For all the talk about Pakistan not being a true democracy, I bet this would stun a lot of people in India. India should take a feather out of Pakistan and also check on Indians who were on Panama list. I've heard their Amitabh Bachman and their great Aishwarya Rai were on the list....

If it's about taking lessons? Then Pakistan has too many lessons to take from in Indian on various aspect of how to run a country.

Whether a party is corrupt or not, it gets to rule for 5 yrs if the party wins people's mandate.

What no,that's mockery of the Constitution,if corruption charged are proved the leader must resign,Indira made India suffer because of her stupid decisions.

Both are same. No supreme court will dare to touch the people in power (govt in India, and Army in Pakistan).

India has a good system and by/large keeps things in check. They also have an intelligent/mature electorate who will not elect idiots like we do.

Lol, hold your horses plz.

In Pakistan the army could not be touched

JaDed Ashwaria Rai is not on the list, the OP is lying.

I think the Indian posters would second me on this, corruption in India was by far conducted at a larger scale compared to Pakistan but things have improved and the while there may be corruption at many stages and I'm many different factions of the Govt. - the scandles are not as large.

Corruption at the top has reduced compared to previous congress governments.
 • Firstly Modi has no siblings, children/ family involved in politics , that is his biggest USP for his anti-corruption image.
 • BJP top brass like Jaitley , Sushama, Rajnath are all clean, only Gadkari has some acusations.
 • Lower/state level BJp is still ruled by local power centers and congress defectors, so corruption is more or less same at that level.
 • Modi has taken to reduce the corruption levels in bureaucracy and lower govt levels, by making many things more transparent. Even if there are workarounds, they feel the heat much more than the past.
 • Top most business houses like Amabani (reliance), Adani etc already have a vice grip over the country no matter who rules, so corruption at that level is beyond saving. It is sort of like the Russian Oligarch situation.
 • Overall corruption is lesser, but the problem is all the other stuff that comes with this government, again at the lower level, rural/uraban level of govt, India is still India. That needs a cultural change ,not just the government !

Amitabh Bachan is rumored to have been a big chaddi-buddy of Rajiv-Sanjay Gandhis. That is why his career / other interests were aided heavily by Indira's government who also facilitated his political entry. He's been amassing huge wealth since back then. Now he too has swiftly switched loyalties, and usually plays the nationalist (read : BJP) card.

Its Idiots like us who still put him above the pedestal as some sort of "symbol" for India.

Ash is too pretty, She's forgiven. :)

The reason corruption has reduced is because now we have god fearing, pious and pure leaders in power who have injected morality and made politics a clean profession once again.

Lets not be too arrogant. This is not how Pakistan functions at all, I am sure it was a huge surprise for everyone. Pakistan hasn't reached that stage yet, let alone be an example for other nations to follow.

Which made Nawaz the perfect leader in many ways. He truly represented the people.

Ok no Modi. But googling Indian people and panama shows Amitabh Bachan and Aishwarya rai both of who are Bollywood royalty

This verdict just proves that Judiciary in Pakistan is strong enough and can't be influenced by any rich families.

The power center in Pakistan is the Army not PM.

I pray someone puts the corrupt "Family" in jail.

This. It's one institution that Pakistan can rely on. This was a big test for the SC and they passed. There's not much else to learn from this yet. What happens in the coming days is just as important as the fight to bring the Sharif family to justice

Everybody knows that these guys has no power except looting money. But no one will dare to touch the army in Pakistan. If anybody does that, then that would be the golden moment in their history.

Still, this verdict looks like is a good a sign for them.

Verdict is great no doubt.

In India we havent even convicted a ex PM let alone sitting PM.

It was a historic achievement by Pakistans Supreme court, will definitely empower the courts more.

I don't like how each country tries to set the other one as its precedent. Do your own thing and go by it.

Tbh, I revered Indira Gandhi before coming here. Thought that she was a strong lady who had the guts to act up on anything put in front of her. But reading about Operation Bluestar and emergency etc has changed that opinion a lot.....

She is still the best PM we had in terms of efficiency in foreign matters. She was and will always remain an inspiration.

The only persons with a stronger Will were Sardar Patel and My hero Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose (Heard of him?)

She got her just desserts. May she rest in peace.

Your premise is correct but you have to realize Nawaz Sharif was no Yousuf Raza Gilani. He was a very strong PM and probably our strongest PM since 1999.

Ofcourse Army calls many shots but at this moment in time the civilian government had enough clout and power to go at loggerheads ever so often with the army (even if it didnt always get its way). And just this much shows that there is progress and that the PM wasnt some lame duck. Historically civilian governments wouldn't have even dared to make statements or take steps which this govt took

Who is she? Saw this tweet

Which country has ever dare to touch the army? Lets not believe everything you hear from loud mouth Arnab.

Nothing wrong in army having more power, and the reason for them to have power because of incompetent government.

This is historical moment for Pakistan, and it will further enhance the democracy in Pakistan.

The only difference is Imran Khan, not even a single person would've stood against these criminals if it wasn't him.

Sir with all due respect in most democracies the Army will be pulled up and prosecuted for corruption charges.

India has put in jail its former Airforce Chief for suspected corruption.Sacked the Navy Chief for insubordination and so on.

until today, the same statement was true for pakistan :((

W are well ahead of India when it comes to dealing with corrupt politicians. They've not even started the process yet! Understandably, Indian media is displeased that their puppet Nawaz has been removed.
