What's new

How does Mohammad Hafeez keep finding his way into squads despite lack of performances?

He is back to bowling well considering the opposition are loaded with left handers

He is a good bowler and an attacking batsman so why not? We can utilise him at number 5,6 as an all rounder.

Well here are his stats. :))

In T20Is since the beginning of 2014:

24 matches, 369 runs, 2 fifties. Average of 16, strike-rate 102.5.... and two wickets.

So yeah I find it difficult to believe that he is a). a good bowler and b). an attacking batsman.

If your post was sarcastic then my apologies, I didn't get it. :mv

How can we get rid of Mohammad Hafeez?

this man is 38 years old and striving on dead UAE pitches, cant score a run against decent pace bowlers, while bowling he clearly chucks, once he come out of his comfort zone of UAE he will be badly exposed as it did occur in CT but management and selectors are gonna stick with him and he is back in T20 and i think will be back in test squad soon, sick of this man .how can we get rid of this man????

I was waiting for this day to return back your smile :19:

I always sum it in one line - in PAK/PCB ranks, people who has seen both live & played with/against, rates MoHa along with Majid Jahangir Khan ......................... on top of that, this guy is extremely effective chucker.

why damn icc does not report his chucking...

I honestly can't understand why he has been recalled. Complete and utter joke.

ICC will do that - 3 months before WC, if PAK builds their team strategy on the Sobersque capability of MoHa - bats at 4, bowls full quota & fields at 1st slip ................ even Sobers moved down to 6, by his mid 30s!!!!!!!!!

It's not by chance that from Asif/Shoaib's doping to SK's ban; PAK's preparation for most ICC events in last few years had been severely hampered by off field issues just before the tournament.

Hafeez ODI figures in 2017

Batt Ave 39, Bow Ave 75, 6 wickets in 15 matches, 9 matches wicketless

Imad Wasim

Batt Ave 26, Bow Ave 61, 7 wickets/14 matches, 10 matches wicketless

Shadab Khan

Batt Ave - (two not outs, HS 52*) Bow Ave 30, 13 wickets in 9 matches, 1 match wicketless

Conclusions

Hafeez is effectively playing as a specialist batsman. If there is a better batsman available Hafeez should be dropped. See under: Haris, Sahibzada, Amin, Imam, etc etc

Shadab Khan is closer to a genuine allrounder than either Hafeez or Imad

We dont know just how good Shadab can be with the bat, but he already looks better than Hafeez and Imad. Needs more chances

He has a batting average of almost 40, with 4 50s and 3 of them 60+ scores. He had two very handy knocks in the CT, especially that brilliant final.

In terms of his bowling, he is mainly a containment option and very rarely gone above 5 runs an over. Nothing wrong with that, plus he fields better than most of the younger guys.

I do think a new spin bowling all rounder needs to be bred in the side to do Hafeez's role but till then, he is decent enough to play on. Especially if he bats at 4/5.

that will be good evem, anyone will be better than this 40 years old..he will not score more than 100 i entire wc.which doesnt have a low ranked team like UAE..

what knock???two all ready won matches with no pressure.let him perform in presuure situation like in first 3 matches then i willl accept,he is riding on youngsters performances..

Hafeez,Asad Shafiq,Shehzad,Wahab these 4 played a lot more number of ODIs and T20s than they deserved. They just blocked 4 spots in the team and contributed to make Pakistan team a mediocre LOI team

Shouldn't in the T20 squad, but in ODIs his darting to lefties is sorely missed when absent.

If he continues the batting approach he has shown since CT semis- I think he should play

Has utility in Asia but time to move on. Especially when a class act like Haris is sitting on the bench and in top form.

Simple. When he can't bowl, he bats. When he can't bat, he bowls. If he can't do either than he can field and give " senior advice " to the upcoming youngsters. And if all else fails, he can injure himself and argue he has not performed poorly enough to be dropped.

yes u are right but there is something else,impact.age. future.soaft runs and situations..hope u understand otherwise i will come with detailed explanaion.

Why were his runs in the CT final soft? He upped the run rate considerably, without which Pakistan would not have made 320 odd

with zero pressure bowlers flatted out, flat itch he can do but what he did earlier in the matches despite of 15 years experience...hr id riding purely on youngsters performance.
