"I was initially selected as a bowler and Haroon Rasheed didn't know I could bat too" : Abdul Razzaq

Abdul Razzaq speaking on TV:

"I have started on fitness and training again and I'm trying to play a bit of T10, T20 cricket at domestic level."

"I have always enjoyed training as everyone does. With motivation and concentration, you can improve your fitness in a short period of time. I like training and running."

"Everyone enjoys eating but I try to eat grilled food to minimise oil consumption. When you train then nutrition completely changes as you automatically need to consume more protein etc."

"People make some mistakes in their life; I migrated to England for 3-4 years and I completely moved away from cricket. I was playing league cricket etc. but I was detached from cricket."

"Now I am back in Pakistan and I have a contract in T10, I am also coaching with Sui Gas and will try and play shorter formats when I get an opportunity."

"I am also QG assistant coach alongside Moin Khan. I think PSL has been started quite late; if it would have been started 10 years earlier then we'd also play, it's very exciting. PSL has brought great benefits for Pakistan cricket, you can see how many players are coming through. Due to PSL, talented players can't be overlooked any longer."

"Wasim Akram was my ideal after the 92 WC."

"I was initially selected as a bowler and the selector Haroon Rasheed didn't know I could bat too. I got a chance at 10 or 11 so I made some big scores so they realised I can contribute with the bat too."

"I was the one who used to order spinach in the dressing room but I would only eat a little, everyone else would eat it all!"

Trying to stay in the news Abdul Razzaq but his career as coach is what is interesting now

Why do these former stars realise their mistakes too late. I wish he’d realised ten years ago that his fitness was lacking and as the only quality seaming all rounder he would have had unchallenged selection in the playing 11 in any format for Pakistan if he was just more mature and didn’t mouth off in the media every five min

Lack of proper fitness coaches/guidance

In late 90s, only a single player hit the gym properly -- Shoiab Akhtar

Last comment was funny.

Akhtar called him a softie in one of his interviews
