Trump has banned visitors & refugees from 7 muslim-majority countries: Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen.

This ban even extends to green card holders who are granted authorization to live and work in the United States.

Also it extends to travelers with dual Canadian and one of these countries citizenship who are boarding planes that are headed to the United States.

So if Trump include Pakistan in this list too, how it will affect you?

If you listen to the news, many commentators are saying that Trump's ban on Iraqis, Iranians etc. also includes those with the likes of British-Iraqi dual nationality. ie Their Iraqi side of the dual nationality means that they too fall under the bans regardless of their British nationality.

So if Trumps bans Pakistani nationals, that will also include all British citizens with dual British-Pakistani nationality.

It has been confirmed that Pakistanis & Afghans will be extra vetted

It is reported in canadian newspaper that dual citizen of canada and 7 banned are being refused to enter usa.

So if pakistan is included in the ban list, then pakistani canadian would not be able to travel to usa.

I feel sorry for the green card holders who are not being to get past security

Maybe it's because Pakistani Americans have integrated better than Somalian Americans

And that raises an interesting question. What about American - Pakistani dual nationals? What's to stop Trump interpreting the rules to state that a ban on Pakistanis also includes Pakistani-US dual nationals since they too are Pakistanis?

When I was living/working in the USA (as a UK citizen on a L1 visa), I regularly came back to the UK or mainland Europe, sometimes just for a day, (arrive morning, have meeting, leave evening) to attend meetings and conferences. Due to the children's schooling, plus travelling costs, I did not always bring my family with me when coming back to the UK (my employer paid for all my travelling/hotel costs). I can't imagine how I would have reacted had I been stopped from going back to the USA on one of these occasions when I came to the UK or Europe on my own without my wife and kids.

Will make no difference to me, as I have no plans to visit America while Trump is in power.

Couldn't care less as I don't plan on ever visiting America.

Totally agree. Although have some close relatives there I have never been envious of the USA and can't stand those who go gaga about them. I feel for those Pakistanis living in the USA more then anything else. Trump will end up isolating his own country more then anything else.

Does holding only a NICOP Card and a foreign passport also be considered as dual nationality?

I'm not sure how exactly it would directly affect me, I do have dual nationality despite being born and raised outside Pakistan. I am concerned for my grandparents who live Pak but have greencards, also concerned for relatives who are here on visas. These are not good times and as I write this there's a massive protest going on at the airport in my city (one of the biggest in America), one thing is certain - the people won't let Trump get his way without any resistance.

Dual nationality holders with 1 of it from Pakistan and 1 from any other country except US, will be barred from entering US whether they have education/work visa or have green card or are traveling and their flight use US airspace.

I was actually planning a trip there this summer but decided against it some time before Trump even looked like coming to power. There's been problems for Muslims going there for some time now due to the terror threat. I'm sure once you got past all the security checks it would be a great experience, but I just can't be bothered with it all. There's too many other options for a vacation with less hassle and with the added bonus of costing a lot less.

Some Canadian friends of mine couldn't fly to the USA due to their place of birth being Iran.
They've lived most of their lives in Canada and regards themselves as Canadians.

India more or less applies the same rules for anyone born in Pakistan.

So the yes IMHO it's just a matter of time until this is extended to anyone born in Pakistan.

Canadians Iranian dual nationalities are banned from entering America.
Air Canada has even allowed those that have bought tickets to retain the tickets for the entire 2017 and rebook their seats if and when this ban has been lifted

A day after US President Donald Trump ordered no-visa policy for seven Muslim states, a White House official hinted that the ban could be extended to other countries, including Pakistan.

“You can point to other countries that have similar problems like Pakistan and others – perhaps we need to take it further,” White House chief of staff Reince Priebus told CBS News.

Pakistan not among countries to face visa ban: Trump

“But for now, immediate steps, pulling the Band-Aid off, is to do further vetting for people traveling in and out of those countries.”

In the most sweeping use of his presidential powers since taking office a week ago, Trump signed an executive order on Friday to pause the entry of travellers from Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen for at least 90 days.

The travel curbs began immediately, causing confusion for would-be travelers with passports from the seven countries.

Defending the US president widely denounced order, Priebus said: “This is not a Muslim ban. Face the nation.”

He said Trump has solely identified countries where terrorism is taking place and could lead to danger in the US.

I pray Trump stops giving visas to Pakistanis: Imran

“All this is identifying the seven countries – and the reason we chose those seven countries is those were the seven countries that both the Congress and the Obama administration identified as being the seven countries that were most identifiable with dangerous terrorism taking place in their country.”

The move, implemented immediately by authorities, precipitated large protests across major airports nationwide. The ensuing mobilisation against the order could herald a protracted battle shaping up between migrant advocates and the Trump administration.

While a federal judge has blocked part of the temporary immigration ban, the issue may end up before Supreme Court, which has not ruled on a similar issue since the 1882 Chinese Exclusion Act.

