How will Pakistan fans react if their team fails to reach the semi-finals stage of the World Cup?

No not acceptable. Just a consolation & will probably result in some besharam guys hanging on even longer & some fickle followers rejoicing too 🤦🏽*♂️
 
No ones replying, so let me kick this off. If we dont win the WC( which looks likely) but we beat india, i will take this as a consolation prize, as long as india dont win the WC! At least the streak will be broken!
 
Ind vs Pak group game has little significance as it is round robin format fixture. First let's try to qualify for semis..

Actually, pak cricket has scooped this low due to poor governance of domestic cricket. Are you an indian fan? If so, let me ask you, if india fail to win the WC , but beat pakistan, to keep the streak alive, will you be happy?
 
This team is so very poor, qualifying for semis is near impossible, and victory against india or any other major teams is also highly unlikely.

Dude! Are you serious? Is that even a sensible question? WC win >>>>>>>> any streak against any opposition.

India has 2 50 over WC titles and Pak 1 so I would presume Pak wanting to win 1 more than winning a single group game and break the streak.

They should be happy. Winning against India is more prestigious than winning WC.
 
Well Pakistan was not realistically expected to make the semis anyway so I guess if they beat India and, in doing so, also ensure that India crash out of the tournament, Pakistan fans should be happy.

Everyone wants to win the WC. only 1 team will, the rest are going to be disappointed. We at the moment dont even look like we will qualify for the semis. So if that is the case, but we beat india and end the streak, is that not the next best thing?

Sl also haven't beaten Pak in 7-8 WC matches, do you think they will be contended by just beating Pak in this WC and loosing all other matches? The way Pak has been playing lately, nobody is taking them seriously.Just an odd win here and there won't do any good, in the end it will still be a disastrous WC for Pakistan.
 
The sensible ones will be very disappointed but will accept that success and failure are two sides of the same coin. Being experienced and intelligent humans they will not over react and be hopeful for the future. You cannot win all the time.

This is what a former indian captain said, that winning against Pak is more prestigious than winning the cup.But thankfully no Pakistani cricketer has come up with such idiotic statement so far!

Very sensible! But considering that we have never beaten india in the WC, if we do this time, but fail to qualify for semis, is this still not something to celebrate?

But only 1 team can win the WC.
What would be worse, failing to win the WC but beating pakistan or failing to win the WC and losing to pakistan?

I bet you dreaded pak beating aussies in the 99 final. And when pak lost in the final, i bet that made you happy. The pain of not qualifying yourselves was a little bit erased. And then you remembered you beat pak in the group stage, i bet that made you happy. Am i right?

I would not begrudge SL if they beat us. We do not have a rivalry with SL. However, lndia vs Pak is the biggest rivalry in sport(though the indians dimiss the rivalry now, though many of them cried when they lost the CT against us!), and we have never beaten them in a world cup, a streak spanning 27 years. Shameful! But if we beat them in this WC, but do not qualify for the semis, is this still not something to rejoice?

So come on pak fans, tell me how you would feel if pak failed to make the semis. Also, same question to indian, bengali, afghani, lankans,windies, aussie, kiwis proteas and english fans repectively. How would you guys feel if your team fails to make the semis?
 
I think Pakistani cricket leadership & fans are used to this new low standards - we will probably change a selector and bring back the guy that was the cause of failure at the last world cup.

Our below average cricket stars will be happy with pathetic little personal milestones.

But we won the CT in the same country, against the same top teams only 2 years ago. And now we cant even make the semis. That would be shameful!

This. Its a game with up and downs. Always will back the team going forward no matter what!
 
Pakistan is unlikely to reach the semis. Might as well beat India and break the 23 yr streak. I would take that deal.
 
Well they dont have any realistic chance. I just want them to not give up so meekly like against Windies

If we lose both we should accept we not qualifying
 
Sadness at our team not making it.
Happy to beat India if it happens especially if it knocks them out of semis too.
And not surprised or shocked at all at overall outcomes other than beating India part as based on our ranking and recent team performance and skills we do not deserve to be in top 4. It would take some flukes, bit of luck, and sheer out of the blue one man wonder performances for us to make it and even them it may seem a bit unfair for the likes of one ofEngland,Australia, south Africa new zealand and India to not make it.
Lastly, I would look forward to change in coaching staff, selection committee, captain and domestic structure to see what long term improvement can happen with our team over next 2 years or so rather than 2 months only.

