Shikhar dhawan to make debut tomorrow..rahane ignored again. meanwhile Cheteshwar Pujara has been
declared fit for the third Test.
Pujara had sustained a knee injury
during net practice.

Bookies reckon there is a strong chance of rain

This win will be worthless. It'l be like taking candy away from 5 year old kid. Sad stuff what happened but what MSD can do? It turned out more disasterous tour than india in australia or england.

chickens.count.hatch

I expect an Aussie fightback.specially Clarke will have lot to prove. We have not whitewashed a team for long and I dont expect it to change

feel sad for Rahane:(
MSD:69:

Rahane doesnt seems to be made/ready for test.

with no patto and Johnson in the team Aussie pace attack is doomed

Now now .. Dont get cocky.
We have plenty of posters here to be doing that job Itachi n Riddle.

Well have Australia 11 players left?

They will probably play the following team:

Warner
Cowan
Hughes/Smith
Clarke
Haddin/Smith
Wade
Henriques
Maxwell
Starc
Sidle
Doherty

Really that's hurt to see an australian line up like this...

I dunno mate, thing is.. during the last ODI series too he looked very much ruffled. Didnt carried on to finish things when he had got a start and looked comfortably set. Disappointed really.
moreover his stature really is puny.. combine both and it looks like a case of sitting duck in a test match. Somehow never exuded confidence.

I do hope w.e he comes to the team, he justifies his selection.

Kind of amusing to see such a lineup.

Both Smith and Haddin are decentish players of spin though.

Why are people assuming Australia will be a pushover.

Its Australia. A team which prides itself on competing. Never write them off.

For some reason, I am fearing for a very tough fight from this (cornered)OZ team.

Pitch is most likely to be a flat one with less/no assistance for spinners so its doubly important for us to get the wickets of Warner and Clarke cheaply if we can Or else we might be in for hunting the leather all day.

Similarly, Starc could be handful on a early morning start here.

Hope its a good contest between bat and ball :)

n Dhawan is?Rahane averages 60+over 60 FC matches as opposed to 45 of Dhawan who has one good season.I can see whos more ready

Do you know that the first class pitch at Delhi is actually LOW SCORING most of the times? Conditions are even tougher with early morning freshness in winters when Ranji Trophy is held. Even Gambhir and Sehwag don't avg.50 playing for Delhi (though Gambit has done better than most Delhi openers), Dhawan's sub 50 avg. should not be used against him.
Rahane is better than Dhawan though but as an opener? He batin the middle order for Mumbai.

I think Rahane had to sit out because we seem to be enamored of the left-right opening combo. Good luck to Dhawan, a player I don't rate highly, but I'll be happy to be proved wrong. :msd

Rahane has opened in the past n faces new ball at no.3 anyway.so dont think its much of an issue

about Dhawan,he has one good season only.also if you see him play hes too flashy, technically poor player.may succeed on these pitches but not a long term option which Rahane is

Possible team 1 David Warner, 2 Ed Cowan, 3 Phillip Hughes, 4 Michael Clarke (capt), 5 Steven Smith, 6 Brad Haddin (wk), 7 Moises Henriques, 8 Mitchell Starc, 9 Peter Siddle, 10 Xavier Doherty, 11 Nathan Lyon. .... looks ok .

thats the only possible team:))

Re: India vs Australia 3rd test, Mohali ,14 March 2013

Wade is injured. So unlikely to feature.

Expecting Aussies to fightback here given all that has happened. Limited choices actually is forcing them to field the best possible combination , 3 pacers and 2 spinners.

i'm supporting the indian team for third one......as wanna enjoy more of this homework saga.....hop :msd will not disappoint

Latest word is that Maxwell & Wade won't play (Maxwell dropped, Wade too injured).

Likely XI:

Cowan
Warner
Hughes
Clarke
Smith
Haddin
Henriques
Siddle
Starc
Lyon
Doherty

Somehow, despite us being clear fav. I am kind of scared about this test. :starc

clarke will be trying to prove a point here. he will be in full force along with warner, starc and siddle.India need to be careful.

All the Australians have done their homework for this match.

Hahaha touche!

If history is anything to go by, Aus may very well win this match. Don't think draw is a possibility cause I don't see this Aus lineup holding up for a draw. Mostly a hit or get out type

Mikey and Mickey made a mistake dropping Maxwell. Xavier should have been the one to sit out.

Hold your horses, 2 more tests left to be played.

Sehwag could have made merry of these bowlers, since no Pattinson. But but but.....MSD screwed him :(

I'm not convinced about Vijay and Dhawan opening, alright Vijay did well here in the 2nd test but still has a lot to prove.

Aussies will still it difficult though, even if they get India out once fairly cheaply, I think their batsmen will simply not be able to step up barring Clarke.

Rain and Bad light likely to wash-out the entire day.

What a dampener after such a massive build up to this test. :(

Can't blame Saurav, yesterday was bloody hot and sunny actually here.

Rain is the best thing happening from Australia's pov, it brings their fast bowlers in the spotlight once again. Hopefully we'll win the toss and bowl first.

I'm a local here as well.there were no indications that it might rain today, all the days leading upto it were bright and sunny.

Yeah I know but some of the predictions of the weather dept could be wrong at times.the thing was that it was not even humid during the last few days it was just hot in the day and pleasant at night.

thanks for defending my weather prediction skills lol

Hopefully it keeps raining and we can finagle a draw out of it :D

No, it just makes it your fault. You tempted the gods by making your bold, dry weather prediction and they chose to tease you. Entirely your doing.

do tell me.. ur predictions were coming by looking up at the skies with the naked eyes.. right ??

This match will last for three days. 3rd test, 3 point plan for improvement. Game on for 3rd ranking. All the signs are there. :zoni

1pm It has been called off. First day is gone. Amid all feedback suggesting this has been Australia's best day of the tour, I take your leave. A reminder that the remaining four days will start at 9am. Toss tomorrow - if everything goes right - at 8.30am. So long then

cricinfo update .

but they trolled me first by having sunny days which led me to make that prediction

not gonna believe them from now on:D

The entire country is dry right now, Chandigarh has to be the only place where its raining.

Sorry sir, there is supposedly a part of India called the North East, which is often under clouds, and often forgotten by the mainstream as well.

BTW, today's bad weather is attributed towards western disturbance over North Pakistan-J & K. It's more likely to clear up tomorrow onward, with Rains returning to the area from 17th onward.

I knew it was a Pakistani conspiracy:zaka

No not by looking upto the skies with naked eyes but observing the weather for the past few weeks.it wasn't even humid.
