How did you come to know about PakPassion?

I came across Pakpassion back in 2009 . An English daily I think TOI (yes I used to read the dreadful paper but in my defense I was quite young) published a story about Mohammed Asif in which he was interviewed by PP. At first I thought it was some site related to music and that they occasionally interviewed cricket stars. Out of curiosity I decided to check it out and landed on the forum. Lurked for around 3 years and eventually decided to register in 2012.
What about the rest of you folks?

I used to post on it since the BBC TMS days and then Sportnetwork with my brother, then I lost my username but still would browse it till I made this account again.

It was mentioned back on the old Channel 4 cricket forum. I believe Saj was there for a while.....

It was being badmouthed (unfairly as I later figured out) on the old Ch4 cricket forum so thought I'd see what all the fuss was about.

I was searching some Champions Trophy 2017 story when a Pakpassion link popped up. The forum seemed interesting, so I decided to sign up right away. But then I noticed all that June 18 gloating, and waited for it to settle down.

Weeks went by, but the gloating didn't stop. Months went by but nothing changed. Now that it was about to be an year, I finally gave up and registered this month. :)

For the record June 18 is only brought up when Indians are chest thumping or gloating about their much superior side.

Joined back in the days when I was more interested in cricket and there wasn't a concept of the Big Three which has gone some way to destroying the game in my opinion. I came across the site due to some link, can't remember accurately. Don't talk cricket much anymore, usually find myself conversing more with my fellow Hindutvas and Pak cheerleaders who share their views.

I remember my brother and me were very young and didn't knew a lot about Internet and cricket websites, one day he just searched Pakistan vs Sri Lanka(? Not 100% sure whether SL or some else) and then clicked on a pakpassion link in google which sent us to some interview or thread of Faisal Iqbal (sorry for mentioning him here :( ) and since then both him and me started checking pp regularly.

Was lurking since 2009 and tried to sign in many times but my Nokia 3300 phone didn't let me as it all the details used to get lost after filling that Membership form.
Finally brought my first Smartphone in 2016 and within a week signed up on this brilliant forum.

I'm aware of PP since before it had its own website. Used to have some fun discussions with a guy whose name I forget, but he claimed he quit his job to watch an India-Pakistan series. Stopped posting on the new board, and then forgot my user id etc. Started looking at cricket forums after quite some time recently, lurked for a while and registered recently...

It's been decades since Indians have been gloating about their WC odi wins and make sure to celebrate them during every WC with a freshly created tv add that the entire nation feels proud about . The irony in your post actually shows why Indians are considered a joke by Pakistanis.

I heard about it a long time ago - probably in the discussion thread on an article. Started lurking for a couple of years. Finally actually registered last year. Got put off by all the sub-continental spats, particularly on the cricket pages especially the willy-waving "my demon fast bowler can wipe the turf with your home track bully batsman" ones. Eventually looked at time-pass this month & decided I liked it much more. So here I am.

Hmm - exactly the sort of position that deters me from posting on the cricket threads.
Amongst my (largely caucasian) workplace colleagues there are (at least) 8 of Indian origin, 3 of Pakistani nationality & 2 Sri Lankans. They get along extremely well, often watch out for each other & meet socially. They also form the vast majority of the workplace cricket team, which rarely has more than 1 - 2 anglo-saxons. And these are not 2nd generation people - they all came from their home countries to study & work here.
So what is it about this forum that it fosters such strife? Sri lankans, bangladeshis, Pakistanis & Indians are all relatively non-wealthy people (in their home countries), all trying to improve their lot by any means possible. With varying degrees of help from their rulers & masters. And it is not a zero sum game. All can improve their lives & economies. One does not have to go down so that the other can rise.
OK rant over. I'm sure you understand what I mean.

I found it through Twitter from then I was always a looker. then after some months I decided to sign up.
I also want to know why I can't post through tapatalk?

