Misbah-ul-Haq speaking after end of game against Karachi Kings

The bounce was low and the ball wasn't coming on to the bat that well however we should have got to the target of 127

*It's only when we play such pressure games and perform well that our batsmen will improve themselves in the future

There are obvious problems in our cricket that we need to improve at the domestic level (talking about IU failure to chase low total)

All we needed was a good partnership for us in this game which we could not provide

As a senior player when you don't contribute then that also puts pressure on your team

Talking about playing in psl again and also Pakistan : Let's see, I need sometime to think about it

Will he attend Lahore final? Let's see he said and everyone laughed

The decision for captain for West Indies tour is for the board

I am honoured that the chairman has left it to me to decide about my future so I will take a decision on my future very soon as team for West Indies tour needs to be decided soon

We are obviously disappointed that we aren't in the final but this will be a huge occasion for our Pakistan cricket fans

Losing Sharjeel and Latif who were in good form had an impact on our plans as it's difficult find replacements for such players at such a short notice

*Leave the decision for next Test captain with the PCB

how youngsters would learn to play under pressure by playing under someone who can't play underpressure.

like they did when he won the tournament last year

that's nice..more time..until Inzi is forced to pick him..:))

it was Smith,Watson,Haddin and SHarjeel. I don't think he played any good knock under pressure.

When they win..it's because of other players..when they lose, it's Misbah's fault. Misbah haters logic.

He can take as long he likes, that's his right. However the selectors are well within their rights to not select him. But we all know how gutless our board is that they're held to ransom by every player.

Yes Misbah we have been hearing this for about two months now.

Win us the West Indies series, then you can leave.

Should be forced to leave actually if he doesn't leave after WI, but I'm pretty sure he will go on his own.

Oh buddy you clearly didn't see Misbah in PSL last year... he was at the top of his game. His strike rate was outstanding

Misbah is just not thinking straight, I don't know if he is getting poor advice from certain quarters or what, but I expected much better from a thoughtful individual like him.

Firstly, winning the series in the Caribbean means nothing at all. Yes we haven't done it before, but WI has been a mediocre team for two decades now, and we would have won there 17 years ago if it wasn't for some pathetic umpiring.

Yes there is historical significance of winning there but absolutely no contemporary significance. He's fooling himself if he thinks that winning the series there will whitewash the embarrassment of the 6 consecutive losses - a Pakistani record. Not to mention, the losing streak started with the team he wants to beat now.

In his quest to retire on a high, he has lost all perception. There is no 'high' in beating a team ranked 8th, especially when you were pictured holding the Mace only a few months back. The time for going out on a high has gone.

Nonetheless, although there is nothing to gain from winning in the Caribbean, there is plenty to lose. If somehow Pakistan manages to lose the series or even a Test, it will further tarnish his legacy, and he will have to walk out humiliated and with the most losses as Test captain from Asia, a record he proudly shares with Dhoni at the moment, although he has captained less matches and has toured major overseas teams less often than him.

He still has time to accept the reality of the situation and not go by emotion. He has to retire now, there is no other way.

Most likely !! but being the rational individual he has been over the past 6 years, I expected better from him tbh.

The first time I ever shed tears for a test match, I had started watching cricket for a couple of years before this and quite frankly it is still to this day is...The biggest heart break for me :( - I was eight back then and it irks me that in the last 1.5 decade we still haven't managed to beat freaking WEST INDIES  :sanga

This last part, if you don't mind can I snapshot the latter and Tweet to the great man himself, maybe someone just needs to show him a mirror and all might fall in place accordingly - only if you're ok with it !!

Misbah ul Haq is going through that phase of his career which James Bond went through in Skyfall..

However a half fit Bond is still a valuable asset, Her Majesty's orders

More like "A View To A Kill".

An old man who is at least a decade too old for the job is making a fool of himself because nobody dares to get rid of him until he chooses to go.

Rather like Pearce Brosnan, Roger Moore got the job a decade too late, and ended up looking like James Bond's grandfather by the end.

