Misbah speaking about Pakistan's upcoming series:

"For any team, especially Asian sides, these [English] conditions are very tough"

"Its not going to be easy for Pakistan; they have a young side but they have potential"

"No matter what the final result [of this series], it is a good chance for this young team; just like they went to the Champions Trophy where they played to their potential and won the trophy"

"So I think this is a good chance for the Pakistan Test side"

"If they can make a stand and win this series, then in the future, they will have very little problems"

"It always takes time to develop a side, especially when you have [experienced] players leaving and it all depends on how you cope with that loss"

"We have a few players and I always mention them, like Azhar Ali, Asad Shafiq and Sarfaraz Ahmed who have been part of the Test side - there contribution will be very important"

"It also depends on the younger players like Haris Sohail who performed really well last year; I think he will be key and it is also a good chance for other younger players too"

"The England series for any player is a great opportunity [to impress]"

"If you perform well there, then it becomes very easy for you to perform at an international level"

"Obviously, as a captain, his [Sarfaraz's] role will be an important one"

"He is one of the few batsmen [in our team] who has good average in Tests and had also played around the world"

Technically Haris is pretty solid, the only problem is that an injury is never too far away.

I'd bat him at number 6 in the Tests against Ireland and England.

Is there a source for this interview? I have noticed while we source articles, we never source interviews.

Should bat no. 3 in my opinion. That’s where you need technically sound batsman

Sami/Fakhar
Azhar
Harris
Babar/Saad ali/Usman
Shafiq
Sarfraz
Shadab
Faheem
Amir
Hasan
Abbas

Should be XI and order in my opinion

I remember nasir Hussain completely dissecting Harris sohails technique on sky a few years ago especially him going at the ball in the forward defensive with hard heads on bouncy wickets. I wonder with if he’s improved much in his time away from the team. In any case I’m dying to see if he really is one of the best players in Pakistan

I hope he scores one century at least as he is a exceptional player with the ability to play any kind of bowling, will be a interesting battle between him and Anderson.

Haris Sohail is still new at the international level, so I will reserve my judgement till he actually plays on the tour. I believe all the 6-7 batsman will be crucial for Pakistan especially the experienced ones.

He is the best batter after Babar. Just a shame injuries got in the way.

Goodness if we're relying on haris we really dont have much of a chance do we..

Do you mean in tests or odi’s?

I don’t think much of odi’s but yes babar is excellent and Harris may be good but I think misbah is talking about tests. There isn’t much to say except let’s wait and see

No, Azhar is the best batsman in pakistani team. How pakistan will perform is depend on azhar's form.

Yes, and umar is the talent of the Asia. He played only 2 test, May i know any innings of his in swinging conditions?? Madplayer babajee

I see my Indian brethren didn't like the fact that Haris is THE BEST player of fast bowling in Asia.

We are talking about tests, and yes Haris is right up there as a batter against seam, swing and express pace bowling. Arguably the best in world... Thora pull aur hook shot ka problem hai when accelerating in odis but he can easily duck those deliveries in tests.

Yes in tests.. Which is that great innings played by him.. That guy has played couple if tests in UAE and you are saying he is the best test batter in swinging conditions.. Wow for the delusion. He may well turn out to be a great player. He is not one now

I like watching Haris bat. Always tends to get out playing silly shots after settling in. Is fluent and easy on the eye.

I don't like glory hunting nor am I a fair weather fan k when someone starts performing I start singing his praises and ridicule him in case of bad patch. Where is talent identification then? There is something called eye. You can surely disagree with me and point his flaws against fast bowling but as far as I have seen he certainly belongs amongst the best when it comes to playing seam, swing and express pace bowling in tests (from that i mean the longer version of the game). PCB wasted his 5 peak years (2011-2015), not his fault!

So Babar Azam not being rated much in Tests.

yes, so far has been very quiet in tests.. Will be interested to see how Haris and Babar do in this tour...Because these two are the ones Mickey is looking at to be the mainstay of the batting unit for Pakistan in the next 5-10 years...they cant fail in tests and do well in ODIs, if it so then Mickey has a very big problem to fix.

yes he can play but he needs to score hundreds, more 100s, 150s, and 200s as that will be the difference between an ATG and one season sensation.

Right now it all depends on the Azhar's form and how much he scores..

Opening with Azhar is always and still the best option...

first let him get few hundreds in some format against international teams.. then we will see

Could be, only if his fragile body holds up.

Agreed with captain here. He alongwith Azhar will be our main stays

I worry about his back foot game, which is good for bouncy tracks but not for early spring conditions in England. He has potential of been caught on crease more often than we would like in seaming conditions :(

Even though Haris is a good player, Pakistan's' fortunes will depend hugely on Azhar Ali and Asad Shafiq.

Haris is good, but calling him the "best player of swing/seam in Asia" is an opinion that is ridiculously idiotic at a different level.

These are the type of statements that the opposition supporters read and laugh their guts out.

He is a complete nobody at this point of his career, and he will have to score big runs in England/South Africa/New Zealand over the course of multiple series to justify this tag, which is based on two things so far:

(a) blind and hyper nationalism

(b) because he hasn't been dismissed LBW/bowled in the few LOI games that he has played.

Calling Pakistan the best team in the world in all formats would be less moronic than calling Haris the best player of swing/seam in Asia. Even a facepalm does not do justice to this tragedy of an assessment.

Pakistan have drawn a series in England 2 years ago. So, even if they get smashed 0-2, there shouldn't be any shame given the team is in transition and dont have any world class batsmen as of now.

In contrast, England lost 0-2 when they tour Pakistan in UAE in 2015 and were smashed 0-3 in 2012 as well.

No team wins series every single time. There is no shame if Pakistan loses both the tests while India come up with a series draw. This is India's best chance afterall. They haven't drawn or win any series against Aus/SA/Eng/NZ outside Asia since 2011.

Haris Sohail fans : Haris is the best player of fast bowling...if you don't believe us watch his cover drive from WC15.

Haris has done reasonably well but the praise he gets is undeniably biased. Hope he proves his fans on this tour though...will have to bat out of his skin.

Haris is the father of modern day Pakistani batting :19:
