When: Saturday, October 17, 2020, Saturday, 15:30 IST

Where: Dubai International Stadium, Dubai

What to expect: Royals have another day game, just the second in Dubai so far, having played Hyderabad five days ago at the same venue. The wicket has slowed down considerably, and a day game will have drier conditions. The spinners will play a vital role. Win toss, bat first.

Squads:

Rajasthan Royals Squad: Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler(w), Steven Smith(c), Sanju Samson, Robin Uthappa, Riyan Parag, Rahul Tewatia, Jofra Archer, Shreyas Gopal, Jaydev Unadkat, Kartik Tyagi, David Miller, Varun Aaron, Tom Curran, Andrew Tye, Mahipal Lomror, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Aniruddha Joshi, Manan Vohra, Ankit Rajpoot, Shashank Singh, Oshane Thomas, Mayank Markande, Anuj Rawat, Akash Singh

Royal Challengers Bangalore Squad: Aaron Finch, Devdutt Padikkal, Virat Kohli(c), Washington Sundar, Shivam Dube, AB de Villiers(w), Chris Morris, Isuru Udana, Navdeep Saini, Mohammed Siraj, Yuzvendra Chahal, Moeen Ali, Pawan Negi, Umesh Yadav, Josh Philippe, Shahbaz Ahmed, Pavan Deshpande, Adam Zampa, Parthiv Patel, Dale Steyn, Gurkeerat Singh Mann

The RCB merry go around continues. Dube, Mann and Siraj have been rotated like pawns as if they are responsible for RCB's losses. Not very different to how they have treated Indian youngsters in the earlier seasons. Thankfully Devdutt Padikal has so far perform ed making it difficult to drop him. Else RCB would have dropped him for Parthiv Patel.

For how long will RCB management continue to destroy young players to cover up the incompetence of their captain Kohli?

Rajasthan Royals have won the toss and have opted to bat

Teams:

Royal Challengers Bangalore (Playing XI): Aaron Finch, Devdutt Padikkal, Virat Kohli(c), AB de Villiers(w), Gurkeerat Singh Mann, Washington Sundar, Chris Morris, Shahbaz Ahmed, Isuru Udana, Navdeep Saini, Yuzvendra Chahal

Rajasthan Royals (Playing XI): Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler(w), Steven Smith(c), Sanju Samson, Robin Uthappa, Riyan Parag, Rahul Tewatia, Jofra Archer, Shreyas Gopal, Jaydev Unadkat, Kartik Tyagi

Shahbaz Ahmed.
RCB Debutant. Left arm spinner and bowling all rounder.
Good luck young man !! Contribute as much as you can..

RR’s opening combinations in #IPL2020

Yashasvi Jaiswal-Steve Smith

Robin Uthappa-Ben Stokes

Robin Uttappa out of nowhere gets back to form

Pathetic today by Stokes. Terrible choice for opener!

Sanju Samson comes across as even worse and disappointing than Umar Akmal.

I remember Indian fans using him as an example of how Pakistan doesn’t have local batsmen who can hit the ball cleanly.

That's the brilliance of Chahal (Indian Spinner) and so this is nothing about comparison with Pakistani players!

That Sanju Samson wicket has nothing to do with the bowler’s brilliance, it’s just a typical soft dismissal for. Guy that was being hyped to the moon because the was scoring 6s for fun at a Mickey Mouse ground like Sharjah

Whenever I see this guy Samson’s face, it’s like he has no shame or seriousness in regards to the game and his responsibility towards his team and franchise.

Not sure if this guy is taking this seriously at all

Sanju Samson - Batting Impact in #IPL2020

First Two Matches : +17.6 (159 runs off 74 balls at 12.9 rpo)
Last Seven Matches : -6.1 (77 runs off 73 balls at 6.3 rpo)

Samson faced more deliveries in the first two matches (74) than he has in the last seven (73)

Samson struggle against Chahal continues.
33 balls
30 runs
5 dismissals

On one hand you have Stokes, Butler, Archer and even Tiagi who are playing these games with warrior like intent.

