Guys we can have all discussions regarding team selections and strategies here.

India should play harbhajan in place of pandya tomorrow.
Nagpur pitch offer spin and pandya short stuff will be canon fodder for NZ batsman.

I think the most pressing issue for the Indian team management is who should they play between Nehra and Shami.

People should not have such phattu mentality on Hardik Pandya. He's a confident young man and a hard worker. I know conditions aren't great for him but if you dont show confidence on him now he will never become the superstar Bhaijaan had predicted earlier.

Yuvraj can bowl an over or two.

Not sold on him.
Bowls too many loose balls in an over and this is not Asian cup.
Williamson, Anderson and co. will try milk his over to the fullest.

Having said that, NZ's had India's number in major tourneys. They often hit us bad. So lets make sure they dont hurt us early on this time.

I would drop Pandya and will pick Shami. Strengthen your bowling line up.

When you top 6 is so strong, you really don't need another batsman. Even though Jadeja and Ashwin are capable batsmen.

That's an incorrect assessment.
NZ are in some red hot form and underestimating them would be foolishly naive.

It's not going to that comfortable at all.

NZ is no Pakistan or Sri Lanka. They will fight till the end.

Indian Team is in red hot form too, not saying NZ are some push overs but still Kiwis wont be that comfortable against spin if India does choose to pick that extra spinner in the side.

Guptil was unsold in IPL

Would be a good reply to all the IPL owners thinking that he wasn't good enough to play against Spin. Needs to prove his doubters wrong.

Actually we don't know whether the track will offer spin or not.
If it does then it will we walk in park for India but if it's flat pitch then things will become tricky.
Remember if it's batting shoot out kind of match then we are pretty much same or just slightly better.

I don't think he can.
Against a weak spin attack, maybe but India got the best spin attack in the tournament.

I'm not too sure about that. Yes Pandya's bowling is a bit of a concern but we always have yuvi and raina to back him up if he has an off day. Even 2 overs would be enough from him if other bowlers are bowling well.
Add to that Pandya can definitely hit big and we will need that in a high scoring run chase.
Pandya is also a very good fielder so it's a bit hard to drop him.

That is correct. Moreover Nagpur is India's unlucky ground. India tends to lose there despite being in good position. It was at this venue that India lost their only match during 2011 World cup (Like Nagpur, my presence is also unlucky for India- I was present on the ground for that match).

Read that the pitch in Nagpur will be a dust bowl.

NZ are unlikely to play 3 spinners, so the bowlers will probably be Milne, Boult, Santner, Ish, Anderson and Elliot.

Btw, match tickets for this game are available now on bookmyshow, the cheaper tickets seem to be sold out.
Tickets are available from Rs. 4000 onwards. Indian_Supporter.

Streak on the line for Kiwis here,we have never beat them in T20 match.

Please come to the Eden Gardens on the 19th :))
Turn will take NZ down easily imo.

I want India to win tbh because we have a better chance of beating NZ and NZ beating India will make the group too complicated and will make it even more difficult to qualify

India never defeated NZ because of so few matches between them.
India and NZ have only played 4 T20I in entire T20 history.

Considering we have won a T20 tournament and made it to a final for one that's a shabby record to have. They have beaten us at home as well.

it will be 200 type pitch and will offer some turn as read in todays lokmat

nope it will be 180+ as icc order to make batting friendly wickets but will offer some turn in later half due will not be factor but hope it will not rain as from few days here is raining in evening

India should play Mohammad Shami- either as a replacement of Nehra or Pandya, better would be later, also Dhoni needs to come ahead of Yuvraj if batting first and we are 2/3 wickets down in 15 overs, need to score atleast 180 if batting first or restrict New Zealand to 175 if chasing.

Lot of ifs and buts above but in my opinion that is how it is!

Don't think kiwis will be able to handle Jaddu, Yuvraj and Ash, expecting a tight match with Dhoni finishing it off in style.

If India loses this match for some reason then they might be underpressure in the Pak match

I hope India loses, just to spice up the group some more. India will easily win all of their other matches though..

My prediction if India bats first
India 207 /1
Rohit 140*
NZ 189/9 (20 overs)
Ashwin 4/27

If India fields first
Kiwis 156/8
Panda 3/18 :razzaq
India win by 9 wickets with 5 overs to spare
Rohit 110*

Ashraful_Rox either hyping India or jinxing it, Kiwis are a strong team they always surprise everyone in the ICC tournaments.

We beat SA in wc15 ad broke our streak. We will beat NZ and will break another streak. But our streak vs pak will go on.... :))

Shami is a must vs NZ imo. They have hitters and shami can hold them but i dont think anything will change till we lose a game

I don't believe in Jinx man. Kiwis only surprised themselves as world cup was played at their own backyard, without Macca they aren't an aggressive bunch, Kane is a good bloke and an awesome batsman but not a smart captain, against Dhoni he will be outclassed.

Why are you always hyping up poor Sharma?

Ms Dhoni was the captain 4 times we lost to Kiwis as well, just saying. :msd

Can you name me any other batsmen who scores double tons in Odis like Sharma? He is the Lara of Odi's, he has more daddy centuries in Odi's than anyone else in the history of cricket. The guy is pure class, in the first match in Aussie tour last year, when everyone was getting out to Starc, guess who scored a 150+ and even hit Starc for a six?

Rohit and Dhawan must fire for India to win.

Cannot rely on Kohli to bail us out. 190 is a minimum to challenge the Kiwi batting lineup.

Struggles when the ball moves though.

Going to be a good match. India will be facing worthy opponents after a long time.. Asia cup was a huge disappointment.

Finally someone understood it. Rohit is the best LOI batsman in the world. Only ABD can match his shots.

They won't be worthy either, ashwin jadeja will run through their lineup

I like Williamson yaar. He's a good batsman. NZ's chances entirely depend on him. Ashwin will open the bowling on a turner at Nagpur. I'm looking forward to see how Guptill and Williamson go against him..

Are you sure about that ?

This will be an exciting start of super 10

For NZ .... don't let the Indians chase ... unless Indians win the toss and field first. The Indians have almost perfected the art of chasing since they know the target and what the track is doing. NZ is a great fielding side, so they won't gift anything away ... but this format is very unforgiving ... few dot balls and the batting side is under pressure. Why it is so difficult to "read" a pitch before the match starts ??? With all the experienced coaches and veterans playing, somebody should be able to nail the nature of the pitch. This one thing I am really puzzled ... may be someone has the answer .... sure hope so.

The match lost half of its charm because there is no BMac.

Yeah it may have, but NZ have replacements. Colin Monro is a big threat still. He's still new, but dude can hit the ball a long way and is very strong. Pak fans learnt first hand :sree

It all lies on Guptill, Williamson and Anderson. Esp Guptill.

Lets go, Kiwis! Would be epic if Pakistan beat India in the second match and virtually knock them out of the World T20. Major trolling and bum-hurting delivered to one billion people.

Second only to the Aussies in the chasing department. Respect.

Bumrah and Ashwin will be the key, it is a matter of those 15 runs they save in the death overs and PP

Kiwis are strong in every department. India will be under pressure and their bowling is laughable to say the least. Kiwis will beat them with a huge margin.

lol whether india can take pressure or not will be tested in this tournament. Kiwis and Aussies are far better teams.

If India loses to Nz and Pakistan loses to Bangladesh, 19 should be a cracker.

places a bet on India and pakistan to win the cup so if either wins im safe hahah , India have the best spin attack and if this is a turne NZ will struggle I still think a subcon team will lift it with Bang bros and SL,Pak having a decent chance . Nawaz must play sami is simply useless imo
