How much do Pakistan miss Younis Khan's presence at the crease?

So how much does the test team miss him? I have seen him being criticised a lot on this forum during his playing days, but it has become evident as each test that Pakistan plays that they miss him more and more! He may not have been the best of batsmen to watch initially but once he got in he made it count.

Unlike the current bunch :sarf2:imam:azhar2:shafiq2

In Asia immensely. He's the only batsman who was also capable of scoring big hundreds i.e. 150+ scores once every series or two.

Misbah's contributions in the UAE are overstated on here. Without Younis Khan he was nothing because he never had the spine to lead from the front as a batsman.

YK was the chief destroyer in dismantling the opposition's bowling attack.

Outside Asia we don't miss him so much because we have Haris Sohail who's a far more gifted player vs pace.

Huge. You can't give a statistical measure of that. There was no way in world that Pakistan would have lost today's match if they had Khan.

His ability to score hundreds on a consistent basis and also delivers when the going got tough was phenomenal. Series victory in Sri Lanka, drawing a test series in India, drawing a test series in England(failed in every other inning but delivered just when mattered) dominating Australia in USA like no holds barred speaks of volume about Mr. Khan.

You always miss a good thing when it's gone and don't realise how good it was until they've gone.

Seeing YK a few days ago, he looked fit enough to still be playing.

Will not do worst than the tailenders we have been carrying.

Rose-tinted glasses. We suffered many 4th innings collapses when Younis was in the side.

Younis is missed but no miracles were needed to chase 20 runs with 5 wickets in hand batsmen simply crumbled under pressure ability wasn't in question this time grit and determination were.

Whenever someone questioned leadership qualities of younis, afridi etc. They would resign immediately... team would then get hammered... beg then to come back... and on their return younis n co would hit a century or take 5 wkts to prove their worth. Spinless sarfaraz blames batsmen getting out when well set. He doesnt even get a start never mind getting set!!! Yet has the nerve to blame others...

Younis wanted to play for another two years under the condition that he be made captain but the PCB refused to oblige him. I wonder if our test team would have benefited with Younis as captain and Sarfaraz as his deputy for 2-3 years?

Younis has been blackmailing PCB for a while. It was the reason why he was included in the 2015 WC. Time to move on as he was already old.

Younis Khan helped us chase the 300 against srilanka in one of Pakistan’s greatest test win. I believe we wouldn’t have lost this match if he was around. Even other batsmen performed when Younis was on the pitch.

If anyone can convince him to come back for a bit, it's you Saj 😁.

Miss tiger Khan and his courage in situations where buzdils like Hafeez, Malik, Azhar etc crumble.

How much do SL miss Sangakkara, Jayawardane & Dilshan?
How much do India miss Dravid, Laxman and Sachin?
How much do Australia miss Ponting, Clarke, Hayden and Gilly?

The list is endless. Teams have legends retire and then they rebuild. It takes time. You always miss players of that calibre but the reality of the matter is that they are not coming back.