Ha, well spotted! When i was 12 I discovered I had a flexible wrist and coul bowl googlies quite naturally.
But there were 3 problems -
1) I could not turn the leg break without dropping my arm by 30 degrees which made the googly very obvious
2) I wanted to be an opening batsman
3) But I was actually the best wicketkeeper in my school & college sides

So I failed to become the demon wristspinner bamboozling all & sundry. Sad, so sad (as Trump might say).

The anonymity allows the 'real-self' to shine through because in other in-person social settings people tend not to make a fool out of themselves.

Googlies are all about spotting, and spotting early, out of the hand...

My experience was the mirror opposite of yours: I could turn the stock Chinaman, but never the left-armer's googly.

I had a very high arm action - made it easier to bowl googlies (in the nets only). Anil Kumble who also had a high arm turned his googly more than his legbreak and Shane Warne ( who I met once at a charity dinner) had a lower arm with which he turned the legbreak a long way. And could not bowl a googly in his later career.

Apropos of your post, again from my workplace & social interactions, I have not noted that either group consider the other one "a joke". There is a lot of mutual respect & help towards each other. A lot of banter about their respective cricket teams & fortunes of course. The pakistanis wish for a few of the Indian batters while the Indians crave fast bowlers from pakistan.

It's been so long for me it's like asking how I first got introduced to music or when did I watch my first movie.

I did lurked for a year or so and then finally registered. Interestingly, I never ventured outside the main Cricket forum for many years. I didn't even think there is this whole world of discussions existing outside that forum.

What made me gradually less interested in discussing Cricket was the constant match rigging allegations and after our humiliating defeat to Ireland in the WC and Woolmers shocking death, a part of my heart that was mental about the sport died as well.

Then I discovered "Time Pass" and some great posters who were churning out brilliant and fascinating posts on a variety of topics. Almost all of them with the exception of a few who don't post that much are gone now. I started writing a bit as well. Learned as I went along. Got a POTW out of the blue and thought I've made it.

What started as time pass became an addictive habit. Mainly because I felt I've become a known entity around here. People actually started reading my stuff because it's by me, whether they like it or loathed it was less of my concern. Ultimately, the little bit of notoriety that I developed made it impossible for me to stop.

The cliched movie quote from Godfather comes to mind but ultimately I think PP has helped me express and explore myself in ways I never would have. I'm more disciplined now. I try to stay out of useless arguments and *** for tat conversations with posters. I feel I can control the beast of PP more than it controlled me in the past.

Googled information on Pak Cricket many years back. Was a "guest" here for many years before becoming a member.

Good honest answer. Still waiting for you to win the POTW for the other post but I doubt it. Have high hopes for this one though.

It was during the WT20 2009. I was redirected to an article on PP and found my way to the forum. Lurked till the end of the tournament but then I forgot about it.

It took my 3 years to find my back, and so I finally decide to sign up in September 2012. I was a low profile poster for the first few months and thought it was something temporary, but I got into heated arguments with a few posters which motivated me to keep going.

As a result, people started to take note of my posts and I started to polarize opinion. People either loved me or hated me, and my ego started to get bigger and bigger. A lot of people signed up only to debate with me.

I was at my peak during the 2014-15 period and used to post almost all day. However, due to professional and personal commitments, my posting frequency has dropped considerably. I do not know what the future holds, but when I signed up in 2012, I did not expect myself to be the giant PP celebrity that I am today.

I have always wanted to be in the Hall of Fame though, but 55k+ posts looked like a world away when I started. I think I got carried away with all the self-indulgence and forgot what this thread was about. To answer the question - during the WT20 2009, I was redirected to an article on PP and found my way to the forum....

About a year and a half ago, I was looking for cricket news etc. and came across this forum.

Saw some beautiful hd quality Youtube videos on cricket that had PakPassion watermark on them, figured why not just go to the source of the videos rather than searching on Youtube. Fast forward 4-5 years and I now have about 30k posts on here. :danish

Every so often I try to log off and never post again, but I give in within a day or two, this forum is just so addictive.

Not sure how I got here. I have no clue to be honest but glad to be here now.

