300 wicket is a proper test career that requires around 70-80 tests over a decade at least. Pak play around 6 tests a year on average and half of them are in Pak on industrial fan baked pitches. For a bowler to reach that mark, our entire cricketing DNA needs to change which includes increasing the priority of test cricket, more test matches outside of WTC, & a proper bowling attack that can get wickets in Australian & South African conditions.
As a side note, we also have not had a fast bowler who has taken 200 wickets after Waqar who made his debut on 15th Nov 1989. Not even Akhtar managed to breach 200 mark so expecting something from a rookie like that is just setting yourself up for disappointment later.
