What's new

"I'm looking forward to seeing Babar Azam the most this summer" : Ricky Ponting

Babar is 8th highest run scorer in test cricket since start of 2018.

He would have scored a hundred at lords as well if he had not injured his arm

I challenge that Babar wouldn't have made this 100, in fact would have failed to score a fifty had Pattinson played who is a much superior bowler to Starc.

Ask Junaids.

Also don't forget Oz are without their top ball maintainer AKA Bancroft.

Babar has Indians riled up. That's how you know he's elite.

:))

Your poor reading of the game exposed yet again.

Like you got exposed supporting Fakhar Zaman? Unlike you I am not a hater nor have any agenda, already praised him in other threads where even Pakistanis blaming him for a supposedly inconsequential century.

so he did scored hundred in just second inning :salute

PP is exploding already, Root has been violently thrown out of the fab 4, you realize that I was right all along, right?

You are a good poster unlike top auntie who I quoted above, so let me take the pain to try and make you understand that I never doubted his potential or ability hell unlike many Indian poster I actually agree that he is a top 5 loi bat, I just don't buy the nonsense that he is already a part of the fab 4 or better than Root, he has a long way to go to become an elite test bat, anyone who thinks otherwise is delusional and I will continue to counter their nonsense.

This innings is a start for him to go on and do greater things.

He is no where near fab 4 yet, however consistent runs against such oppositions will get him there.

Actually, he did start looking a proper test player (runs + composure) against NZ last year, however, poor performance against SA (no hundreds despite 3 40+ scores, and only playing attacking cricket) let him down.

He needs to have another solid innings in the next test, otherwise it would be a false dawn again.

Liked the tempo he batted with need to see more of this also switched off post 100 needs to stop this in order to make daddy 100's

Very pleased to see Babar get a century. There is something about the way he times the ball and the sound it makes off his bat, which marks him out from others. Delightful to watch.

Just watching him bat tells you that he is going to become a fabulous test player.
But no,as of now he isnt anywhere near fab 4.
Kohli had to prove himself 2 times in overseas tours for peoplr to accept that he's a quality test player,so critics wont go easy on babar too.
Even though he hit a century today his avg in aus is still not good enough and he hasnt proved himself on seaming and bouncy pitches, this poitch was flat.

I stand by my support for Fakhar but he's no longer good enough to be opening the batting. In ODIs, I'd like to see him bat at 6 and 5/6 in T20Is. The problem with him is he can't play the new ball.

Plays his whole career as opener and you suddenly.thonk he's gonna do well in the middle order?

Why do you support him so much? He was once good and I agree it's not good to call him a "hack" but facts are that his performances are poor and new openers should be tried for LOI. I am tired of him putting pressure on the team by scoring 0s.

It's either "Why do you support him so much?" or "Why do you hate him so much?". Let me ask you why are you so dramatic?

Fakhar would benefit if he's shielded from the new ball. The reason why he struggles against the new ball is because it offers more lateral movement for the pacers and there is extra bounce with a fresh and harder cricket ball.

With a softer ball which isn't swinging and seaming, he has the ability to play brisk knocks as we witnessed during the CT and also in the T20 tri-series final against Australia, where he single handedly won Pakistan that game.

With his unique traits in fitness, mental toughness and along with his ability to score quick runs, I believe he is a match winner and remains to be a key asset in the side.

Now I hope you can sleep at night with this response.

Fakhar needs to open because he needs time to get set,.and usually his skill is playing aggressive through the opening powerplay to get him in. He likes playing big.sjots. early on in the game.durkng powerplay that is viable. However in middle overs he won't have time to get and the defensive fields, he struggle to get through the fielder's without holding out. And his technique would be awful to face the spinners during the middle.

Fakhar will do better against the older ball and I'd like to see him have a go - but if he fails, he should be dropped.