On the other you have Samson who is consistently smirking after failing every game. This guy needs a serious reality check by being dropped

Both Uthappa and Smith back to form.
Good sign for RR. Credit goes to RCB

4 runs in the last over!

4 wickets for Morris:

Stokes
Butler
Smith
Archer

This is what you expect your overseas to do!

If Samson is going to bat like a samosa and is playing just as a batsmen, they might as well replace him with another specialist batsman or an extra spinner

I don't think RCB has any other fast bowler left to try again.

Steyn- Trash
Udana- Trash
Umesh- Trash
Siraj- Trash
Saini- Good
Morris- Good

There are no quick/ready replacements available! Also he is capable of winning a match on his own, so teams would not be risking to leave him off for another marginally consistent average/above-average player! If he plays like this (inconsistent) he will definitely be not in the reckoning for the national team (best XI from the country), but he may get chance in IPL teams...

Good innings from Smith. Was just a matter of time before he scored. This score should be defended

They can use Moeen in UAE better than the pacers they have. Is Richardson available or injured? Probably a better choice than Styen at this age or Udana.

Samson Keeping. Looks like the Akmal brotherhood is repeating itself this time in the form of Butler and Samson

Padikal or Finch need to score a ton here

If that was the case, RCB would not have worried this season and fancied winning the cup! This is one of their major weakness (Openers who can't last long!)

Kane Richardson withdrew from the tournament due to COVID travel restrictions and birth of his first child.

I think Moeen will return in place of Udana next match but they may need third pacer also.

RCB will be happy if they reach playoffs! I don't think they can do more than that! (Lack of 5th & 6th Batsmen, Lack of 3rd Seamer - 3 huge loopholes for the opposition to exploit! The reason why they shielded ABD the other night!) But they do have covered up some areas compared to previous seasons (like a good spearhead pacer - Morris, proper opening batsmen - instead of partiv, support to Chahal in the form of Sunder)

I hope RCB will persist with Padikkal, he may come good in 1 or 2 seasons (like Rahul) and don't give up to other franchisees... He may start scoring big and stay till the end (then Kohli & ABD will look even more dangerous with an assured opener!)

RCB can't chase.

They do not have the system for that! Finch is not lasting long on these sub-continent kind of slow pitches and Padikkal seams to lose his steam after few overs (Needs to work on his fitness). This has been a huge problem for RCB since the beginning (proper openers!). This is more bigger problem than their weak bowling (which is not that bad this time around!) Teams have won trophies with weak bowlers, but never with weak openers! Even when Gayle was playing for them and in top form, they lacked a partner to him (he used to get mediocre partners most times) the only time they did well was when Kohli was opening with him (AND perhaps when Rahul opened in 1 season - I don't remember! But by the time Gayle had past his prime!)

Yes, you can never chase without good openers (Dhoni chased in WC'11, because Gambhir played had an equally good innings!)

It's a good team, need more stability like MI has.

Except MI and DD, RCB are better than rest. I see them getting to playoffs irrespective of the result of this game. But they will lose in the final four.

That's why I think KXIP still have a chance if they can tighten up their middle-order (they can make up for the slow innings by openers at times!) Even though Rahul played some selfish innings, but still he is just the kind of opener RCB needs...

That's what I said, with "Openers" as huge weakness, almost 50% possibility of winning is gone (while chasing) and they can't get much lucky in knockouts against top teams!

I think teams have found out Padikkal (cannot pick the ball when pace is varied). He needs to work hard now if he wants to stay up! Even Rahul had similar issues in the beginning of his IPL career...

How do you keep Tewatia out of the game?

A bit of an Afridi this guy is

Unpopular opinion: Ab should open the batting

He is not a natural opener and it gives huge advantage to opposition if they get him out early just like they are under pressure when they know he is still to come... Its the job of others (we need to find proper openers), he is good at improvising even with spread-out field (which most others find difficult!)

