Watching this match on TV whilst studying and man is it BORING. SL need to revamp their cricket asap.
 
Jadhav is wasting someone's space in the squad.

Lets see what MSD has got. He has been hiding behind the brilliance of Dhawan and Kohli of late.
 
What a bowling by Dananjaya. He looks Ajanta Mendis part 2 but he took wickets on leg spin. Srilankan bowling looks competative now.
 
Ideal time for MSD to play his ultra defensive style and take the match to the final delivery.

Its not that the balls were unplayable. Stupid shots and batsmen not respecting the bowler enough.

When get got cleaned up, the batsmen had the look of, "This bowler is too mediocre to bowl a googly".

Dummies getting exposed when Dhawan and Kohli fails.

None were unplayable barring the KL Rahul one.

Pathetic shots to a bowler who is bowling non-turning googlies. All the Googlies are straightening and batsmen are missing it completely.

Hope this defeat will bring them down to earth and play sensible cricket next time. Also not sure what it would take to drop Jadhav from the team. Hope M Pandey gets picked up

Top order was covering the deficiencies of the lower order. Once you get past Dhawan/Rohit/Kohli, the rest are pretty suspectful against any kind of bowling.

You cannot have Jadhav in the team. Plain and simple. He has to go.

Manish Pandey shoudl play ahead of Jadhav.

Dhananjaya is another mystery spinner that Indians are making look unplayable.
 
Dhananjaya is bowling both offspin and legspin. You can easily pick it from his action.
 
Finally some fightback by SL.
And a chance for Dhoni to prove something to Selectors, fans, Kohli, himself etc etc etc
 
If MSD can win it for India from here he will cement his place in the team for the 2019 WC.

One jamODI game performance against SL cannot seal anyone a spot for Wcup which is 2 years in future.
But yes Dhoni's finishing has been questioned for past few months.
So he has a chance now to hit back at his critics.

Wow BK is batting really well here, just needs to stay at the crease and India are through to a win.
 
Great character by India, but mostly BK playing an Amir-esque innings vsing the same opponents - SL!
 
Not taking anything away from bk and Dhoni.

I watched the last 7 overs. So far all I have seen is balls at the legs, half trackers by spinners.

There is a reason why Zimbabwe came and bested Lanka. You need to be consistent.

They have 0 spine. I've been watching the last few overs as well. Really poor by the spinners.

Spine is not the right choice of words.

They lack direction. They lack temperament. They have not won an ODI series at home for a looong time. Even a hapless Pakistan side beat them 2 years back. Zimbabwe who was losing to Netherlands beat them not long ago.

Spine is defknitely the right word since they have no foundation to put them into any direction.

I was here, bcoz I know you wiill get excited over it, like 86 miandad,big deal, the team was going through lot of negativity, especially after the whole kumble Kohli fiasco, it happens,and that was 2 months ago, but agree Kohli needs to solve his odi captaincy sooner, coz he looks clueless at times.

I think they should have bowled out dhanajaya when he was in rhythm, coz bhuvi was new and all they needed was one wicket from either end.

They have good set of batsmen who are showing no spine.
 
Bumrah and Chahal should refine their batting skills. They may have to score runs too in the coming matches.:kohli2
 
Weird game this one. Not many bowlers gets 6 wicket hall and still end up losing. I feel sorry for Akila Dananjaya.

MS Dhoni is and will always be ten times the chaser that Kohli can ever hope to be tbh. Kohli can get all his hundreds and 150s when others from the top order have played as well or better than him but rest assured that when there's a collapse around the corner, Kohli doesn't hold candle to MSD at dealing with such situations and taking the team forward close to / to victory. It was hilarious seeing him coming in the middle of a good spell and perishing within 5 balls without putting in a fight. All too similar.

That's the reason Ind 'll need MSD in their batting lineup up till 2019 WC. He brings the experience and cool calm attitude on the field and at the crease Teams 'll always be worried about him more than any other ind player. He should bat up the order and leave the finishing job to HPandya. He is the reason Kohli is not panicking on field.
 
India was caught napping in the middle overs. Don't think it will happen again. Still it is a travesty they could not close out after triggering a massive collapse. Kohli has not exactly been in usual spectacular form. Kohli clearly told before hand he doesn't mind losing a few to experiment a bit. SL needs more than one mystery bowler to compete with other countries not just India. Malinga is past by sell date.

Dhoni feeds of batsman at the other end. He cannot take charge and win it single handedly. So winning depends on how the batsman at the other end shows sense .In situations where quick runs are required dhoni almost always asks the batsmen at the other end to take risks while he plays safe. Again winning depends on how successful the one taking risks is. This has been story of MSD entire career. For most matches he feed off Yuvraj, Raina, Gambhir, Sehwag or any top order batsman survived to finish the game.
Contrast this with Kohli who takes the charge and see his through. Winning chances are obviously more. Only issue with kohli is his struggle against seam/swing. But ODIs are mostly flat everywhere.
