How can Pakistan reach the Semi-Finals of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 now?

I know most of you are pretty upset and angry and so am I.


But, is there any hope we can still reach the semis from here? What miracles do we need?


Or is it bye bye Pakistan from the worldcup now..
 
Pakistan has to win all its remaining games comprehensively - against NL, BAN and SA.

And

Pakistan has to hope that India loses to SA and also either to ZIM or BAN.

Don't see any other way.


Yet again, Pakistan's chances depend on how the others perform.

Wouldn't winning all 3 of our matches and , SA losing to India get us through?? Just wondering.
 
Zim has to lose 2/3
South Africa has to lose to us and India
We have to win all our remaining matches.
 
Pakistan is out already. They will loose to S Africa for sure and one of BD/Ned match. This team doesn't deserve to be in semi otherwise same players will be retained along with those desi useless fake coaches. Early exit could be blessing in disguise. Saqi, Majed, Yousuf needs to be kicked out ASAP.
 
By watching on tv whom ever qualifies and hopefully picking the proper winner as their team...
 
Pak has to win its remaining matches, that is beyond question.


After that precondition is met:
Either India must beat SA

Or SA must beat all of Ind/Neth/Ban, plus Ind losing to one of Ban/Zim. Then NRR comes in to break the tie between Ind and Pak for the second spot in the group.
 
Lol at praying and hoping this team can make semis still.

India and South Africa deserve it far more. End of

On the lighter note, do u still want pak in semis? If u ask me we don't deserve to be in semi's.
 
Heck! even Zim can qualify now lol! I almost forget that part.. Zim has to lose to India and Bangladesh both.. Oh dear!

If Pakistan wins its remaining 3 games, they will have 6 points.
If SA beats India, loses to Pak, and wins against NL they will have 7 points.
If India loses to SA but wins against BAN AND ZIM, they will have 8 points.

So SA and India go though in this scenario.

Only hope for Pakistan is if India lose either to BAN or ZIM.
 
Very simple formula is:
1) win remaining games
2) India beat South Africa.

other combinations are highly unlikely, and they require NRR to come into picture and we all know when we are barely beating minnows we can't count on that. Only positive on NRR front is our losses haven't hurt it.
 
on a joking way, pick Sikandar Raza as your Pakistan rep and start rooting for Zimbabwe from now :)

Pak win three matches will have 6 points.
India and pak beat SA can have maximum 5 if they beat zimbabwe.

However zimbabwe have better chance to go through in semis.

Expect that. Moreover it is in Perth where SA generally wins, Rabada/Nortje/Ngidi vs Kumar/Arshdeep/unfit Shami in a non-knockout game, so be ready for that.

SA vs ZIM match was a no result and both teams shared 1 point..


Sunday will decide Pak's fate in the game.. We need India to hammer SA, and Ban to beat Zimbabwe .

and offcourse win all 3 of our games so we can beat Ban on NRR if they share 6 points.

If zimbabwe loose to india and win against ban and NL they will still can get 7 points, better chance for qualifying for semi's than pak
 
If SA loses to both Pak and Ind then they end up at 5 and Pak win all the remaining games then Pak qualified with 6 points, India at top with 10 points, Zimbabwe stays at 5 assuming they also lose to BD as they should beat Netherland atleast.
 
It will be decided on Sunday. If India beat SA and Pak somehow wins against Netherlands then Pak SA game on Tuesday will become the decider.
 
So, Pakistan's fate is basically in Bangladesh's and Indian hands lol (considering we win all 3 games).

I counted the BAN VS SA match. SA now have 3 points (washout against ZIM + 2 against BD)

If SA beat India, lose to Pak and beat NL they will have 3 +2+2 = 7 points, as I pointed out earlier.

Pak's only hope is for India to lose to SA, and also lose one of its other matches against BAN or ZIM. Then the NRR will come into play between India and Pakistan (assuming Pakistan win all their remining three matches, of course).
 
Let me just put this right here.

Pakistan do not deserve to go through.

They had a fantastic opportunity to announce their silverware intentions by THRASHING Zimbabwe and chasing the score in 13-15 overs. They needed to show that they are not just content with winning but also eliminating any potential of NRR causing them harm

Instead, and as usual, Pakistan were just happy to take the easy way out and nudge their way to the total without risks.

Well, now you have no choice but to fight as if your lives depend on it!

Ok. We take it more simple
India and pak beat SA assuming SA win against zimbabwe will leave SA on 5 points and pak on 6.
 
It’s really difficult now.

There’s quite a few possible scenarios to qualify but we need basically 2/3 of Zimbabwe, India, and South Africa to lose 2/3 of their last 5 games.

I’m this case, Zimbabwe could still qualify by beating Bangladesh and Netherlands. They would end up with 7 points in that case even if they lose to India.
 
Better if we don’t, so the cowardly batting unit is hopefully revamped.

We don't deserve to qualify for the next round. This is an utterly disgraceful team led by a very meek captain.
 
If Pakistan wins all its remaining matches and all other teams' matches get washed out and if aliens come down in their space ship to Lahore wearing Langot and saying "ki gall ae sohneyo" then maybe Pakistan can qualify.
 
