Hasan Ali speaking to media:

"Waqar Younis has always been my ideal and I know I can't match him but I am doing my best to perform well and help Pakistan win"

"There is definitely a shortage of all-rounders in the team and we are all practising hard to try and bridge that gap"

"We are working hard with Azhar Mahmood to bowl effectively with the old and new ball and God Willing, we will win the LOI Series in the West Indies"

"I am ready and willing to play in all three formats of the game; it is now up to the selectors to decide whether I am good enough for Tests or not"

"We have the same issue in the UAE as in the West Indies where wickets aren't good for fast-bowlers but we will do our best to take wickets and give away less runs"

Loving the down to earth attitude, unlike most of our players. I'm sure Hasan Ali can turn into a gem of an all rounder for Pakistan. That cover drive in the PSL is just a glimpse of his batting ability and his bowling this season proves, without a shadow of a doubt, Hasan is most definitely the best emerging bowler in the country.

Exciting young talent is Hasan Ali.

Good to see that the players are working hard. That's all you can really ask for from them. As long as they stay away from controversies.

Hopefully he gets selected for the Test series.

I think the wickets in WI are similar to UAE. Both places have slow pitches; But in UAE you get more turn while in WI you get more swing/seam because of the climate in the respective areas. So Hasan shouldn't expect to get the same wickets he gets in the UAE when he goes to WI.

Our cricket team looks very promising with the addition of
Hassan Ali
Sharjeel
Fakhar Zaman
Talat Hussain
Babar Azam
Ruman Raees
Usman Shinwari
Amir
Shadab Khan
Imad Wasim

Such a gem of a cricketer this lad. I pity the people who were writing him off based on his height.

He is an excellent bowler, a sharp fielder and no mug with the bat. He can easily be a Sohail Khan level of batsman if he works hard on it.

That Kohli-esque cover drive tho...

This guy is going places. Just so much energy in him.

All the best to him , he can be a good third pacer in our team. Should develop his batting more though.

Sharp fielder?

Hopefully he's selected in the WI squad for the Tests, it's about time that we gave chances to a new pacer. Can't stick with mediocrity for ever.

Inzi best select him in the test squad.

But this guy is a brilliant find. Big fan of his. Hope he keeps improving like he has been since he made international debut.

He is the real deal and he will only get better. I was very happy when he took the last wicket in the PSL final and the boy has some swagger as well :)

I like Hasan Ali, but he is at least 6 inches too short to ever be a specialist Test fast bowler. It's totally out of the question.

He needs to work like mad on his batting to become a viable Test Number 7, because he will never, ever make the grade as a specialist bowler.

The only way he could have a successful career as a Test bowler would be if he borrowed Oscar Pistorius' prosthetic legs to give himself a bit of extra height.

Marshall didn't do too bad.

:)

Sure, but Marshall, Steyn and Harris are three fast bowlers in fifty years under 6 foot who succeeded.

Is Hasan Ali in that class?

Waqar and Shoaib were also 5'11. Philander is another.

Hasan, what he lacks in height he makes up with skill and a thoughtful bowling brain.

Except Philander all had express pace Plus Philander wont be effective on non bouncy wickets. Hasan Ali is at best Fast medium.

Agree with you 100%, with his short status, Hasan will never be a test class 300 wicket specialist fast bowler. Has to work on other skills , particularly batting to be a useful bowling all rounds, sort of, to have a long career. He is bit taller than Bhatti but shorter than Waqar and Shaib, who also were not tall.

Let him mature and cemented his place in LOI and a lot depended on his fitness level too.

He looks more of a spearhead than Mohammad Amir, its a tragedy he doesn't get more of the new ball.
