How to become a Hindu

The difference to me is between people who make up their own stuff, rather than believe stuff others have made up.

From what I can understand going through this thread, some Muslims have no tolerance towards another different way of life and religion and no respect. They just troll and taunt the concept of Hinduism and its ways of life, and have been doing such gaslighting since centuries.
I don’t know why my Hindu brothers are giving space and answers to such toxic individuals.
As a Sikh myself I have deep appreciation of concepts like Nirvana, Enlightenment and Isht Devta. We Sikhs are monotheistic but appreciate Hindu concepts and way of also. Cannot say the same about Pakistani Muslims from whatever interaction I had with them.
Arab Muslims are more tolerant and acceptable in my interactions with them.

I think you are derailing the thread where we all have a good and open conversation going on. No one has said anything offending or any personal attack being instigated. The dialogue is scratching the surface of philosophical aspect of Hinduism and we are having a good respectable exchange of dialogue. No one is cussing out at anyone else's religion.

So if you are a snowflake or can't participate in an intellectual dialogue about theological philosophy, then might as well put the thread on ignore rather than sweating your blood.

Hindus are confused lol. There are no rules in Hinduism.
That is not a conversation/discussion that is gaslighting.

There are threads about minorities in Pakistan if you want to talk about other topics. Keep this one on track

Freedom to pray when you want, whom you want to or not pray at all. You can sit and meditate at your convenience and look for the God(peace and happiness) within yourself. Hindus believe God is within you.

Also believe that there are multiple ways to reach eternal peace and Nirvana. There is Shiva's way, Buddha's way, Mahavir's way, Krishna's way etc. You choose what best suits you. No one will judge you.

Inner peace has always been a goal of every religion, but how as a hindu would I apply such concepts to real world problems? Jagannath Temple in Puri is reported to have a problem with rat infestation today, but there are arguments raging about how to deal with it in a nature-friendly manner. Rats are eating the food offerings, and then leaving behind their rat droppings which disturbs worshippers when they come in to offer their prayers. How as a Hindu would I deal with such a situation?

Religion isn't about stricter rules, but consistent rules, which clearly Hinduism lacks.

Frankly speaking, based on the responses in this thread - and I duly note Hindus are not really responding to each other - Hindusim doesn't fall into the Religion or Spirituality categories.

Hinduism (based on this thread) seems is just a (con)fusion of culture.

Hinduism doesn't fall into YOUR category of religion or spirituality.

Calling other people's faith a con seems to be your culture.

You clearly have issues. I was referring to Hinduism as being a confusion and fusion based on this thread - nothing about being a con, though I can understand how quirks in the English language can confuse you.

Your own brethren claim in this thread that Hinduism is neither a religion nor spirituality- now go argue with them instead, come back with a collective definition of what Hinduism is, then we will talk further.

I think he won’t be able to.

And this is an interesting part of this discussion

So far, it doesn’t look like there is a standard definition of Hinduism.

Perhaps the actual message is long lost. And now, it perhaps evolved into “Hinduism is whatever you want it to be in an effort to achieve that nirvana thingy.

I guess an extreme example of this would be those cow vigilantes. They have lost it all to the point that they may not even know what nirvana is.
And when they same cow dies on a street, they put it to dogs to eat.

I’ve seen Hindus eating cow meat and I have seen Hindus taking dips in piles fresh cow dung to achieve nirvana.

And perhaps another good example would be the rats

On one hand there is a rat Hindu temple to achieve nirvana - on the other hand, there are other parts of India where Hindus hunt and eat rats.
For them. It’s not a holy animal.

Some believe there is hell and Heaven, others believe in reincarnation. But they can’t answer what a plant needs to do to achieve the next level and become a monkey or something on the next life - or what does a virus need to do become a giraffe in the next life?
And why is human population increasing in this cycle of reincarnation?

It seems like millions of animals and plants are becoming humans every yea but everyone is stuck at human level - no human seems to achieve the next level - so from one, we have now become close to 8 billion.

So as I said, it looks like there is only rule in Hinduism, and that is, there are no rules.

I have no idea honestly. The system is confusing.
:inti

It seems like anybody can believe anything and people can make up things as they go.

It is called culture and that’s how they evolve. Starts with an influential person, then by a group and then by a nation. All cultures evolve this way. :mv

yeh but who practices this in todays society, do you think the englishman whos even surnames had this (specific surnames) based on what job they do aka people with green as surname did forestry work = they dont do this know

yours is basically slave forced labour till this day.

and which person made the decision that someone will be aloud to be a actor/actress / pilot / sports/ fitness trainer = as these jobs werent around in those day

and why are the dalits still treated so bad till the day?

No one practices caste system in this day and age. A person’s caste only matters when it comes to marriage(arranged). It happens mostly in small towns and villages.

Dalits are treated badly in this day and age? They have reservation in almost every thing that belongs to government. The largest employer in India is government of India. Most jobs go to Dalits and OBC’s. There is also a law where any slur called against Dalits will ensure a swift punishment and jail time.

Most Pakistanis have no idea the situation in India has changed in the last few decades. Dalits were marginalized during British period. Hindu caste system only started taking roots to its present form since about 10th century.

I find it funny how caste system is blamed on Brahmins. It always existed and not the 2% Brahmin population who do not even fight imposed on 98% of the population.

I don’t blame you for not understanding it as most Indians also don’t know anything about it.

By the way you said it is slave labor forced today on Dalits? What a joke. No one forces anybody to work as a slave in India and never was.

Slavery is unknown in India. It is however a common thing in Arabia and west.

@Cpt. Rishwat did you receive your answer? There is lots of posts don't want to scroll through lol

Not really. I think it is possible to become a low caste Hindu at any time, but I guess we desis already have some caste associations which we carried into Pakistan and beyond. I was thinking more of someone outside, let's say a westerner who marries a practising Hindu lady like JD Vance. Does he inherit her cast whatever that is? Or Nikki Hayley's husband? Priyanka Chopra?
