It is no secret that the current Pakistani batting line up is lacking the firepower needed in modern day cricket. While they played well I SA, they haven't been able to close out matches due to their inability to up the ante when required.

Honestly bar Fakhar there is currently no one who can play with a decent strike rate against both pace and spin. Having said that Pak does have quite a few accumulators who have the inability to strike boundaries.

Wasim Akram is one player whose batting was severely unutilized. HE had this ability to strike big and bat well in pressure games. His knock in the world cup finsl eventually made the difference though people keep mentioning his 2 magic deliveries, his cameo helped them post a decent total. There are sevaral such innings wherein he bailed Pakistan out of trouble. HE however haven't taken his batting seriously probably because IK wanted him to focus on batting. But the ability was very much there.

Do you think Akram would have found a role in this team purely on batting credentials? With the easing batting conditions he would have been a much better better in today's age. I dare say that the current team has no one who could handle pressure as well as he did during his playing days, is more committed and can strike pace and spin better. His batting average hardly does a justice to the batsman who he could have been. It must be reminded that he also has a double hundred in test cricket. He would have murdered n
bowlers in power play or could be a tremendous late order hitter. Thoughts?

He was a dangerous batsmen. He would’ve loved the era of t20 on flat decks!

He was a quality allrounder but due to his exceptional bowling the batting was very underrated.

From Wasim Akram and Abdul Razzaq, to shadab khan and faheem ashraf. Damn, The mighty have fallen. Wasim akram would be absolute gold in this team.

Although contrary to the popular belief, Pakistan did have batting riches in the 80s to mid 200x - the period when Wasim represented Pakistan. The likes of Zaheer Abbas, Rameez Raja (Was a decent opening bat especially in tournaments and against the arch rivals), Javed Miandad, Salon Malik, Ijaz, Imran Khan, Saeed Anwar, Aamir Sohail, Inzi, Yusuf Youhana, Younis Khan, Basit Ali .... the list is big enough. With this much of batting talent at their disposal it is not surprising that Wasim had very few opportunities to bat and prove his credentials. However whenever he did, he made it count.

From then to these days of flat decks and impotent batsmen, Wasim would have been an absolute welcome in the current line up. HE would have given the likes of Warner, Finch, Munro, Fakhar and the likes a run for their money.

He would replace imam as an opener.

I guess we are being bitter and harsh on Imam. Imam the opener is playing his role to perfection- his batting style complements Fakhar quite well. HE just completed a 100 in SA and has an ODI average of 60+. HE was decent in tests too.