I wouldn't be surprised to find out that India has requested Trump to also include Pakistan in this list. In fact India probably has complained that why Trump did not include Pakistan when he announced the list first time.

The Canadian Justice system is built on equality for all irrespective of race, religion and social background. Our courts will squash such an executive order if we get a guy like Trump as our PM (not going to happen any time soon). Actually Harper was pretty Trump-ish by the end of his tenure and his party got ripped apart in the polls.

That being said, I often have to travel to the US for work and leisure since I live close to the border (Toronto is just an hour away from the US-Canada border) and this may put a halt on my trips down south for a bit.

There is no ban or anything on Pakistan. Why are Pakistanis so worried.I mean agreed what Trump is doing is stupid(cant use a stronger word because of rules)but Pakistanis are not on the list.

I can understand the decrease in number of refugees to be allowed in,but rest doesnt make sense.

How are you going to explain to the British or Canadian or Australian govt that their citizen cannot travel to US despite bilateral agreements, because he holds a Pakistani Passport as well?

Also if someone is already in USA on a Visa or Green Card what will he do?Cancel Green Cards? and not renew visas of those who are already there?

This just doesnt make any sense.

Yesterday a few passengers were taken off an Air Canada flight to the US. The de-planed passengers had Canadian passports but their places of birth were some of these banned countries.

Adolf Trump isn't even allowing Canadians to enter into his fatherland.

You don't stay silent when other groups are attacked, that's selfish. Even if for now Pakistanis aren't banned, they should speak out in defense of the groups that got banned. Being altruistic is everybody's duty.

My friend is an immigration attorney in NYC and this morning she shared a FB status saying dual citizenship holders are being stopped from traveling to the US. Her client is a Yemeni American with dual citizenship and he was with his wife who was a legal permanent resident. Anyways, she advised all people from the 7 countries to come through Boston Logan since the Federal Judge has stated that "individuals on these flights will not be detained or returned based solely on the basis of an Executive Order".

President Joe Biden has reversed course hours after signing an order to keep the number of refugees admitted annually to the US at Trump-era levels.

Mr Biden drew ire on Friday as he held the cap at the historically low figure of 15,000, two months after he pledged to increase it to 65,500.

The White House later said Mr Biden would raise the refugee cap next month.

Reports say Mr Biden is concerned about letting in more people amid a record influx at the US-Mexico border.

UN figures indicate there are more than 80 million refugees worldwide, with 85% of them hosted by developing countries.

What did Biden's order do?

The White House said Friday's order would speed up refugee admissions to the US - since October around 2,000 people have been admitted under the programme.

The order also changes the allocation of who is allowed in, with more slots being provided to arrivals from Africa, the Middle East and Central America, and an end to restrictions on resettlements from Somalia, Syria and Yemen.

But Mr Biden kept the maximum number of refugees allowed in annually at 15,000, a ceiling set by his predecessor as president, Donald Trump.

Mr Biden stated the Trump-era cap "remains justified by humanitarian concerns and is otherwise in the national interest".

Following outcry, White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki said the Democratic president's directive had been the "subject of some confusion".

She blamed Mr Biden's failure to deliver on the 62,500 figure that he announced to Congress two months ago on "the decimated refugee admissions programme we inherited".

Ms Psaki said Mr Biden's order on Friday was meant to allow refugee flights to the US to begin within days.

The press secretary added: "With that done, we expect the president to set a final, increased refugee cap for the remainder of this fiscal year by May 15."

She did not specify a number, though she said "his initial goal of 65,000 seems unlikely".

In a speech to the state department in February, Mr Biden vowed to raise the figure to 125,000 within the next budget year.

Nearly 85,000 refugees were resettled in the US during the final year of Barack Obama's presidency.

What's the reaction?

Jenny Yang, senior vice-president at World Relief, a humanitarian organisation, told CNN that White House claims the US refugee resettlement programme needed to be rebuilt after the Trump years was "a completely false narrative".

"It's not grounded in any sort of reality," she said. "It's not that they don't have the resources. It's a purely political calculation at this point."

A US official earlier told Reuters news agency the administration had been concerned about looking "too open" with rising numbers of migrants arriving at the Mexican borders.

In March, at least 172,000 migrants were stopped at the US-Mexico border - the most in 20 years - and many were unaccompanied children.

Mr Trump's speechwriter and immigration adviser Stephen Miller tweeted that the directive "reflects Team Biden's awareness that the border flood will cause record midterm losses", referring to the congressional elections that happen midway through a president's term, which will next be held in November 2022.

The Biden order left some Democrats aghast.

Left-wing New York congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez tweeted: "Upholding the xenophobic and racist policies of the Trump admin, incl the historically low + plummeted refugee cap, is flat out wrong. Keep your promise."

Senate Foreign Relations Chair Bob Menendez called the figure "appallingly low". Dozens of other party members wrote to Mr Biden ahead of the decision urging him to raise the cap.
