Hey guys,

Ran into a small problem this morning. I have a large .flac file that I need to cut into smaller .flac audio clips. The file is a fully recorded studio album.

I know the positions of where individual songs starts and ends so is there any way I can cut this large .flac into smaller ones without actually changing the format or compressing it to anything other than .flac ??

Would appreciate if you can let me know. Thanks

Audacity is a pretty versatile program, and it is free. According to the following link it supports the .flac format.

I read up on both of the methods that you posted brother, I believe that it was the exact question I was referring to however, both the tutorials mentioned something of a cue file that unfortunately I did not posses with the original (large) .flac recorded file of mine.

In any case thank you for taking the time to reply to this, I highly appreciate it.

P.S. I got the task done via audacity, it's an open source audio editing software that enables user to cut clippings from a given large file and fortunately enough it supports the .flac format as well. Even though there are still a few issues with the lossless format (no track #, other album details) I believe the bulk of the job is rather complete with the successful cutting of the files into smaller ones.

Appreciate the link and your response on the matter. Yes ! I downloaded audacity and got the desired result of splitting .flac files into smaller audio clips.

Since it's a lossless format 1 song is almost 40+ mb, (the quality is absolutely amazing though) however, I am not too sure how I would add track # and artist details as unlike mp3 there is no function for me to attach these attributes with the audio file.

Anyways the intial problem is resolved but I guess I need to read up a few help guides to get to know the usage of Audacity.

Thanks again!
