Haris Sohail played his last FC match in Jan 2014; Why are people considering him a certain starter?

I am a bit baffled

Everyone is putting him in the team

He hasnt played SINGLE First class match for almost FOUR years!!!

Well he is in the squad, that's something that should have been taken into account before selecting him in the squad. Now that is in, he seems like the best amongst the available options.

Also its not like he has played zero cricket in all this time. He was raking up the runs in grade 2 cricket not too long ago.

because he is the 3rd best bat pakistan has ever produced after Miandad and Babar, look at his performances in CWC so early on, his hunger to come back after a career ending injury, his technique.

really. you are selling some great batsman like Younis, Yosuf, Inzi, Saeed Anwar, and even Misbah short here. Harris looks good, but certainly looking good is not the only criteria. Actual performance on the ground should match his "Potential". Looking at the FC stats and given enough opportunities, Usman has a better chance of being a good batsman who can hold the middle order together for Pakistan. Forget about the greats i mentioned above i would be very surprised if Harris ends up with at least as good stats as Asad Shafiq, who himself has a very average stats

Harris need to start. Reason simply is UAE is our home ground at the moment and this is the best chance to have him introduce in the lineup. He was for sure started before he got injured. He needs to be in the playing eleven in both the test and then we can decide where he stands.

Should have been Fawad instead of Haris.

Nothing against Haris but he needs to be reintegrated in the side on the basis of performing in domestic cricket first as to why have domestic if you would just pick a player to walk into international after 4 years of no cricket.

He was in the team test team when he got injured. Before that was a regular in odi team in 2014 and 2015 so couldn't play FC.

He was injured in this time but now he is fit and in touch (2 centuries in 3 matches in grade 2) so back. Don't see anything wrong in that.

Haris is the Don of new era. OP should know it better. How dare he ask this questions? And thank God he didnt question his selection in the first place.

I rate Haris, he definitely has potential to a mainstay in the national team but the adage "absence makes the heart grow fonder" seems to apply in this case. The longer he's been out, the more he's been hyped to the moon on here.

Haris delivered in a world cup on his debut tour of OZ.

Way better than the engimas of Amin and Fawad who are incompetent club level batters with technique issues.

No he didn't. Haris averaged 29 in the 2015 World Cup, and that's inflated by a 70 against the UAE.

I get the impression that both Inzi and Mickey Arthur like him and rate him highly.

He also made the Champions Trophy squad without much form.

Easily the best batter after Babar.

based on what- your personal opinion??

Shafiq and Sarfraz may not be much but they've scored runs around the world in some pretty tough spots.

calling a guy who is yet to play a test better than them is major disrespect

regardless, the last starter spot will be between Usman and Haris, and I think its 50-50 about whom it goes to