I searched cricket forums and this was the first site which pops up on google.. Lurked here for a year or so before I Joined.

Was seeing it around 06/07 in various articles. Decided to register in 08/09. At that time Pak cricket appeared to be on rise.

While its good to see you being addicted here, remember that everything got an expiry tag. This is my third of fourth place in past two decades and each of them felt addictive enough in their spans.

2011WC win of India. I came here to read about the Pakistani's opinion about our cricket team, win etc. Somehow stumbled upon timepass and i am still here.

Good honest answer. Still waiting for you to win the POTW for the other post but I doubt it, as it was mostly anti religion. Have high hopes for this one though.
Thanks for your appreciation. I honestly do not feel that was an "anti-religion" post. I just wanted to pour my heart out concerning my struggles with religion and God.

After being on PP for this long I feel the only way one can make use of this forum for oneself and by that I mean using it as an avenue to express ones feelings, desires and regrets without invoking ones ego or narcissism is to be truthful and not concerned about others impression of you.

Not that I was playing some role here or trying to project an image which is foreign to me but one does tend to start believing the hype after a while. The accolades, the mentions, even the strong dislike one generates from certain posters start going to ones head and before you know it, your "identity" on the forum start dictating you.

The reality is no one is indispensable here. I've seen immensely talented and gifted posters over the years. I've seen their larger than life persona, their monstrous notoriety and impact. Their influence seemed infinite. Their adulation seemed endless. But a few months or years down the road and no one even remember their names.

The shrill reality of the social media persona is that no one is one post away from complete insignificance and mediocrity. Better to stay in your skin and let the rest of the world go by.

I googled something about cricket back in 2011. I think it was the world cup and things were going downhill for Pakistan  I saw some article on Pakpassion and since then became a lurker. Finally decided to join in august 2012 iirc using a Nokia N72 phone. It was hard to operate on PP using a java phone but i took all the pains to post and take part in discussions.

Looking back at the years, i think i have grown a lot because of my interations with such brilliant minds from all parts of the world who come to post on PP. From being a bit irate, i have toned down considerably now. Many factors of life have played a part in it and PP is one of them.

Back in june 2014 i suppose.i was googling through wasim akram records and all of a sudden stumbled on to a link where he was being compared to dale steyn i suppose..i loved that stuff.on a closer look there was a plethora of cricketing stuff, threads and posts that were incisive and in bulk.after lurking for 3 or 4 months i signed up.then there was this time pass.posts regarding kashmir was what attracted me here but sooner i found some top notch threads on religion, world politics with some extremely well read posters debating their heart out.though i thought and still think the kashmir centred threads was what attracted the worst lot and few people who will literally mock and cheer brutal oppression and sorta derive sadistic pleasures outta it.intially i found it unbelievably shocking and would respond impulsively hyper emotionally to such stuff.over a period of time i realised such stuff was everywhere and it is needless to drag yourself into it.all in all a good experience.😊😊

Know it since 2008 but signed up around WC time

I used to use it primarily as a news source for first 2-3 years before signing up

Most likely found out about it through cricinfo crediting it in one of their articles

I’m a big Sohaib Maqsood fan, it’s a bit of a duty of mine to find seemingly mediocre players and support them to superstardom. He debuted around 2013-2014 and I was trying to find his batting highlights and instead I found the “Sohaib Maqsood - Inzi 2.0?” Thread on google. That day I learnt the power of the Pakistani fan hype and have since used it for good as my own since March 2014.

I was more methodical and self conscious about my posts in the first 6 months and then became like Ryan from The Office and was more of a maverick and admittedly eccentric in some of my posts which seriously ticked off one particular guy and nearly ended my PP career once but I refused to make a new account.

Nowadays I don’t post much, just enjoy watching the chaos unfold in the Time Pass section and the extreme swing of states of delusional chest thumping to wrist slitting in the cricket section.

Lmao, sounds like the beginning of a Hangover sequel. Something you would say after a night of heavy drinking and partying and then waking up in your own bed by some miracle.