West Indies are no walkovers esp at home. Haters forgetting how they have beat major Test teams and favorites of their own.

Misbah is needed to take us to this glory.

:najam

Beating WI wouldn't have been an achievment for 'my favorite' team, but losing a Test was certainly embarrassing. :root

The favorites couldn't beat us even at their own home. Because of the guy we want to hate. Oh..and the 2 other tries too that resulted in demolition. :baelish

It's going to be his last stand, where we'll finally claim a victory in the Caribbean. I can let him go then. :shezzy

Misbah's reflexes are gone, pacers will be getting him more often than not, or will at least dry his run scoring up and then he will have to try and attack the spinners.

As I said, there is no worth of claiming a victory in the Caribbean. West Indies are ranked 8th in the world, they are supposed to be no match for the guy who drew with my favorite team away.

He gains nothing from this tour, but has plenty to lose potentially. A very poor and unjustifiable decision.

The legacy is getting tarnished day by day which is really sad

It's all his undoing. I don't agree that he should have retired after the England tour. Going to Australia with a new captain and getting thrashed would have been a bad idea, the new captain deserves to be eased in and the Caribbean tour is the ideal time to hand over the reigns.

He should have announced his retirement soon after the Australian tour ended. I personally thought he would do so as soon he returns to Pakistan, but here we are months later, and he still needs time to think.

I used to respect Misbah a lot, not anymore, if he doesn't care about Pakistan cricket by not retiring, I don't care about him, just want him to leave the team and spend more time with his young family, they need him more.

How many times will Misbah repeat himself? It has been more than two months yet he still hasnt made up his mind. In all honesty, this is getting somewhat annoying now.

He's doing it on purpose. He's desperate to continue and he knows that the first match in the West Indies is in 28 days.

He's just trying to run down the clock to ensure that he is selected as Test skipper.

Why can't our players just retire in peace for gods sake!

May be he wants to play another 4 years. Looks like he is very pleased with his current form. PCB fell for its own trap and can't sack both Misbah and Younis

If he does not want to retire why not say so since he has the preference when he wants to retire

Misbah you are only doing harm to your legacy if you continue being stubborn.

I bet he had been dreaming in his slumber of bringing home the trophy for Islamabad United and then announcing his intention to continue till 2020, a pipe dream that he got brutally aroused from last night when KK beat his team. Now, he is just dragging his feet and playing for time...stating again that the decision will come real soon--when this 'soon' for him probably means in year 2020.

Well there is no way of winning the Test if he and Younus play like passengers.

Ab to kaan pak gaey hain yeh sun sun kr

He needs to expedite his thinking speed

So besically he lied ... After PSL ... He will never leave ... Pakistan will be better off him .. We have Sarfraz ..

His thinking speed is like his strike rate.

:salute

There have been too many Tuks Tuks in this regard. Time to hit a six after 100 dot ball; and tell us wth is he thinking

He should call it a day now

Misbah hasn't led PAK at home. If this PSL final ends well & if ICC provides Afghanistan Test status; by 2019 or even early, PAK might host first Test series at home in 10 years.

That's a good target for Misbah actually - just about 2/3 years waiting; he is fit & hungry; he can easily manage that. Also, he needs only about 25 Tests to reach 100 mark ......

If we mess up against WI, the legend will want another chance for ''glory''. Kartay kartay pachaas saal ka ho jai ga bechara.

This ''legend deserves to leave on a high'' nonsense peddled by his followers is the most ridiculous notion. Noone is bigger than the team, and him carrying on is robbing our new captain a a chance for an easy series.

The "can't retire before a hard tour of New Zealand and Australia" line was an obvious lie, but he was probably lying to himself too, not just the public.

But he is a smart guy, and now that he has failed to do the honourable thing and allow a new skipper to start with a straightforward tour of the West Indies, he must realize that he has destroyed his own excuse for staying on previously.

Add just few more years, he can break Wilfred Rhodes's record of oldest Test players and that record will stand till Roz Kyamat .........
