Morne Morkel presser, ahead of the Super 4 game against Sri Lanka:

Effect of Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf injuries:

"Yeah, obviously it was a big blow with them picking up those little niggles but in the same sort of sentence, what a fantastic opportunity for the guys who are coming in."

"After going against India it's a must win game for us come tomorrow and I'm quite excited to see the new guys stepping in to see their character and to see how the guys respond, so a fantastic opportunity with those missing out."

How happy is Morne with Shaheen

"Oh, very happy - Shaheen is World Class - I love as a mentor connecting with Shaheen about bowling, I think the way he keeps things simple, how he goes about his work, never do I have to ask him to bowl overs, he's always there very focused very organized; the intensity that he trains with is always there at a hundred percent and you know as a coach or as a mentor that is what you expect; He's one of the leaders of the attack and I think he's setting a fantastic example on and off the field for the younger fast-bowlers and for the fast-balling group so they know what it takes to be professional so with him in the team, I'm very happy"

Message from Morne to Pakistan boys after they gave away so many runs in the game against India.

"After the Indian match, obviously, we were bitterly disappointed and for me firstly, it was very important for the bowlers after the match to do a bit of self-reflection."

"In terms of training I thought we'd trained and planned really well, but yes our execution maybe on the day let us down in certain areas but it is also the first time you know with me since I've joined the team, but we had a bit of a bad night with the ball."

"There's were a couple of ways, a couple of things we can sort of discuss around that but for me it was most important importantly individually go and reflect and ask yourself the hard questions where did you go wrong and then as a team and in the team meeting the next day, we discussed those areas we talked about conditions."

"Credit must go to the to the Indian batters as I thought they played really well; Early on they put us under pressure and those are fantastic learnings for us; The more sort of tough situations I believe we can face before the World Cup and in the World Cup, that's brilliant this fantastic learning experience for us and as a bowling unit - we will grow from this and comeback stronger"

About SSA's workload

"Like you said he's world-class but luckily we've got a fantastic medical team and myself who monitor the bowling loads and we're daily checking in with the guys on mental well-being as I don't think it's always just the physical stuff"

"I think it's important to always look at a bowler from a mental point of view; I experienced it for 12 years as there's always a lot of expectation and you as a fast bowler and with him leading the attack that's also a thing that we need to need to talk about; So I'm big for that is to check in with the bowlers make sure that physically and mentally they're in good space to go because he they are sort of our golden eggs and we want to protect and make sure everybody is fit and healthy and give him the best opportunity to go out and perform"

"But unfortunately, we can't control injuries as injuries are part and parcel of the game."

Morne on Zaman Khan

"I'm super-excited to see Zaman for the first time this afternoon I've obviously followed a little bit on PSL and what I could see on TV while I was in Australia but we're about to have our first nets this afternoon or night."

"I think it's important for him to find his feet as he's coming straight off the plane into a potentially big game so, I'm excited just to work with him, connect with him and build that relationship, help him develop because he's a match winner."

Morne on Pakistan spinners

"Conditions are spin friendly and I think our spinners are working really hard at the moment they'll be the first to put up their hands and say yes, we haven't bowled well as we would have liked but they match winners they are all experienced players and they know how to make comebacks and big players make big plays in important games and you know we've got two important games coming up in a semi-final and potentially a final and again, I would like to see their character"

"We're definitely heading in the right direction in terms of talking game plans and stuff like that it's just putting the package together and that's going to come over time so let's just be patient with them as they are world class and I'm no doubt they'll perform."

Morne on bowling to Rizwan in the nets

"Rizwan asked me to bowl a couple of balls with a tape tennis ball to him for that extra bit of swing and that's a way that I can serve the team; I think for me it's always important to bring your knowledge to the fast-bowlers but also what can I do to make this team go a little bit better, how can I help them to prepare slightly better and if that means that you know I have to bowl a little bit in the nets it's good fun for me, it's good fitness and then there's a couple of Legend Leagues also around the corner so I can maybe get a gig there!"

Love the energy and enthusiasm from Morkel.

Well it will boost confidence of zaman khan for sure as a bowler, that ur bowling coach recognizing you as a match winner

Morne morkel is someone who I rate highly and have respect for. He sees the same thing I see in zaman Khan.

I'm telling you broskie, just like I have been telling you about saud, Abdullah and saim ayub.

Play zaman Khan, this lad will come good.

Some lovely comments from Morkel on Pak pacers.

Watching Afridi since that game vs India - I feel Morkel has his work cut out.

Everyone knows Saud, Abdullah and Ayub are very good prospects and I've been advocating for them in various threads for a few years now. However, Zaman Khan is ordinary and one-dimensional. Not good enough. The only proper bowlers among the pool outside of main three that have talent are Ihsanullah and Arshad Iqbal. And maybe Abbas Afridi as a bowling all rounder. Arshad for the new ball and Ihsanullah in the middle overs. Zaman might have a place in T20s for death bowling but that's it.

That's fair.

If Pak had to appoint a part time bowling coach, Steyn would have been a much better option than Morne.
Otherwise there were better full time options available IMO.

Zaman Khan is not bad and he has bowled really well last night but he should play more List A matches before he plays ODI cricket. He has only played 8 List A matches till date.
