If I was selector I’d call him up straight away. He’s been prolific in domestics and I doubt he will improve. If he’s in the squad he can improve on the job.
 
He definitely showed good signs today. It's really important he works on his stance. That crouch was hampering him whenever he played the pull shot. He crouches low with a somewhat narrow stance(feet close to each other) and when he attempts the pull shot he is at once trying stand straighter and rotate his torso. The unnecessary upward motion just makes him late onto the shot and he ends up top edging it. Very similar to Sohaib Maqsood. Take a leaf out of Ronchi's book; have a stable base, no unnecessary upward motion just the rotation of the body to pull.

comes to batsmen. The best bowlers in the PSL are Pakistani, by and large, whereas the best
batsmen are overseas signings. These same bowlers play in Pakistani domestic LOIs, and we
can judge a batsman also by how well he does in domestic tourneys.

Well by domestic tourney, Fakhar and Farhan should have been our openers since Pakistan Cup 2017.
 
I understand why people would say its to early to call him up, but I would ask them to consider this

1. given how substandard domestic cricket is players like Farhan who are blessed with natural ability can score runs without every improving. We Fahkar and Sharjeel both improve a lot after having a taste of intl cricket.

2. Quite simply who else is there that is a realistic selection?

I mean we are opening with Imam, Shehzad, Faheem and Amin atm.

Plus, last thing Pakistan need is for Farhan to turn into a Khurram or Khalid Latif-esque hack.
 
He needs to learn to not create pressure around him. He was clearly nervous today so I don’t think he’s ready for International cricket right now. With that being said, I think MA has an eye on him for the WC. The problem with him right now is that he can not rotate strike efficiently which makes him slog blindly and that he really doesn’t have a plethora of shots in his selection. What he does have however, is power and timing. That alone could suffice for a positive RR during the PP on the flat England pitches. He’s a hack, let’s face it, but that’s not a bad thing for Pakistan to have right now. I wish him well for Pakistan’s sake.

FZ has been wonderful for LQ this season. Even when throwing away his wicket, he made sure they were given a platform to accelerate beforehand.
 
That straight six was a thing of beauty, but the only way he can add value to the team is by rotating the strike efficiently. So far, things do not look promising on that front.

Pakistani batsmen do not usually score less boundaries than their counterparts, but it is the dot ball percentage that proves to be their bane, and it appears that he suffers from the same bug.

Which is why it is good to pick him early. I think the way forward is to have a 'sink or swim' policy with these young batsmen, because clearly, they are not going to learn much in F/C cricket.

Strike rotation isn't as important for openers. Because fielders are in and boundaries are easier to hit.

Would take him any day instead of the inevitable Kamran Akmal
 
Getting cramped for room is a problem with both Farhan and Fakhar because of their stationary technique although Farhan can get a stride forward to fuller pitched deliveries.

This is where coaching has hampered us while India has thrived. Even their worst batsmen will have some semblance of back and forward movement. We really need educated coaches because the natural ability is there, arguably more so.
 
He’s got potential. I would keep him in the squad as backup opener so he develops further.

we have no other option really bar maybe asif ali but thats strictly t20s only

Farhan is a no brainer given our lack of options
 
Doesn't impress me with his fluidity and strike rotation . Lack of ability to hit in the gaps and not a natural stroke maker. We already have these in our team.
 
That crouching Tiger technique needs to go. He needs to sort out his stance. It's inhibiting his ability to deal with proper bounce.

2 Good innings in finals shows he has some mental fortitude.

Remember he has never played in front of such a large crowd and under so much pressure. Taking those into account he did really well.

You have to the balance of the team right, its harsh on Haris but we have enough players like him right now.

If Malik goes, that will be Haris's spot
 
Nauman Anwar has a better stance but slightly loose compared to Farhan.

Farhan needs to make a better balance for crisp pull shot and pick up.
 
Looked extremely limited to me. Watching him bat reminded of Shehzad, in fact shehzad is a much more natural stroke maker than him. Unfortunately it has mostly been hype about this guy. Potential is there, but needs a lot of work before we can even think about having him in the international side
 
bring in Sahibzada farhan. he's the best opener we have. what will we loose. also hussain talat and asif ali as they are clean hitters

Haris is the most assured and reliable player of fast bowling we have. And it's not like he plays slowly against them, usually operates at 80+ SR when facing fast bowlers especially in the PP overs.

