England cricket team’s victory over Italy cricket team confirmed their progression to the Super Eights alongside West Indies cricket team from Group C. That result turns the upcoming clash between Scotland cricket team and Nepal cricket team into the tournament’s first dead rubber. While both sides are already out of contention, a win would at least offer some consolation after campaigns filled with missed chances.

Nepal began strongly, pushing England close in a spirited chase of 184 and falling just four runs short. However, heavy defeats to Italy and West Indies followed, with repeated batting failures leaving their bowlers under constant pressure. Key players have struggled — Kushal Bhurtel has been ineffective with both bat and ball, while Sandeep Lamichhane has not taken a wicket since the opening match. Managing only one wicket across their last two games highlights deeper concerns within their bowling attack.

Scotland’s campaign has been a roller-coaster since their surprise qualification. A loss to West Indies was followed by an impressive win over Italy before they were comfortably beaten by England. Even so, they can take pride in how well they have adapted despite limited preparation. Their spinners have stood out, claiming 11 wickets at an average of 24.63 — the most among teams that have completed all their matches in India.

Nepal have at least enjoyed the benefit of playing all their games at the Wankhede Stadium, gaining familiarity with the surface and strong crowd support. Still, the conditions may favour Scotland. The venue has statistically assisted spin bowlers throughout the tournament, meaning Nepal’s batting line-up will face a tough examination against a confident Scottish spin unit.

Squads:

Nepal
Squad: Kushal Bhurtel, Aasif Sheikh(w), Rohit Paudel(c), Dipendra Singh Airee, Aarif Sheikh, Lokesh Bam, Gulsan Jha, Sompal Kami, Karan KC, Nandan Yadav, Sandeep Lamichhane, Lalit Rajbanshi, Sundeep Jora, Sher Malla, Basir Ahamad

Scotland Squad: George Munsey, Michael Jones, Brandon McMullen, Richie Berrington(c), Tom Bruce, Michael Leask, Matthew Cross(w), Mark Watt, Oliver Davidson, Brad Wheal, Brad Currie, Zainullah Ihsan, Jack Jarvis, Chris Greaves, Finlay McCreath

anyone need tickets for the India vs Netherlands match on February 18 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad? I have two tickets as I'm not interested to watch this match instead going on 22 Feb match between India and south Africa.

I watched these sides play recently in Scotland. I hope Scotland can win as it's my home country but I really want to see Nepal do well too for the progress of the game overall.

Gulshan’s panicking. Should have just gone for a single to give Airee the strike. Instead he wastes three balls.

Even if Nepal win this, Nepal still finish last due to poor NRR.

Scotland finish third despite the loss.

Italy finish 4th (ahead of Nepal).

Really wish to see Nepal as the new Afganistan. Asian Cricket needs some new blockbuster teams after Bharat, Pakistan and Afganistan.

Don’t give up on Bangladesh, as per 12th Feb, they seem to have qualified for future Asia cups and IcC tournaments :srini (for now)

Bangladesh will stay a better team for a while ofcourse, but I know Nepali boys will be a more sought commodity in the IPL 100%.

Most spirited team in this group: Italy.

Came out of nowhere and finished ahead of Nepal. Gave a good fight to England too.

Comfortably. Bangladesh may have lost all matches in this group.

They are completely talentless and a disgrace to both world and Asian cricket :qdkcheeky
On these pitches so far to be really fair, Bangladesh would have had a decent shot to reach super 8’s. They have decent spin and even fast bowlers, batsmen for THESE conditions.

They should be kicking themselves for missing out with some fake rhetoric.

One has to be fair:

Bangladesh’s inclusion is regrettable; any Full Member team sitting out isn’t good for the game. But BD made their choice.

IT’s also very clear that on potential performance alone Bangladesh isn’t missed at all. Scotland has more than made up for it.

If Nepal get the support they deserve, this is going to be another likeable team that no one really has a beef with. Much like NZ and SA.

Scotland is a bit more professional. Lack of practice probably hurt them a bit. But otherwise a much better option.

They could have but it's also not improbable that they would have lost to all teams.

Bangladesh lost to Scotland in 2012 and Hong Kong in 2014 when those teams were less than minnows. Also lost 2-1 to UAE recently.

I can see a scenario where the Moscas and Manentis(Italy) , Airee, Lamicchhane and others all smash them.

Not to forget BD's full strength team lost a T20 series to USA right before world cup in 2024.

Amazing win for Nepal. Their fans deserved a win like this after all the support they have given their team this tournament.

Scotland signed off their T20 World Cup campaign on a disappointing note as Nepal chased down 170 in a thrilling encounter at the Wankhede Stadium, sealing their first win at this stage since 2014.

Dipendra Singh Airee was the standout performer, smashing an unbeaten half-century from just 23 deliveries to guide his side home.

After being asked to bat first, Richie Berrington’s team looked set for a strong total, thanks largely to a stylish 71 from Michael Jones. However, a sudden collapse saw them tumble from 132-1 to 162-7, losing momentum before eventually finishing on 170-7.

On a batting-friendly surface, Nepal completed the chase with four balls remaining.

With West Indies and England advancing from Group C, neither side was in contention for a Super 8 place. Still, Nepal will take confidence from bouncing back after their heartbreaking last-ball defeat to England in their opener.

Scotland, who were drafted in late after Bangladesh withdrew, finish the group stage with one win from four matches.

Nope.

They got smashed by Italy and finished last. Overrated team.

Italy are likely to give a better fight.
lol look at the jealousy.. Nepal is a decent team and will probably beat italy 3 out of 5 times.. Italy is also a decent team and great first effort. Try enjoying good cricket, you know good cricket something never played by BD

they are disgrace to sporting community. they are probably disgrace to a gully cricket team which will atleast play honestly rather than finding ways to be a victim all the time.

oh yeah, scotland was much better to watch. no drama and actual vicitmless cricket. if BD had played we would have been tortured to death as how BCCI held them back or otherwise they would have won the world cup, just last 10 times
