How seriously should we (as fans) take the matches against the World XI?

The importance of these games cannot be discounted in terms of a message to other foreign teams but in cricketing terms, what will a victory against such a team prove and would you expect a whitewash or a closely fought series?

Cherish the 3 matches as much as possible.

Praise or critique based on performance afterwards. Sept 12-15 should be about cricket coming to Pakistan and not about Shehzad's lack of intent in the powerplay or Sohail Khan's fitness.

PAK fans during the matches.

Hard to say.

I remember when i was quite young, i was watching a series between World 11 vs Australia. World 11 vs Asia 11, Africa 11 vs World 11.

I think one was the ICC super series, and the other was the afro asia cup

Not very seriously at all.

The World Xi team is not even the best team of players around.

This series is being done as a PR stunt and a political move so take any performances with a grain of salt.

Sure it's not the best team in the world but if someone scores against Morkel/Tahir or gets the likes of Amla/Faf/Miller out, it shouldn't count for anything?

I think that is the least of our concern. We should hope that everything is ok so more teams can come like srilanka and bangladesh and progressing from there england and australia. We have had to start way behind zero after 2009 and this is just step number one.

Exactly, that's just common sense; have no idea why people are disrespecting those cricketers. This World XI is a high calibre team and they may just win the series given their strength, a win over them is to be valued

Once they get onto the field, just like any other game Pakistan play.

Agreed. Dunno why people are crying. Should be grateful

Not very seriously. All eyes will be what happens off the field with security. If the matches are good and we see some standout performances from our boys that's a bonus.

God forbid there's a repeat of what happened in the 2015 Zimbabwe series, any incident will put progress back years.

Don't take it too lightly though. Zimbabwe were on course to chase down 300 against us in 2015 going at a rpo of 7 in Lahore :))) thank God rain stopped the match else security situation would've escalated with supporters throwing things.

I don't take care if we lose as long as it's not a 100 all out deal for us and opposition chases it down with no wickets lost in 7 overs. Just hope game goes on without issues. This is the biggest game in Pakistan since 2009.

Result is pretty irrelevant, it's more important that the game finishes with no incidents off the pitch.

I would suggest that quicker we move on with chip on shoulder about security etc and treat this as serious cricket the sooner the better

Otherwise it will be joke cricket

Cricket wise I think T20s should only be taken seriously when they are played in world T20 cup. All the bilateral T20's should only be fun cricket and chance to give youngsters exposure at international level.

How can we? The improving security situation is the whole reason these matches are being played

Bro then why not invite the players for a cup of tea and show them some traditional dances and the Shalimar bagh and put them back on a plane?

Surely as CT champions we need to treat these game seriously and win as well.

Man I miss those days. Definitely miss those world v Asia XL. Brings all the players and nations together

I just wan't to see a close competition. Results wan't really matter to me personally.

Its Gaddafi stadium, and a win should be guaranteed.

Just friendly matches. Its being staged to show the process of security during a match to officials from other countries.

All I want is for roof GSL to be painted, the overhead shots make it look digusting with the rust. Also better cameras but pretty sure they have invested nothing in their media infrastructure.

But I thought these matches have international status?

In all honesty I see the matches as a lot of money being paid to a group of cricketers who are mainly only in it for the money.

These are not friendly matches or for exhibition. Nor to throw away a million dollars for 3 hours of entertainment. A purpose which will go a long way. Like we say in any investments, you have to spend money to make money. So it's important to take these games seriously.

Pretty seriously if you win it.. otherwise yawn!

No one should take the matches as such too seriously.

However it should be a catylist to bring cricket back to Pakistan so from that point it's very important and hopefully everything will go through smoothly without incident.

I'll take them quite seriously. It'll be great to see our younger players go shot for shot against Amla, Tahir, Morkel and Faf.

Very very seriously, we need to put on a good show and win; this world XI team will not lay down like jobbers
