What's new

Pakistan U19 (112/2) trounce New Zealand U19 (110) by 8 wickets in match 29 of ICC U19 World Cup 2026

Our loss to England in the group stages has hurt us badly, we won't be able to make the semi-finals even if we win both games.

India and England both have vastly superior NRR than us.

Weird format, one group stage loss and you won't be able to recover in this tournament.
Boys just have to win what they can and not get hung up on the format which as you say is completely ridiculous.

Another one.
If we theoretically chase this down quickly could it impact our run rate enough to qualify?

Yes. If we get a favourable rr from here than the india vs pakistan game would become a quater final. Whoever wins qualifies for semi

To make sure that rr doesnt become a factor where india losses and still qualifies we need to win big here

Pak team is very good considering we played only 11 domestic OD U19 games in last 2 years with no 4 day games and no district league as well hence the batting is under polished. But bowling is just next level.

Talent is definitely there if you just pick some kids from clubs and get them together in a 5 months training camp and then send the team to worldcup , practically no preparation at all , I think we did very well even if we didn’t get to play semis.

This has to be one of the worst batting line-ups at junior level I have seen, so the reasoning that you have given is understandable. The previous team had at least three batters that I would say will definitely play for Pakistan in the years to come. Here, besides Sameer Minhas, no one is worthy of a PSL cap even.

Usman khan and ahmed hussain are also decent batters.
Not out of the world but still decent

Keeper is one of the best u will see at U19 level.
Currently better than the ones that are in our wc squad and overrated haris in terms of keeping

Yep worst batting lineup ever send by Pakistan for a U19 worldcup but that’s because these batters have just started playing hard ball cricket and never played above club level so expect them to be incompetent, remember Haroon Arshad who looked clueless even against mid 120ks gun barrel straight bowling and was actually getting bowled by 120k full tosses because of late reaction has really transformed in to a very good talent with just 2 seasons of high level cricket.

So next time we should definitely include 3/4 guys from U16 and play them Quaid or President Trophy so that they can be prepared for the U19 worldcup.

Ahmed Hussain is garbage, just eats up deliveries.

Modern day cricket doesn't have space for such players anymore.
He is a good league with all the tools in his armory plus he is extremely accurate for a wrist spinner , he just need to add more pace and a way to disguise his googlies.

At this level what u have to do is just stay on the wicket and play out whole 50 overs.
220 scores are winning ones

Kiwis are not happy what so ever..i think that is well within the law
Balls wasnt dead. In international cricket umpires do talk to the fielding captain to give some leverage on the appeal, but in u19 its all about knowing the fundamentals of cricket.

Thats why umpire didnt get involved, and the kiwi batter walked back saying some words.

Mate you were out of the crease and we have a nrr issue. If you wanted pakistan to reverse its decision, atleast be humble

I want Pak vs Ind game on a spicy pitch and not on a dead wicket like today’s , Indians and sooryavanshi definitely deserve a humble pie atm.

Pretty sure India won’t cross 200 against our bowling attack Inshallah.

If developed properly he has the potential to be a 300 wicket test bowler.
Fingers crossed

Easy there tiger.

300 wicket is a proper test career that requires around 70-80 tests over a decade at least. Pak play around 6 tests a year on average and half of them are in Pak on industrial fan baked pitches. For a bowler to reach that mark, our entire cricketing DNA needs to change which includes increasing the priority of test cricket, more test matches outside of WTC, & a proper bowling attack that can get wickets in Australian & South African conditions.

As a side note, we also have not had a fast bowler who has taken 200 wickets after Waqar who made his debut on 15th Nov 1989. Not even Akhtar managed to breach 200 mark so expecting something from a rookie like that is just setting yourself up for disappointment later.

Just adding one more thing to that.

Muhamad Abbas is without doubt the best test pacer Pak has. He made his test debut on 21 Apr 2017.

Guess how many tests he has played in a decade.

Twenty seven. 27.

Shame that we play these much less tests.
Test cricket should have been no 1 priority. Hopefully things will change InshaAllah.
We have good test batters coming up also so we can hope for a test revival.

The success of PSL is important for this reason. Once the domestic finances are sorted, then they can prioritize test cricket a bit more hopefully.

Fingers crossed.

P.s. I just checked and found that Abbas hasn't played a test in 1 year and a month. That's just tragic.

Abbas was dropped after the awaytour to sa for no reason literally

Hamza even though hasn’t got the technique or defense to last long but he is definitely brave and got good timing and power on his shots when it comes to facing new ball, he can definitely be worked on in future.

Same applies for Farhan Yousuf who also has power and timing in his shots and decent defense as well but the problem with him is premeditation and he gets in awkward position if the ball doesn’t land where he anticipated.

Absolute quality aka brian lara shots...i think he shud be playing psl for sure as long he doesnt mess up his game

The way Pakistan are batting, we should get to the target well before 20 overs. Minhas is class.

All of this is happening because my uncle Mohsin Naqvi administred new energy and hope in Pakistan cricket through his braveheart leadership.

Usmqn bradman gone some awful batters we have and looking at indian batting only couple of theirs we can have wud be great

It's almost impossible for Pakistan to reach the finals. I don't think this pakistan under 19 team deserve to be in the finals they have a very weak and fragile batting lineup although they have the best pace attack in the tournament. They should come better prepared next time. This looks undercooked batting lineup.

Eng NRR 2.0. Ind 2.75 and Pak 1.47 even after such a big win. Ind will also get a NRR boost today. I don't think NZ will beat Eng. nevermind by a huge margin. As things stand, may be a 10% chance of us qualifying.
