Think india should be aggresive with ball and look for wickets. Apart from smith and Labu the batting hasnt been great and i can see if India do bowl well and catch well i can see Aussies been bowled out for something that india would fancy chasing.

What would be interesting if Australia declare and set a total that is achievable. Something like 300 in 70 overs or something. Then India goes on the attack trying to win, while also giving Australia a chance to pick wickets. Then it comes down to the wire in the last session of Day 5.

Australia have to bat quick - they have no choice if they want to win.

Warner will be the key and you would think he is due a big score after failing so far.

196 overs scheduled left so plenty of time for Aussies to try and score runs and then take 10 wickets after aslong as rain doesnt spoil the game.

India will retain trophy if series is drawn. So its down to Aussies to try and force a win here. At same time india shouldnt try and be negative and just draw.

Trivia: Here is an article regarding the name behind Washington Sundar's unique name.

Washington Sundar, only 17, has already been noticed in this edition of the Indian Premier League for his gritty off-spin. Replacing a player of the caliber of R Ashwin is not easy, but the teen has managed to fill the big boots, claiming eight wickets in the 10 matches he has played so far.

His match-winning figures of 3/16 against Mumbai Indians in the first Qualifier to propel Rising Pune Supergiant to the final made him a household name. And raised a lot of questions as well, with a name as unique as Washington Sundar.

Turns out, there is a very heartwarming story behind it. He is named after a late Army officer, his father’s mentor, who died before Washington was born.

M Sundar, Washington’s father, also played cricket in his day. But coming from a poor background, he didn’t always have the resources to follow the sport. However a neighbour, an ex-army man called PD Washington, helped him out early in his career.

“Washington was extremely fond of cricket and would come to watch us play at the Marina ground. He took a liking for my game,” Sundar told The Hindu. “I was poor and he would buy [a] uniform for me, pay my school fee, get me books, take me to the ground in his cycle and constantly encourage me,” he added.

Sundar eventually played in the TNCA first division league and Washington had a large role to play in it, continues The Hindu report. “I decided to name [my son] Washington in memory of the man who had done so much for me,” Sundar was quoted as saying.

Unfortunately, PD Washington passed away in 1999, a few months before Sundar’s first son was born and named in his honour. In fact, such is Sundar’s gratitude towards his mentor, if he had a second son, he would have named him “Washington Jr”.

Leading his team to the IPL final at 17 is no mean feat, and Washington is definitely making his father and his mentor’s name proud.

What an awesome story.....Washy- looks to be a good long time prospect - only 21....he bats like a proper top order batsman, good defence...him and Natarajan-just heart warming awesome stories....Nattu has also made a cricket academy in his village - a real life hero.....Go the awesome Tamilian Lions....Go India :salute

If Australia want to win, then Warner needs to score a characteristic Warner 100. And maybe Smith can free up as well. Don't see India being bowled out inside a day.

Pretty decent start by India. Warner last evening looked ready to take us down. But edging it instead today.

OMG - Shane Warne is basically accusing the Indian bowler of suspected spot fixing.

He said he bowled 5 massive no balls on the first ball of each over.

Did Shane Warne just accuse T Natarajan of spot fixing for bowling so many no balls and majority of them being the first ball and almost all of them being big no balls?

He said he bowled?

Yeah he got called for them but basically he’s seeing a pattern as they are big ones at the start of each over.

Suspicious maybe but not sure he should be calling it without any evidence

Warne has basically said whatever he wants in commentary nowadays lol

Not watching the game right now, did Warne directly or indirectly accuse Natarajan?

Is someone able to quote Warne?

Yeah I see, anyhow lets see how Rahane handles Australians attacking

But the worrying this is its predicted at around 4 or 5 pm which is almost at the end of the day. Its gonna rain overnight but very little the whole day tomorrow. But then there is no consistency among the weather sites. So lets just hope the rain gods are pleased with us and send a few showers.

Shardul Thakur is a wicket taker. He somehow manages to get a wicket or two and that also when matters.

Why were Australia allowed to have that review? Warner had clearly timed out!

Is it me or others also find unnecessary ugly mannerisms by Labu when he leaves the ball?

If Australia bat 80 overs and score at RR of 4.0, they will score 320. So, a target of 354 for India in 115 overs assuming no rain.

Doubt if they will risk a target with a RPO of 3.0.

Australians are clearly just interested in survival, no intent at all. They need atleast 150 overs against this Indian batting line up and they will need to set them a game target, not something way out of reach

Shardul might get another test , Saini is not getting one for sure

Nah, 350+ is a good target for any team in the 4th inning here. RPO is less important. If Indians make it 350 then great job, but I will surely put 350+ as enough given than 115 overs are not even likely.

Aus needs to bowl at least 100 overs and they will have a good chance to win this test. It will allow them to bowl with the new ball twice.

Aus is batting at 3.7 runs per over. They don't want to get bowled out for 150 and hand over a win to India. Once they take the lead over 175-200, they can play T-20 if enough wickets are in hand.

150 overs are not needed in this pitch in the 4th inning. It's not Sydney. 100 overs should be enough if Aus bowls well. India can still hold out for a draw, but it won't be easy. All of this assuming rain allows it.

It should be easy enough to up the scoring as long as wickets are in hand. These are all newbies.

Why Rahane not set defencive field, tell them to Bowl at one side .stop the runs wicket anyway came as they attack

If weather holds, Australia is on its way to losing this match.

Need some more quick wickets, ideally of Smith. That'll delay the declaration.

Aus needs to take it 200+ then throw bats to make it 300+. Make sure to not allow a target of less than 220-230.

Wickets came due to attacking field and now Aus can't keep attacking.

I don’t know if India deserves to win this match

But Aussies do not deserve to win the series. They suck! Why do we always get a Megatron version of Australia in Australia but they turn into Starscreen against Australia?

We are in for a fascinating finish to this series. Australia seems to be willing to get bowled out under 275 but score at RR of 3.5+.

Superb great comeback from spirted bowlers.
With fall of wickets... Run rate also.controlled .

Great team work.. Fielding needs improvement still.

It's great to see. 300 runs will allow Aus to win if the rain stays away. If Ind can chase 300 runs then they will deserve a win.

Ball is spinning and edges are coming, this pitches changes like a weather in Mars. I have a feeling Aussies looking for 300 here, but only smith can take them there. India fancy their chances anything around 280 India can chase it. What a superb performance by young Indian bowlers.