RCB's chance of winning this cup (not necessarily this match though) really lies in the hands of Gurkeerat (forget ABD - its a team game, 1 person cannot do wonders always that too in knockouts! That's why the giant WI & Aus teams in the past were good! Because they had usually 11+ 3 (in the bench) highest quality players!), how he bats and what he brings to the table! RCB can say goodbye to this season too (No.5 & No.6 absent, 3rd seamer absent, Openers are half-good!)

Unadkat not even caring to runout at Gurkeerat's end (even though it was possible!)

Why don’t you just bowl a spinner if your pace bowler has no trust on his pace bowling?!!

At least 5 slower balls in that useless over by Unadkat!

pace matters. dont play if you cant bowl over 130. Just quit cricket. Thats all i can say unless you have the skills of mcgrath or bumrah or steyn dont bowl under 130. Unadkat you suck.

Why would you not bowl Archer in that 19th over? He's your best bowler and they need 35 from 2 overs, you bowl your best bowler, concede 6/7/8 and game's over. Instead Unadkat bowls, conceded 25 and gives all the momentum to the batting side and only 11 for the last over. Terrible captaincy

IPL elevated ABD to top of top of ATG batsman! In Bangalore he is bigger than Sachin for sure!

The importance of 5th batsman (the defense) even though what little contribution he gave! RCB should learn this lesson!

South Africans have really turned up!

Morris Man of the match for me even though AB will get it. His last over turned out to be crucial

More than pace its length what matters.... When Unadkat bowl fuller it only cost two in two balls..

Fastest 50 in 2020 IPL (For RCB)

ABD - 22b vs RR*
ABD - 23b vs KKR
ABD - 23b vs MI
ABD - 29b vs SRH

ABD show.
I love this man, what a talented batsman.

AB de Villiers did an AB de Villiers.:113:

ABD is a monster but he did sort of thrash a complete fodder in unadkat though. '
morris is such a good player. SO underrated. Complete player.

Thanks to dumb Smith for bowling Unadkat in the 19th. What a freaking terrible call ....:)):)):)):)):))

I was expected

Tyagi was impressive in this game.

Remember Unadkat bowled three dot balls to Gurkeerat Maan in third over and fourth one went for a single. He just got owned in front of ABD's blitzering.

Those three balls also slower ones into the surface, if ABD had faced them they too would have disappeared as well

RCB heavily dependent on Kohli and ABD. Local players are absolutely ***** here.
Finch is not taking responsibility.

This is not going to workout every time.

Not even Kohli, he doesn’t seem up to the mark even though he’s producing scores. AB has won them 2 games through freak performances

That bcz Gurkeerat played him as a fast bowler, if it was any known hitter that over willalso go 15+..

Yeah, being at non-striker end, AB already noticed that Unadkat basically has two deliveries. One is normal delivery at 130 Kph and other slower ones at 115-120 Kph.

They can go better only if both Padikkal and Finch extend their responsibilities & vision, Gurkeerat grows confidence from this innings and a proper 3rd seamer (this one is harder!) I think Dubey is in better shape to bat at No.6 and also that 3rd seamer job (I don't see any others)

This could be the team they should settle:

Padikkal
Finch
Kohli
ABD
Gurkeerat
Dubey
Morris
Sunder
Udana
Saini
Chahal

Only change they can try is playing Moeen Ali in place of Udana if the pitch is slower! (If they want to try this, they should do it before knockouts & see how it goes!) Dubey has been playing reasonably well and I don't think he can do worse than any 3rd seamer (Udana, Umesh, Steyn, Siraj...)

RCB should settle down and show faith in the proper combination (players who showed reasonable consistency & impact) I hope they won't drop Gurkeerat & Dubey in next matches (this is most important)

Kohli won the game against CSK

Not everyone can be ABD, and it not easy to grow & reach to that stature! (Even for seasoned players). Also Gurkeerat was under pressure to make an impact... He will grow confidence if he is persisted in coming matches...
