Has there ever been a World Cup where we have been less interested in the Pakistani team?

I have barely even monitored or watched anything regarding our team and in fact have mostly been following the politics and talk shows in Pakistan in comparison.

Its definately the fact that like in 2015, the team's recent performances have been poor and the fact that the big 5 just look too strong. I don't think the teams are going to make the same mistakes that they did in the 2017 CT and will take Pakistan more seriously this time.

The same mistakes are being repeated here too many anchor type batsmen in the top order in 2011 and 2015 there were Younis Shafiq Misbah and others stifling the top order.
In 2019 there are Imam Haris Malik and others who will be doing similar things the games will be lost here until there are changes expect below par performances consistently and the team arrives undercooked for world cups.

I'm quite excited about this WC. We've got a much better team and a much more exciting captain than the one we had last time. It's in the UK which means we'll get great support and good pitches. Should be quite exciting!

I think you are in the minority. Maybe I'm wrong.

I am least interested about this WC.

ODIs are honestly lame these days.

Add corruption, nepotism and an incompetent management and it's hard to be excited.

In previous teams we have managed to sneak in a couple or of unwarranted selections interested our top order of the damn playing eleven. ( YK and shafiq)
That just isn't the case this time as imam fakhar Babar haris is quite e solid to me, and we will get to this by the end of the England series
(It s good Mickey and haris have spoken about strike rates, and I do believe it will be easier for them to score quicker in UK than UAE)

Also we have always previously lost our best bowlers previously but this time we will be full strength (inshaAllah shadab.
will come through

We just need hafeez to bat six and bowl somewhat like he used to, and amir to step up

Otherwise I'm happy with where we are

What the hell? Most of us are pretty excited. Kindly speak for yourself. I for one am eagerly waiting for the England series to start.

Most people are excited becuase of the captain who somehow helped win the CT 17.

And somehow because its happening in England, most people believe we will win.

If you exclude those 2 reasons (amazing captain and location), no one really thinks Pakistan have a team capable of winning.

Since the entire premise of the Pakistani team performance and its success is based on captaincy and location, the two skills least likely to impact team performance in cricket, its not surprising to see raucous optimism.

This will wane down with time as the tournament goes on.

I believe Pakistan have an average to good team that will be out of its depth in major WC games.

I don’t think so - this is my 4th pre WC experience in PP, but including few T20I WCs & CT, this is indeed the least hyped WC in PP.

2015 squad was poor, probably worse than this one and they were playing in Australia, but the format was such that one QF spot was almost given - after that couple of good days and you are in Final and many teams actually had the capacity to do that one upset.

This team is facing an uphill task mostly from the format used, which most posters can realise, though it’s in UK with happy memories. And, team didn’t move in last 2 years - should have replaced “backbone” from CT2017 squad, which didn’t happen - most posters are hoping for a turn around, but more careful after Asia Cup experience.

Theyv just been thumped 0-5 against worse aus side in living memory. Batsman playing for selfish hundreds, failing to chase dwn 60 odd runs with 7 wckts in hand. Imam imad masood in batting line up.

Excuse us for not getting excited about world cup!!

Speak for yourself

There’s tremendous interest among fans & there’s extensive media coverage as well. Maybe you’ve been living under a rock or something last couple of months & therefore missed the heated debate about team selection, the yo-yo test fitness assessment process, the media coverage of every move the team’s made etc....Please don’t assume everyone is ignorant or disinterested just because you have made that admission about yourself. Switch on your tv or get on the social media platforms & you won’t be disinterested anymore.

Aren't most against Sarfraz as the captain? Not sure I'm following your logic here. If anything, most of those who are interested are so in spite of the current captain.

The idea of a 10 team WC is just comical and depressing. It would be a lot more enticing with more possibility for upsets and more matches in a 16 team WC.

I guess the team doesn't have many explosive batsmen like in the past, that might be one reason for why people aren't as excited. Also the poor form in ODIs and how the format is just much less enjoyable than T20s and tests due to the rules implemented in recent years.

How can a true cricket fan not be excited for a WORLD CUP? An event which comes after 4 YEARS.

This is the first WC where we don't have stars on their last legs. We should be excited. There is no reason not to. We have a pretty good captain. A #3 batsman who (if he truly wants it) can stamp his authority on the game. An opener if he can get his head together to launch our innings. We've got Shadab, a young and exciting lower order all-rounder. Shaheen & Hasnain, wonderful young prospects who could provide something special. There absolutely is enough there for us to make some noise. We've been to 5/11 Semis in WCs. Finals twice, winning once. We've got a good track record. Lets not go into the tourney with an already defeated attitude.

Hafeez Malik possibly Sarfraz are on their last legs Imam Amir Junaid Yasir possibly Shadab aren't guaranteed places post World Cup Babar has been regressing in recent times there aren't any match winning batsmen minus an in form Fakhar.
Being optimistic is fine don't expect miracles and don't be surprised if things don't go well.

Speak for yourself man this is a World Cup and we're always going to be excited about it. I also get the feeling that despite all the troubles this Pakistan team has had leading up to this tournament we can still expect a good showing from them.

These fans who claim to be disinterested or keep on moaning about the team selection will become patriots if we qualify for the latter stages! Such people were never fans in the first place! The tournament has not even started and they have their knives out already!

I am looking forward to the World Cup. Seeing the best play the best in pressure games . How is that not exciting. I would have liked a bigger tournament but still looking forward to the tournament.

The format is pretty interesting this time around as every game means something, so i'm excited not just for Pakistan but for the tournament in general.

I don't believe Pak stand much of a chance but it will be nice to watch them give it a good go.

Are you kidding me, I'm on tenterhooks. I'm not expecting us to be winners but to be far more competitive than 2015.

In all honesty I am excited for the World Cup. However not excited watching Pakistan.

I’m excited to see England, India, Australia.

England and India firm faces to win. However with the recent steam rolling Australia has been on with the return of warner and smith, they are a force.

Outsiders like South Africa and New Zealand add the excitement factor.

Then their is the windies who lets be honest, ain’t talked about to win, but their batting still makes them fun to watch.

The likes are Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan. Are not peaking my interest at al. The only thing I was looking forward to from Pakistan was watching Amir play and to see if he’s gonna turn up at the big stage like he normally does.

No interest in watching malik and Hafeez knock it around and play at a 70 strike rate, embarrassing Pakistan.

Even worse sarfraz, who’s worse than a tail ended. And after Pakistan has found some half decent batsman in babar and haris who are core of the side. The idiot comes out and says malik and Hafeez are the back bone.

I count down the days we get another Imran Khan like captain. Who speaks the truth and is educated.

Come on England!!!!

Strong or weak team I support them. Think the word you are looking for is glory hunter.

Thats because you are more into TV and news these days rather watching cricket. I have followed your recent posts and threads and till PSL you were updated about our players and even now i guess. There is no cricket right now so its understandable to follow politics etc more.

For me i havent been this hyped up about a WC. 2011 was up there too.

We need to win 6 out of 9 matches which will be a tough task but i believe by the time of England series and first 2-3 matches of WC passengers like Malik and Hafeey will be out of the side so we might do well.
