Pakistan U19 (112/2) trounce New Zealand U19 (110) by 8 wickets in match 29 of ICC U19 World Cup 2026

Eng NRR 2.0. Ind 2.75 and Pak 1.47 even after such a big win. Ind will also get a NRR boost today. I don't think NZ will beat Eng. nevermind by a huge margin. As things stand, may be a 10% chance of us qualifying.
The only realistic scenario is Pakistan beating India and New Zealand beating England and then NRR coming into play.

If that happens then maybe Pakistan can get a boost in their NRR and England suffer a hit in their NRR.

Yeah looking like we are out regardless of what happens against India. Unless NZ can pull off a big win against England which is unlikely.

Unlucky that the format could potentially KO us with just one defeat but we have ourselves to blame for that defeat I guess.

Which genius in ICC came up with this rubbish format? You lose one game and you can forget semis.

NZ are not going to beat England and Pakistan are not going to trash India, so most likely Pakistan are out of the race. Amazing.

Worst World Cup format I have seen in my 29 years of watching cricket. :inti

Waiting to see Sameer Minhas in PSL Auction! Will be spicy!

He would be my first pick in the auction if I were in the position of picking a team.

An emerging player in the eleven is mandatory in every match so having a good prospect sorts up the playing eleven for the entire tournament for the franchise.

Good observation. This format does not make any sense whatsoever. An Ind versus England match would have opened the entire group but for some reason they decided that there will only be two matches in the super six stage. Two of the NZ team matches were washed out so they also never had any fair chance at qualification. I can only imagine outrage if one of the big threes would have been hard done by the format.

Yes, I know that England beat Pakistan and deserve to be above us in the table but this format just isn't balanced.

Nah , Pakistan NRR is better so they just need to beat india to qualify for semi :kp

ICC has a mission statement to expand the game but they rarely work on it.

It is weird that they cannot let the U19 players play an extra match in the super six stage. If it was for the senior teams, it could be understood that they play a lot of cricket and also longer duration would mean taking time from the overall calendar but for U19, this is just bizarre (to put it mildly).

It would only add 2 extra days at max to get another match in for all the teams in super six but instead of that we get this insane format. I do sound like complaining & honestly I am but things only change when the big 3 get impacted by weird formats. As long as they make it, it is all good for ICC.

Cricket just feels like a farce nowadays. Not the same sport I used to watch back in the days.

ICC Under-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup: Pakistan Under-19 make a winning start in the Super Six stage.

Pakistan Under-19 defeated New Zealand Under-19 by eight wickets.

New Zealand, batting first, were bowled out for 110 runs.

For Pakistan, Abdul Subhan took four wickets while Ali Raza claimed three.

Pakistan chased down the 111-run target in the 18th over.

Samir Minhas scored an unbeaten half-century.

Three matches in the Super 6 would have been fairer but anyway this format has been good for our old school type team I think. It has forced them to come out of their shells and play ggressively after that initial loss to England. The passion in their bowling and fielding (mostly) can be seen. Now they will again have to play fearlessly and go hard against India from the get go also. Only issue I have apart from the batting (which is improving with each match) is that the bowlers and fielders take a few overs to get into the groove, better teams will not allow this to go unpunished. Need to be switched on from ball 1.

This is a platform to build character and cricket savvy and this baptism by fore will only do them good later on. Not many people remember U-19 WC wins.

Indias,s NRR is best among all ..they are virtually in Semis even if pakistan beat them on Sunday.. pakistan only chance is if Somehow NZ beat England with decent margin and Pakistan beat India. In that case both England and Pakistan will have 6 points and all comes down to NRR..only postive for Pakistan is they will know the exact scenario for qualification before their game against India. Pakistan could have finish today's match in 12-13 overs it would have boost their NRR more.

New Zealand are also suffering the consequences of group stage because their group stage games were washed out and they started their super six campaign with 0 points compared to other teams.

So this format punishes teams in future stages if their earlier stage matches were washed out.

NZ started Super Six with 1 point. :inti

They got 1 point due to the washout against BD.

Our loss to England in the group stages has hurt us badly, we won't be able to make the semi-finals even if we win both games.

India and England both have vastly superior NRR than us.

Weird format, one group stage loss and you won't be able to recover in this tournament.
Hang on NRR didn't pakistan bat deliberately against Zimbabwe to eliminate Scotland interesting

They could have finished off nz game 5 overs earlier who cares even if they lost 7 or 8 wickets in the process. Big tactical miss.

So proud of this team - great bowling comeback after getting some tap in the early overs and great clinical job to finish without “anchoring” or “taking it deep”.
