Hasan Nawaz v Abdul Samad: Who should Pakistan take to the T20I World Cup 2026?

I’m baffled to see how Samad who hasn’t played any competitive T20 cricket or hasn’t been developed by the Pakistan team the way Nawaz has…will get the nod ahead of Hassan Nawaz for the T20 World Cup!

Pakistan will be making a huge blunder by keeping out Hassan Nawaz who has been a strong part of Pakistan’s resurgence in T20s, is a natural six hitter and is gaining a lot of confidence through performances in SC conditions through ILT20 and BPL.

Abdul Samad is nowhere at the moment. Nothing against him, but he isn’t the better option when compared to Nawaz!

Hasan Nawaz should most definitely be in. Abdul Samad hasn't gotten a recent opportunity so ideally you give him a series and then decide if he should go as well or not

Samad is a sitting duck against leg spin

He can’t read the hand like Iftikhar.

I would take Hassan Nawaz easily over Samad, but I would want both in the team, Samad more as a back up option, but again if only allowed to chose one, than Hassan Nawaz is the one that deserves a place in the team

Abdul Samad's is not a better option than Hassan Nawaz.

But he's even not a better option than Khushdil Shah, Iftikhar Ahmed or Kamran Ghulam.

Abdul Samad hit a few sixes & PCB is going gaga over him. Hassan Nawaz is clean striker of spinners & has more talent.

I think he should be given a lengthy run in the T20 team.

This probably is the thinking behind Samad selection, but Nawaz should have been persisted with.

Hasan nawaz on the other hand has a genuine claim to a spot and is the much more talented player too.

I'd take Shadab anyday over Samad especially for a Worldcup. As an AR Shadab has great value.

Samad is a hopeful shot in the dark at this point. His selection would make sense in a bilateral but not in a world cup.
