A noble gesture or a folly? or neither!

Many would have liked to hold on to him and make India beg, others would have thought that chance of peace depended on Pakistan releasing this man.

Which side of the divide do you sit on?

Great decision - nothing to gain by keeping him. India won’t hand over IOK by keeping him hostage!

I was hoping for this decision by Khan Saab so I’m very pleased.

If it was cricket match, I would swear at Imran. But looking at Pakistan economy and foriegn relationship, it is awesome. Forget about India and we need to rebuild Pakistan which has some significance on the world map.

Great decision. It is best to deescalate from a position of strength. Pakistan has shown that it can give India a bloody nose but any prolonged confrontation would do irreparable damage to our economy and is simply not worth it.

You cannot make policy decisions based on the expected reaction of the Indian media or social media. They would continue their disinformation campaign even if Pakistan hands them everyone they want on a platter. Policy decisions are based on your own national interest and the well being of your own people.

IK has proved that he is all for peace between both countries. India should follow his example.

Nothing to be gained by keeping him

Under Imran, he was always going to be released.

Initially I felt they could have held on him to him a bit longer since he was anyway safe. But now I think it's the best option. Imran and co probably know Modi's desperation. Now Modi has no excuses for any sort of retaliatory act. It's probably a smart preemptive decision to embarrass Modi further.

My initial impressions were that it was too soon, but after some digging around, I think it's a fair decision and a political masterstroke by IK.

Great Decision. We are Peace loving nation and that's what our PM just showed

This is how real men carry themselves. Proud to display the Pakistan flag for the past week.

Je Suis' Imran!

He has defused the situation brilliantly.Just like in cricket he called back Srinkant..

its way to soon, he should be kept till atleast indian elections, you never know when modi will plan another misadventure

depends on the aftermath.

His release has come too soon. Because now Indian media is making reports that Pakistan was under pressure and what not.

Also by releasing him we are sending the wrong message. We are showing that Pakistan doesnt want war and that could indicate we see our selves as weak and India could take advantage of that.

Look, no declarations have been signed as of yet that India would stop this little war going on if this IAF pilot is returned.

Imran Khan is taking a gamble here. It is very unlucky his return will lead to peace, and if India continues to attack then he will get bashed.

If however, his return leads to peace in the mean time. Then forget Modi, Imran will win the re-election. This would be a hell of a move by him.

I think the most stupid move that Pakistan could make after this anyone of their soldiers being caught by the Indians if they enter the enemy territory. once our guy gets caught, i think in hindisight what Imran would had done would be political suicide.

Nothing could be said at the moment, to us Abhi was useless. WE had used him for our propaganda, made videos, thats it. Nothing more was needed from him.

Good decision by Imran Khan, he is being a sportsmen. But he is playing against politicians so politicians will take advantage of his decision.

Masterstroke; dented Modis ego by taking down jets and then released a prisoner of war to capture the international audience/ sane Indians and descalate. If India dares a misadventure then India will look really bad. Modis must be fuming lol. Importantly, it has deterred a war and now Pakistan can focus on building a bright future.

Ignore Indian media; Pakistan has come out at an advantage. Good test match batting this :)

Ps: Under Geneva Convention; prisoner had to be returned anyway.

BUt does the Geneva COnvention ruling apply on Abhi?

Because we are not at war. And he was an intruder

It also discredits India report of killing 300 inside Pakistan.
If India did kill 300 people, Pakistan would not have released even an ant.

India and Indian media can say what ever they want. Pakistan shot Down their jet, Pakistan captured their pilot, so what are they yelling about?

And re war. Pakistan haven't lost a single life. Pakistan completely owned them here. So now they are just hiding their face, trying their best twist and turn the truth. Let them do that. Who are they fooling?

Whole World have reported how Pakistan shot their Aircrafts, how well they treated their pilot, what a good gesture by Imran. They haven't achieved a single thing neither at home nor abroad.

Their media still trying their best to fool the Viewers on F16-bluff, no international media is paying attention to this rubbish.

Or according to Indian mindset, would Jaish have allowed return of the pilot if 300 of them were killed by them

this!

This makes sense, never thought about this.

My pride and an emotional, irrational sense of honor says we should put him in big and heavy chains and lock him up in a prison for an indefinite time. Common sense suggest we shouldn't allow the enemy to dictate the course of our nation. Before India's provoking violation of our airspace, blind bombardment of our trees and mass celebration on the events, we were looking towards stabilizing and improving our economy. We were forced to retaliate or otherwise lose any sort of authority and integrity. We responded to their aggression and mass-propaganda in a manner where even their own lying machine of a media is finding it hard to deny.

After a very long time we have a civil leader who at the very least seems sincere in his efforts to lead the country towards a better future and is not looking to make a quick buck for his family on the expense of the nation. Therefore, it's best we keep the option of war at the very bottom of our to-do list. Instead of playing into the enemy's hand and falling into their trap we should concentrate on what we were busy doing the day before we were attacked. In this regard there is no harm in a gesture of peace by returning the captured intruding pilot safely.

The enemy and their propaganda machine have lost all sense of rationality but that doesn't mean we too should lose our composure. Their media is a certified liar and war-mongering is how they run their business. Their denial, spinning of events, ridicule and name-calling shouldn't be the defining factor on how we go about doing things. They can call this act whatever they want, make as many movies as they like but we should still be the one dictating the route and the course of action for our nation.

