"People need to be patient and I had to be patient, too, as these things take time. I'm not a magician who could have just started to take five wickets in every innings as soon as I came back and hopefully people can now see that I am returning to my best once again. I feel that my rhythm is back and I feel that it's important for me to play as much four-day and Test cricket as possible in order to find my best form. The more cricket I play, the more confident I feel and the more improvements will be visible. Demands will always be high and expectations high, but patience is also important and it takes time to get back to your best."

Yes but in 14 tests since return he averages mid 30's.If we needed these sort of figures then we already had Rahat Ali for it.

Still average 32 in Test Cricket, it's not like he has set the World on fire in the Longest Format.

I know Amir haters will get triggered: but his 30+ average in tests should be taken with a pinch of salt. You know a small matter of around 10 dropped catches etc.

Yeah Wasim,Waqar never had catches dropped during their time we had Jonty's and Symonds fielding for Pakistan

Amir, you are a magician and you have shown it in the last Asia Cup T20 final and CT final. You just need to produce these spells more often than once a year. If you can be same as before the ban then you are a magician and best in the world. You are getting there.

If you count missed chances as wickets for everyone, then everyone will have averages below 25.

I agree with this statement. People expected him to take 5frs galore. He was always going to need time to adapt to international cricket again. He's slowly getting back to his best. He's found that wicket taking length. Hopefully he can bowl a similar length that he did in the CT.

I feel like people are over-hyping how good pre-ban Amir was. Tbh his best moment was 5-fer in Australia. In England, there were green pitches and he probably could still do what he did back then. I think current Amir is just as good as he was pre-ban, if not better.

He isn't. He's a yard slower, physique not as robust and action not as complete. Despite that, he's still a great bowler because of his skillset and control.

Also, I believe Amir is a smarter player now than he was 7 (omg time flies) years ago.

Pre Amir had an inswinger. He's still trying to get that back.

You must feel for this guy man! He was 5 year out of the circuit and even I thought he will get only 4/5fers after his comeback, but when I came to know that he didn't touch the ball during his ban, I then thought he's also a normal human being and it will take some time to regain his old form. But we also know that 20+ catches are dropped:(

Expectations were way too high. It was always going to take him some time to settle back into international cricket.

I think however his Test record needs improvement and that will happen in the coming years.
