Ideas for a fun website

Just looking to spend my free time by coding up something in PHP and JavaScript but I'm lacking the ideas.

Why not something worthwhile? Could you not set up a 'fundmymosque' website, giving individuals and groups to pitch for funding from Muslims worldwide for projects involving new mosques in new locations or improvements to existing mosques.

Each project would get a page or two to pitch for funding. At the moment there are entities with website that ask for donations and then distribute to what mosque project they feel is deserving. With this 'new' website we'd be cutting out the middleman, allowing direct funding of particular mosque projects.

Imagine that when one is feeling in need of quenching their charitable dues, they log onto website and choose to donate for a mosque anywhere in the world. One hundred pounds for example would go further in some parts of the world than others.

I know of a friend who was instrumental in setting up a mosque in Bolivia (Not via internet)

Would this be too complicated for you to code? I am computer illiterate so wouldn't know how easy or hard it would be.

If you could do this I know of other uses, utilising the same concept but providing solutions to problems more concerned with the here and now rather than the hereafter.

He probably doesn't have enough time for it. Your project requires full time commitment and lots of investment.

Well someone with the time and investment should do it. How much investment do you think, maybe a few thousand, surely not more. Start simple.

Some ideas look good in paper. But horrible when it comes to implementation.

You could get sue over it if you fail to do a proper background check and allow some shady mosque to set up a fund which is getting used in illegal means.

To get around it, you'll have to spend thousands of dollars on lawyers not to mention the hours of troublesome time.

That's why it can't be a part time project.

If one wants to do it, one has to setup a proper environment from technical staff to legal staff. And that doesn't come cheap.

Tell this to Matt Mullenweg and Mark Zuckerberg.

Ask any decent php developer and he will tell you horrible the code base of wordpress is. Perhaps, Abdul himself could validate this.

And facebook moved away from php long ago for that very reason.
