Iyer at no.6 is a waste. He should bat in top 4 or else play him in ODIs only.

Well, Is the game as good as gone? Will India be able to run against the tide this time?

SKY and Chahar in for Chahal and Kishan. SKY and Iyer do the same thing , both will be batting below 3. Not sure what is the need for both. Would have been better to stick with Kishaan.

Chahal deserved to be dropped. Kuldeep should have been in the squad. Let’s see how Chahar gets on.

This tour india already lost 6 Toss out of 8
Last Australia tour india lost 6 Toss out of 10

Note- Toss Play very important factor in match outcome

I think india need to start selecting a specialist coin toss-er in the team ;)

Adil Rashid gave away a six of first ball to Rohit.

Good segment on Sky about the science of powerhitting. It's become a specialised skill in itself, and the likes of Buttler are masters of it with his fast hands and wrists. Pakistan are far behind in this aspect.

Winning the toss and fielding first has proven to be a big advantage in this series, let's see if the cycle breaks today.

yes, Buttler epitomises this. Single mindedness to just be aggressive and score as many as fast as possible. Never scored a century till date.

12 wins in last 16 games in india by team chasing.

Including today - last 17 tosses (last 2 years) only once has captain winning toss decided to bat 1st in india.

To see who is better between SKY and Iyer.

Good to see Chahal being dropped.

175+ could be a decent total to defend. For Eng key would be to get Rohit and Kohli early and for India to not lose much wickets in the powerplay.

This pitch look's patta .200 minimum what india require if they have any chance to defend

Rahul Chahar can provide bit of novelty factor which most decent leggies provide at the start of their careers. Not sure what happened to Mayank Markhande who just played one T20I for India and never got a chance again.

200+ would be ideal but, if I am not wrong there is not much dew around and Morgan possibly suggested the same. So even 175+ with decent bowling day should be defendable. Obviously the more the team batting first gets the better it is for them.

He is very well known to most teams due to IPL. But he is a good bowler

Man Wood is fast. I reckon he can break 100mph on a good day on Fast pitch.. Most probably in SA or Australia.

Yes in todays cricket every team knows most of the new players as well because of so much media sources available and players playing in different leagues. However, I still have observed that when someone starts to play international cricket then many more eyes from the opposition team's management and analysts are watching along with sometimes more opportunities to watch longer spells in formats like 50 overs cricket or test cricket which in turn is reflected in their plans against them.

As an example if we look at the stats of Kuldeep, Chahal, Shadab (T20s) in white ball cricket earlier in their career those were extraordinary but you will see the returns diminish over the years with when international teams and batsmen after playing them in international circuit as well as leagues reguarly are possibly more aware of their variations. Same thing happens with some one dimensional batsmen as well who might not have been as closely monitored in T20 leagues but as they come to international cricket they are much more thoroughly analyzed.

It might not be a norm but, just my observation in recent times and if we look at the stats of the leggies who came into the international circuit in last 3-4 years, their returns have gone down. They dont suddenly become bad bowlers but the impact with that initial novelty factor is usually much higher.

SKY is probably the best ever player from MI (probably best ever IPL player after Suresh Raina?)

Bye bye Shreyas Iyer

Hope the team management has the sense to not sacrifice Surya or Ishan for Iyer.

Yadav making full use of the opportunity given to him. Playing like a boss.

Both SKY and Kishan have impressed on their debut.

If I am not wrong Surya Yadav was rated highly even in his younger days in Mumbai's cricket circuit however, he went down the pecking order as his domestic stats werent as un earthly as some of the other players in Indian domestic circuit.

Rahul needs to find his form in IPL. His confidence is way too low right now. Kishan should have opened with Rohit.

Yes. Also had some attitude issues and fights with coaches.
In Test Cricket.. it is pretty simple to play for India in last 20 years atleast.. get multiple 1000 run seasons averaging 50+.. Else no chance.

Kishan is injured. If they drop Rahul now, chances is he won't be back for a long time. They'll stick with him for a while.

14 off 17 balls is not at all on for an opener in T20 cricket an that too after series of ducks and low scores. Not really impressed with the approach. Struggling to rotate strike and not confident enough to play strokes in his stronger areas with decent timing to utilize the powerplay.

That kohli wicket will slow indias progress here.

India are lucky they have match winners at lower end as well. If this was Pakistan match would be done already.
