I got scammed 5-6 years ago when I was dealing with Bitcoin. I once sold Bitcoin (worth about $150) using PayPal and the guy did a charge back. I lost money since Bitcoin transactions are irreversible.

There was also another guy who scammed me for $5.

Have you been scammed before?

At JFK by a guy telling me Im late so he showed me way and asked 20$ , I asked does he have change for 100, he said yes and ran away in elevator, I assumed im late and let it go, first day in America a memory i wanna forget.

Wow! You lost $100. That sucks.

Another guy almost scammed me for $500 recently but I caught his scheme before he could do any real damage to me.

We all have to be vigilant. Internet is filled with scumbags.

Yes, I had an issue with my wireless router and was speaking to the service rep "George" even though he sounded like Apu from the Simpsons :yk3

I have never been scammed by a Desi scammer. I can identify them and handle them well.

I find eastern European scammers quite tricky. It could be because I don't know much about them culturally.

Are you Hindu JaDed by any chance :))

Small amounts, $10-20. Never anything significant. However, the one time I got scammed for $20, I became quite vigilant about scammers and their tricks, and took time to study their tricks so that they don't do it to me.

Any Nigerian princes in the house? ;)

This happened in London in 2002. My friend and I were walking along the street in Whitechapel when a guy approached us with the latest top end Sony Vaio laptop which costed around 1500 pounds and was willing to sell it to us for 200 pounds. Us being IT students we were naturally very excited but we only had twenty odd each amongst us. The guy said there was an ATM nearby where we could withdraw the cash and told us to come to the car when we had the cash. My card was having some problems so I asked my friend to withdraw the money, pay the guy and get the laptop back to his place while I went back to my place to get my half as I had some cash and meet him at his place since we both lived nearby.

When I arrived at his home 15 mins later expecting to see the latest laptop all I saw were two 1.5 liter Vanilla Coke bottles . I asked where the laptop was and he said he made the exchange with the guy (who was sitting in the passenger seat) simultaneously, he took the laptop from one hand while paid with the other and they drove off and all he found in the laptop bad were two Coke bottles. Something which I found very unbelievable and stupid of him to do. I would have at least asked the guy to open the bag and show the laptop before paying.

To this day I don't know if the scammer was the white guy or my (former) friend. Either way it taught me a good life lesson.

Your incident reminds me of one of my former friends. This guy was supposed to give me a cricket bat. I paid him around $200. He never delivered the bat and started to make excuses. I eventually stopped asking him and cut all ties with him.

I don't know the future of bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies but ATM its real. My friend has actually made some money from crypto.

Unless you are mining yourself, don't bother. Other sectors will yield more than buying bitcoin from providers.

No, but several attempts are made every month to scam me by Indian scam centers. I get these calls on a regular basis, acting as IRS agents claiming I am in violation of social security or I am a victim of ID theft, and now lately I have been getting calls from scammers pretending to be Amazon security, they claim someone ordered an iphone or macbook pro from my amazon account and then wanted me to install some app on my phone that would give them remote access to my phone.

I playfully lead them on for a bit, have my fun, allege dubious family history for some of them before hanging up. LOL!

My logic is start with a minimum investment with a person you can trust guiding you. I don't think anyone will scam another for £100. There is an element of risk in every business, it can't be avoided. Even running a regular store does not guarantee a profit.

Brother Bitcoin is 100% legit. I suggest you to read Bitcoin White paper that is on Bitcoin website. It was written by the inventor himself/themselves.

Also watch some videos on what Bitcoin is really.