Would be silly not to make use of him.

regardless of what we think Babar, Sarfraz Malik will be our middle order for the next game

I really like haris, i was one of the first that wanted him on the side in this forum back in the 2012/2013 season, however life is unfair and a combination of injuries and Babar's rise has meant he has bide his time.

He will get his chance, but i think right now the balance of the side requires other players

Nah shezhad is gone, not only was his performance shocking but we saw how little his team mates think of him, had runins with Amir, Sarfraz, Shadab and Sarfraz, remember he almost went unbought this PSL as well.


I just hope Farhan is the other opener. Wouldnt mind Amin either but I want a long-term solution to be considered.

Look I want Farhan in the squad under good supervision but he has very glaring weaknesses due to his stance and trigger movements, good teams are gonna pin him down and roll over him. He may be ready at some point but for now Haris is the best bet in ODIs for the opening slot.

Didn't we have the same reservations about Fakhar? Haris and Babar cannot play in the same line-up. There is a possibility scoreboard will get stuck if these two end up batting together under pressure.

I agree he isnt up to standard now but we have to look at the games we have coming up : WI followed by Zimbwae, its a perfect run of games to introduce a kid.

Fakhar looked a much more assured player with greater range of strokes before international debut.

I am not against Farhan, I feel he can go the distance if he sorts out his technical issues. He has played two good innings in finals which shows mental strength. But right now I feel he won't be able to manage. Haris is the safer option, he has issues against finger spinners who can bog him down but If he sorts that out he'll become a much more valuable player.

Unfortunately no other options around. Sharjeel's laalach has caused some serious damage to Pakistan cricket in the long run. We literally cannot find a half-decent opening partner for Fakhar.
 
Need Sharjeel back as an opener. Then Pakistan can potentially have a lethal team if Hafeez and Malik are dropped.
 
Not impressed with Sahibzada Farhan

I struggle to understand the hype around this lad as frankly he looks like an inferior version of Shehzad. Their is no footwork at all from him and no concept of strike rotation either. He is playing out so many dot balls even to our domestic bowlers, then imagine what will become of him in the international level.
 
100% agree. Lets hope he learns strike rotation quickly. Suprised how he is playing considering he looked better at PSL with straight sixes
 
His strike rotation is poor and he has to work on it but he is still way better than Shehzad. He can hit big shots whenever he wants along with playing conventional strokes.
 
He started off as a big hitter scoring 50s and 100s at a brisk pace. That got people interested. And then he slowed down after playing more games in domestic.

Truth be told, his technique is below average. Till the time he was scoring at over 100 SR, people were rightly interested because technique is over rated sometimes but now that he is another tuk tuk, he has nothing to offer with his poor technique.
 
Closing in on 150. His strike rate has vastly improved after his 100. I hope he was playing within himself rather than tuk tuking

He always plays like this. He needs to improve his strike rotation and feet moment and needs to stop crouching then he will definitely be a solid option for us.
 
Clearly, Sahibzada is too good for domestics. He has pretty much dominated every one day tournament he has played in.

I say debut him in Zimbabwe ODI series. No point letting him rot in domestic cricket.

Agree. And he should also be in the squad for the Scotland series. He wasn't amazing in PSL but these are chances to try him out against lower quality opposition.

I remember Sahibzada from Hong Kong sixes. He represented Pakistan there.

Seems like a good hitter. Pakistan can maybe try him in T20.
 
Sahibzada Farhan blitzed 64 (31) today in the National T20. He continues his rampage. Honestly, with quite a few big hitters in domestic, Babar and Rizwan's days opening for T20I's should be revised.

He is off to a blistering start this PSL, taking Ubaid Shah to the cleaners. I'm really rooting for him in this PSL, he deserves a lot more recognition for his domestic accomplishments.
 
Dominating 50 for Sahibzada, his first PSL 50. He looks in great form. He likes the off-side but has used his feet well against the spinners.
