How good an ODI bowler was Shaun Tait?

He was a part of 2007 World Cup for Australia and at one point was regarded as the fastest bowler in the world, could consistently bowl 145+ and crack it to 150+ or even 155 Kph .

It was unfortunate that he could only play 35 ODIs but still had an average of 23 with the bowl.

Do you think if not for injuries, he could have become a great bowler for Australia?

He was good when on song but was wayward mostly. He is very similar story to Mohammad Sami in my opinion

At its peak, he was quite a scary bowler. An out and out fast bowler but probably not good enough for longer format because of lack of control.

Tait was overrated.

He could've achieved much more but he didn't seem very disciplined.

The injuries were not bad luck. It was impossible for someone to have his bowling action and not have recurring injuries.

Compare his action to another slinger in Thomson and you will see.

An outstanding ODI bowler in his prime, but his economy rate would have taken a big hit under the two new ball rule that was implemented in 2011.

However, bowlers like him work effectively in a group. He would have suffered if he would have been tasked with leading the bowling attack. Complemented McGrath perfectly in 2007.

Very quick but had nothing else going for him. Could not recreate the 2007 World Cup impact in 2011.