SA has 3 points right as you correctly pointed out. We want SA to lose against India not beat them lol. So they will still be on 3 points. After that as long as Pak wins their remaining games they will be ahead of SA.

No, Paks hope is for SA to lose to India and Pak. That way they will end up with 5 points after beating Netherlands.

Thank you , came to type that Pak fans please don't expect India to be able to beat SA in Aus, they have a perfect team for these conditions and we are so-so esp carrying Rahul at top who can't even smack NED
 
We may beat SA, and Netherlands. And could probably lose to Bangladesh. I just can’t see us going through. Imagine the teams morale losing 2 games in a row on the last ball, and against Zimbabwe too only chasing 130. They are going to be doubting themselves now, it’s not going to be a great watch I don’t think.

No because Zimbabwe hasn’t lost yet.

Their game against SAF was rained out so we need them to lose to Bangladesh and India
 
Other teams are not out there to eat channas and achar, they will see how Zimbabwe nuetralized the Pakistani hitters with the back of the length short pitched heavy ball and South Africa will definately look to do the same.

This team management did not make the tough bold decisions of replacing a lot of mis firing players when they had seen the team results in the last 15-20 T-20 games in the last 2 months. You do not ever take badly out of form, short of confidence players to the biggest stage in international cricket, 9 times out of ten it will never work.

If SAF loses to us and India - then they are done.

Then we need Bangladesh to beat Zimbabwe and (assuming India will best then as well..)

Of course we have to win our remaining games :)
 
I hope Pakistan makes a miraculous entry into the semis so we can then have a few threads about getting the '92 vibes :babar

Don’t think Pak can score 150 against Netherlands

Their bowling attack is decent
 
If Zimbabwe win their matches against Bangladesh and Netherlands then they will be on 7 points, which Pakistan cannot reach. India too will score more points than Zimbabwe. Pakistan at the most will reach 6 points.
 
You guys are misjudging.

Zimbabwe will go undefeated and India will lose to South Africa, Bangladesh, and Zimbabwe, and then we will battle it out with South Africa to go through the group.
 
WC in AUS is a great spectacle no fan would like to want to their team to go out early, nothing wrong in hoping/ wishing.

Ind def RSA in Perth will be difficult but if that happens then why not ? Pak can and will progress to semis if they win against RSA.

I think our best chance is if South Africa loses to India. If we win our remaining games and South Africa loses to India, I think we're through.
 
Bdesh also has to def ZIM which is quite possible.

So yes, Pak has still 40% chance of reaching semis as long as they win against RSA in Sydney
 
India will give it their all against South Africa because there's still a possibility they could go out.

But if Pakistan and Zimbabwe are still in play going into the last game of the group stage, which is India Zim - then I could see India taking it easy.

Are you sure Pakistani batsmen can face Netherlands 145 kmph pacer ? Bangladesh could only score 155 against them and Bangladesh won only by 9 runs. Just bbecause India scored 179 against Netherlands does not mean Pakistan too will score that many runs against Netherlands.

And Pakistan will be out

I think Pakistan should crush Netherlands and BD. However, I think South Africa may beat Pakistan. South Africa have a better overall team.

One factor people also are forgetting is what happens if a game gets rain off.

Let's say Pakistan wins all their matches, we still depend on other results, what happens in the case were one of zimbabwe, south africa, or India, have their game rained off, the extra point can maybe cause a problem for Pakistan to advance.

Regardless of if we advance or not, we need to try to win all the 3 games, whatever happens after that is not in our control anymore. Even if we do not advance but win all 3 games, it is something to build on moving forward, and hopefully the right changes can be applied moving forward.
 
Bangladesh beating Zimbabwe doesn't look easy. Although Pakistan were pathetic with the bat today, the Zimbabweans do have a solid bowling attack.

We are also dependent on Zimbabwe dropping atleast 3 more points.

Good thing is they play India which they should lose. But need them to lose / washout to Bangladesh or have game against Netherlands washed out.

If any of our games, or India vs SAF or Zim vs India vs Zim is washed out - then we are done and kiss this tournament good bye!
 
I hope we go out! It we by chance go through then India has to defeat RSA then we do the same. Zimbabwe also have to lose to someone else I believe.

It is not easy because we lost to Zimbabwe and they’re game against SAF was washed out (which is now working against us..)

In addition - We need Zimbabwe to ATLEAST drop 3 more points (but the good news is one of those games is again India)

Let's see India is playing on Sunday, which will be their 3rd game, doubt they want to give a free game away. None the less, we should say bye bye to WC, we do not deserve going ahead.

SA have to loose against India on Sunday and Pakistan have to win the remaining 3 matches including match against South Africa. The draw between SA and Zimbabwe due to rain have kept Pakistan hopes alive in the tournament. This Sunday match between India and SA will be big for Pakistan

Again it is not that simple because Zimbabwe are undefeated.

We need them to drop at least 3 more points but the good news is that they are still to play India
 
Honestly Pakistan dont deserve to be in Semis. It will be injustice of SA deprived of Semis spot . Both India and SA have much much better team than Pakistan

We took a donkey cart to compete in a formula 1 race, and we are now hoping for miracles to happen? How dumb are we?