They needed at least 13 days to plan and carry out their attack. It only took us a short time and resources to respond and shoot down their jet and capture their pilot. Any question regarding whether our military forces are willing to respond to the unprovoked aggression of the enemy have been answered. Shall a full-blown war be imposed on us there would be many more opportunities to make the enemy pay for its arrogance. War means total destruction. It's better to take careful and measured steps towards sanity before engaging in destructive behavior.

I honestly felt very sorry for him yesterday.

His situation was very dire. Shot down over enemy territory and caught by enemy forces facing prolonged imprisonment, only because his scumbag of a PM has a bloodlust.

I'm glad he will get to go back to his family. I hope he become an agent of peace once he returns.

its way to soon, he should be kept till atleast indian elections, you never know when modi will plan another misadventure

If we keep him as a prisoner, Modi and his propaganda machines would find a way to justify any future misadventure. By once again taking a step towards peace we have taken any sort of justification for a misadventure away from Modi and his friends.

You can never be sure with the Indian media.... imagine once he returns to his home the Indian media claims "see Pakistan was faking jets being shot down because the pilot is safe and sound in his home".... only for the joshilay type to lap it up :))

Good decision by Imran Khan, he is being a sportsmen. But he is playing against politicians so politicians will take advantage of his decision.

No.

Modi's only strength is to play the religious riots card. The random cow lynching etc BJP's goons do. He can't control narrative the way he did during Gujarat 2002. People have cellphones these days.

He has done zilch for Indians during his reign.

This intent to start a war was the last card he could play. Now, he and his Sena generals know for a fact that war can get real and in best scenario it will be a sad pyrrhic victory for India.

That's what all Pakistani spokespersons (PM including) have been saying since 0 hour.

Indians may vote BJP again now, but I don't think BJP can justify a war, ever again.

The right decision.

No child deserves to lose his father because of "egos".

Another thing to keep in mind is that the whole world is watching. Since both nations are an atomic power hence no one wants a war between the two nations. With our gesture we are showing to the whole world who is initiating peace and who is provoking a war.

Imran has really surprised me with how he’s handled this. Hopefully Indians don’t try to bully us again. Modi has no clue what to do and this Modi’s real test of diplomacy.

This!

It should be a lessen for every 1 that seeing your relative in such a position must be devastating!

IK has made the right choice. He wants PAK to move FORWARD. Last thing on his mind is a war with India.

Pakistan will inshallah develop and move on with a leader like Imran Khan.

Apart from handful of states most people have positive view towards Modi. I definitely believe he played a hands in Gujarat riots, but India has 1,300 MIllion people and people aren't going to really care about what happened in one state of of 65 million people. Apart from situations like this and Cricket matches, people generally associate themselves with the states they are from. Going from one state to another is like going from one EU country to another. What he did during his power doesn't matter and people don't care as long as it boosts their ego it looks good. BJP doesn't need to justify to the world, what world thinks doesn't matter to BJP, it doesn't win them votes but it will definitely play big roll winning this election.

No point. Indian media and Army are still b***ing about.

Looks like Modi still wants war.
However, it presented a good image infront of the international crowd

it is the right thing to do, a peace and humanitarian gesture that continues the consistent narrative from the Paksitani side about being peaceful and not wanting to escalate. The message has been unified and together. Nobody has deviated from it. This shows a united front and a united nation.

Also it will stop Modi from milking things by claiming we are mistreating him etc. and pushing the ball into Modis court. Imagine if India launch another excursion after all of this. they will look even worse. And they care very much about their external image. Therefore I will be bold and say the crisis may be over now. Maybe. inshallah hopefully it is.

lol..naah that only happens on Bharat Rakshak lol

Stupid decision making us look weak. Should have kept him for a lot longer to show some Pakistani hospitality.

Absolutely the right decision.

No one with any ounce of sense can argue against this decision.

This was a case of "speak softly and carry a big stick". The stick has been applied, the soft message of peace has been spoken and shown by the action of releasing the pilot.

The IAF chief refusing to appreciate the release was most annoying. He said he is happy but said that this gesture is simply the what Pakistan was supposed to do and nothing else. Could have easily said, "We are happy and appreciate this move by Pakistan".

It's not that simple bro.

In military terms esp in a war like situation ,it's not a good move. Because you are giving the enemy propaganda help as we can see in the India media who are saying it's due to pressure. We even have Indian posters on here saying Trump must have forced Pak to do this. lol The point here if their media can keep their people having beliveing India has the upper hand, the public will not voice any concerns of continuation of war. Also he could have been used for trading with prisoners held in Indian jails or any captured in this on-going conflict.

However a great leader will take this risk if it means lowering the risk of all out war. Imran or any PM's main role is to keep the people safe. He is doing everything in his power to ensure there is no war, not because Paksitan is afraid but because saving the lives of people is the greatest thing a person can do. If it all fails, then Im sure you will also see the other side of Imran.

Keeping him would have not served Pakistan well.

Releasing him showed the world that we are consistent with our narrative of peace in the region.

The Geneva convention is supposed to be for official wars.

Yeah very sour attitude
