together indicate that he probably won’t play the two T20I world cups (not even around the T20 team right now) or the 2023 ODI world cup. He doesn’t have the stamina to play Test cricket, and even if he did, his string of low scores continues for over a year. Why waste time trying to “develop” him?

Not sure how this became a thing. As far as Test cricket is concerned Haris’ only contribution I can recall are soft 30s scored in ENG in 2018.

He did not tour SAF and was woefully exposed in AUS. His 30s in ENG had a fair share of streaky runs between 3rd/4th slip and gully. I was hoping that he would have toured SAF and then ENG this year to have this myth put to bed for good.

Before I get on to the topic of weight, injuries, attitude and presence/body language - isn’t his technique quite transparent in the sense that he plays far away from the body and is liable to not just nick the ball in the event of bounce/movement, but also to play his drives in the air?

Now the weight (for everyone to see), injuries (unlucky sure), attitude (altogether “Harri bhai” is indifferent towards life on planet Earth and happy to merrily plod along as he has been doing. Bus, Chalta Hai attitude), presence (about as focussed and zoned in as Yasir Shah’s pregnant belly - the guy could be out on a stroll of Mall Road Murree or inspecting Halwa Poori Vendors on Sunday for how he conducts himself on the ground).

Look, PP has enough smart people. Really hoping this guy can “prove me wrong” or whatever that means. A soft 50 (stroked through the slip cordon) will not do. If he has any mettle, will need to score big and show us what this talent is.

Otherwise, this series should be Azhar, Fawad, Haris and Yasir’s “swansong”. Naseem back to playing 4-day, ideally abroad. Abid back to a local corner shop to say “Uncle, Uncle, Chips kitne ke hain?”.

This is an anonymous forum. The least we can do is not kid ourselves, as we are not in any pressure to talk up Pakistan’s prospects. Let’s be honest for a change.

Harris Sohail is probably world's most unfit test player. Does not look like a sportsman at all.

Well he could have been, but a stop-start career with injuries and fitness issues has not helped at all.

It's too late now.

He is at least 31, has the body of a 40 year old and has scored less runs in the last 5 years than Saud Shakeel has scored this season.

There is literally no point selecting him. If he does well on the rest of the NZ tour it will just delay the much-needed transition.

Rayyman Haris out now for 9

That was such a lazy shot, so so bad.

They have brought in cover a little just for that shot.

The pitch is a bit 2 paced and you play a nice friendly cover drive straight into that fielder's hands.

I mean what was he thinking. Do these guys not look at where the fielders are.

Yousuf really narrowed it down with middle-order in there. Thankfully he didn't go Faisal Iqbal and say Haris was the best ever left-hander :lara

I think MoYo may have been smoking some dope when he made this comment.

Well, well, well.... all Haris Sohail threads coming to roost today. This really should be it from him.

Either MoYo missed his performance in ENG (2018) or Haris oils up to MoYo, something I would not put past MoYo. Even so, would be good to get MoYo’s opinion post AUS and NZD.
