England and Italy meet in Group C with their campaigns unfolding in contrasting yet still developing ways. England climbed to second in the standings after a much-needed victory over Scotland, while Italy come into the contest buoyed by a landmark win against Nepal. With the group tightening, this fixture presents England with an opportunity to consolidate their position, and Italy with another valuable test against an established side.

England’s journey so far has been far from straightforward. They were stretched by Nepal, then fell short against West Indies, before regaining composure in a controlled chase against Scotland. That win highlighted improvement, particularly in handling a modest target after early setbacks, but concerns remain—especially regarding consistency at the top of the order. As qualification scenarios begin to crystallise, England will be seeking a more authoritative and complete display.

Italy, meanwhile, have offered promising signs for a team still adjusting to this stage. After a heavy opening defeat, they responded impressively by defeating Nepal to claim their first World Cup victory, showcasing discipline with the ball and assurance from their leading batters. The task now is to replicate that confidence against stronger opposition. With growing belief and little to lose, Italy will look to challenge England and perhaps draw inspiration from previous tournaments where emerging European sides have unsettled more established teams.

Feels like a football game. LOL.

I wouldn't be surprised if Italy upset England. But, England are definitely favorites.

Could it be the second WC upset?

In reply of England's 202/7, Italy are at 126/4 in 13.3 overs

Italy scored 92 in 8 overs after being 22 for 3 ! What a crap team ENG is !!!

ICC really need to keep on helping Italy . They have already made an impact in comparison to UAE Oman Canada who have been playing for decades

The Italians have been far more impressive than I'd thought they'd be. Even if they lose, this is one of the best ICC tournament debuts by non-Test playing nation.

If they get enough funding, Italy can become a formidable team in T20. They've shown amazing fight this tournament.

I am so glad we didnt face them this time around.

Harry Brook is a proper Forrest Gump. Not sure how they appointed this dim wit guy. He far too immature to be a captain. They should find someone else. He may be a great batsman. But he is not a captaincy material.
