Great to hear. Hopefully.this Zafar will gets lots.ot chances to play in PSL and get more attention, and eventually get to Pakistan's team. Although Ajmal is a chucker, he still was very smart and tactful, and could teach Zafar on how to set up a batsman etc.

I think Zafar is ready for Test cricket. The only question is whether Azhar will play the 6-5 combination and let Zafar bat at 7. I think Zafar is more than capable, but I doubt if Azhar is brave enough to do it.

No..our batting is brittle and.we need the extra specialist batsman. Zafar should replace Yasir at no.8 .

You need 5 bowlers to take 20 wickets - it’s simple maths.

In terms of number 7, I reckon it’s your batting needs which decide.

If you need a guy who can average 35 with the bat and 38 with the ball - eg Tests in SENA - you pick Shadab Khan.

If it’s more optimal to pick a guy who will average 25 with the bat but 32 with the ball, you pick Zafar Gohar.

shadab is not on teh radar any more and rightly so..picking his 20 20 leagues and even their he is struggling to get in the teams..Gohar did well last year he needs to be told how to spin the bowl sharply i can see him only being challenge to yasir other wise yasir will be playing till he is 40!!

Always believed that Zafar Gohar should get a chance.

In Tests, he can replace Yasir who is finished if i’m being honest.

In T20Is, he can replace Shadab whose form is awful. Shadab was one of the main reasons why we were winning so many T20I matches in 2017 and 2018. With Shadab’s form on a low, Zafar should be given a chance.

Azhar will not decide that, its Misbah???

Whilst he was very disappointing in the QEA First Class final, he still had a pretty good season.

His batting has progressed, but it may affect his bowling.

I do too but Zafar doesn't help his own case sometimes.

He was meant to make his Test debut in 2015 but overslept for his flight. He had a great QEA Trophy this season despite extremely batting friendly surfaces, but choked in the televised final. You got to take your chances man.

Agree with this, but Shadab has fallen behind in his development, I'm afraid.

Azhar picks the playing XI from the squad.

His batting will hopefully also shine in
Hoping as I feel all rounders will be get most limelight in home conditions.

No disrespect to Zafar Gohar, but his bowling average was mediocre. Sajid Khan was the stand out performer for me, he is different, he is an off spinner, can bat too, young as well. If not him, even Shadab averaged 28 with the ball after 2 games. My preferred choice would be Sajid Khan, followed by Shadab Khan, followed by Mohammad Mohsin (out of the box pick but will be worth it) for the upcoming Test series.

Ajmal will obviously hype up his own student, no matter what. He's also a well-known, proven thrower.

We have to look at the best performing spinners from this season who may have done well on these difficult tracks for spin bowling.

If it's Zafar, then he should be on the radar.

Not sure a bowler with illegal action , who was banned from bowling and with that ended up his own career is the right person to coach and mentor any other budding spinner ?

His action might not be legal, but he had one of the most functional brain as a spinner - can be a very good mentor. At this age, Zafar doesn’t need someone to teach him fundamentals, rather someone to guide him in different conditions, against different teams - Ajmal was damn good in that. Guy never/hardly won MoM, because when he performed, often PAK lost; but he had 10fors in SAF & WIN, 5for in India & in UK - he knows the tactics & strategy behind spin bowling.

I don;t care what Ajmal did, he did with an illegal action. He could not save his own career by correcting his action , not sure what exactly he will coaching to others. Only Misbah can have a chucker as his teams bowling coach, as Misbah himself used him with his illegal action for most of his successes in UAE.

Shadab is an excellent fielder and proven match winner. He needs support while his form is down. Other youngsters can be nurtured and should be kept with the squad/A squad

Funny enough you didn't mention how ICC had to tweak the rules to put him into the illegal category. As per that rule, someone like Murli also had illegal action. We all know about this tweak in ICC rule in 2014, we just we just don't want to admit it.

If six batsmen can't get you 400+, seven can't either.

Exactly!

Pakistan should be going with 5 bowlers at all costs. If gohar makes it into the test side and shadab is fit, both should play and both can do a job with the bat.

So many so called cricket fans on here dont seem to actually watch the sport or know about it

You are perfectly correct and the rules were changed with the removal of medical exemptions, which if they had happened earlier would have led to the end of akhtar and muralis careers too.