So bottom line a little sad and happy mixed feeling, while not surprised and looking forward to the future with some hope.
 
How can any body be surprised.
We need to win 6 games of cricket out of 8, so will need to be sl and Aus if we lose to eng.
Otherwise India game is a knockout. We don't want that.

I don't have any high expectation of this team qualifying for semis.It will be a bonus if Pak qualifies.Pakistan's domestic system is to blame.Other countries select best performers in their domestic cricket,we just select players randomly .
 
It is inevitable under this current uninspired leadership.

This team is probably already looking forward to next season's PSL.

Nothing can trump holding aloft the trophy high in the air.
 
If Pakistan fail to reach the world cup Semi Finals, so what, it is not the end of the world, there's always the next ICC Tournament to look forward to anyway! Move on. If anything, failing to qualify for the knockout stages will usher in some much needed changes! Though personally the tournament postmortem is what I will be looking forward to by the fans/media/players etc - always entertaining to see grown men lose the plot in a melodramatic way because their team lost. Of course if Pakistan do win the WC, I will be scouring the net for highlight packages/and runner-up disintegration! :D
 
They will react by posting tons of jokes about the team on social media :). Fans have entered the WC with defeated mindset. They are not expecting much from the team this time. Also, the hunger is not quite there either having won a major trophy only two years ago. Media i guess would be busy with the political showdown which is expected to begin after Eid, and they might as well have not much time to give cricket much coverage in those days.

Winning the WC Final @ Mumbai & receiving the trophy from Modi while Imran Khan standing with the team will be the ultimate satisfaction for me. IA in 2023
 
I will say better luck next time. This is my team no matter what the result is I will still support it. This team has given us so much joy in the past. This team has won the 1992 Word Cup, T20 World Cup and Champions Trophy and Inshallah many more in future. Win or lose doesn't matter what matters is support your team especially when their moral is down.
 
Are you serious? Pakistan will be on a plane home before the semifinals, anyone could have predicted that long before the tournament started.
 
The result would not be a surprise. Hopefully it can lead to some changes like introducing a specialist spinner.
 
If you guys fail to qualify:
1) PPers will ask for Shoaib Malik's head. Burn his poster/pictures. 10 threads minimum. Mods having a hard time to put them all in one place. Then giving up.
2) Call Inzi to retire, quit because he kept S Malik in the team.
3) Articles on the coach, how he failed to see S Malik as the root cause of all problems.

I have been here 13 years +. I know how PPers think.

itd be disappointing The pakistan team isnt great but theres always the aim of winning the cup however unrealistic they may be

Anything less will not be acceptable
 
It wont be unexpected but it would be really disappointing as a fan and obviously i want them to win the worldcup,not just exit from the semis because there is always hope.

But if they do exit,there wont be any drastic changes tbh.Even if the management is replaced it will be the same old incompetent TTFs who will replace them.One good outcome however would be that some of the wannabe superstars in our team will be taken down a peg or two.They have become too entitled to the love and support of the fans and have been living off the champions trophy glory for too long and having free rides in the team on the basis of performances in that tourney.If they come back with a group stage exit,God forbid,that would put them in their proper place and i dont care if i am being harsh here but they deserve it.It infuriates me to see that they enjoy all the priviliges of being part of such a prestigious journey but do not give it their all like it demands.Its like they dont realize the legacy that we have in cricket and it is not fit for every mediocre player to enjoy free rides in this team because only the best deserve to be on its helm who can give it their all.
 
Anyone expecting a semifinals spot must be living under a stone.

Pakistan and Afghanistan are the minnows of this World Cup. The target should be to not end at the bottom of the points table.

How can you possibly say Imam is a non performing player compared to some of the players you didn't include in that list? He's our most consistent player.
 
Lets hope we can win a game or even two at this world cup, semi final place with current weak side would be a miracle.
 
What can we do other then be really upset then get over t after a few weeks?
