When: Saturday, October 17, 2020 at 19:30 IST

Where: Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Sharjah

What to expect: The pitches in Sharjah have become considerably slower through the course of the tournament. The small boundaries will still favour the batsmen, but there's more than a semblance of an even contest. But yet again, this could mean that the team that bats first will be at a significant advantage in the absence of dew. The toss could play a crucial factor.

Squads:

Delhi Capitals Squad: Prithvi Shaw, Shikhar Dhawan, Ajinkya Rahane, Shreyas Iyer(c), Marcus Stoinis, Alex Carey(w), Axar Patel, Ravichandran Ashwin, Tushar Deshpande, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, Harshal Patel, Mohit Sharma, Avesh Khan, Shimron Hetmyer, Rishabh Pant, Sandeep Lamichhane, Keemo Paul, Daniel Sams, Lalit Yadav

Chennai Super Kings Squad: Sam Curran, Faf du Plessis, Shane Watson, Ambati Rayudu, MS Dhoni(w/c), Ravindra Jadeja, Dwayne Bravo, Deepak Chahar, Piyush Chawla, Shardul Thakur, Karn Sharma, Murali Vijay, Kedar Jadhav, Josh Hazlewood, Imran Tahir, Lungi Ngidi, Monu Kumar, Mitchell Santner, Ravisrinivasan Sai Kishore, N Jagadeesan, Ruturaj Gaikwad, KM Asif

Sam Curran opening was bad strategy , with Watson in the team. No need to tinker unnecessarily

Lol ball might be missing legstump but that spike was due to bat hitting the ground.. there was a clear gap btw bat n ball.. :facepalm

Nortje should always bowl with fine leg outside of the circle

What's Sam Curran opening for, when you have proper batsmen in the team?

Dhawan is so good to watch when in full flow.

Waves his bat like a wand and the ball is heading towards the boundary.

Most 50s in IPL

David Warner - 46
Shikhar Dhawan - 40*
Virat Kohli - 38
Rohit Sharma - 38
Suresh Raina - 38
AB devilliers - 37

Now Dhawan will get picked for T20 squad in WC where this guy shouldn't be near in the team for t20.

21 from 12 balls !

Very interesting over coming up , this is make or break . Delhi need to get at least 10 - 12 runs here

Carey just give Dhawan the strike and stop wasting deliveries!

Who else would you take? padikal novelty wearing off and Shaw can’t step up now that the tournament is heating up

Jadeja to bowl it. Not smart as he will be angling into Dhawan’s arc

You’ve got to hand it to Dhoni

World class buffoonery to give Jadeja the last over

Only other option was Karn Sharma.. Don't know what happened to Bravo but he's in the dressings room last over..

Most innings before scoring first T20 hundred:
384 - Kieron Pollard
264 - Shikhar Dhawan
222 - Shahid Afridi
187 - Umar Akmal
181 - Virat Kohli

Ravindra Jadeja in the 20th over today:-
With the bat - 15(5)
With the ball - 22(5)

'Bravo was not fit, he went out and was really not able to come back. That was the reason we had to bowl (Jadeja). The option was between Karn and Jaddu so I went ahead with Jaddu' - MSD on the crucial final over

Kl Rahul
Mayank Agarwal
Shikhar Dhawan*
This is only IPL Season, When 3 Indian players Scored 1st 3 Centuries

Because CSK issue at the top of the order having been batting too slowly and Sam Curran strike rate is nearly 170 for CSK.

Curran's strike rate only matters if he scores any runs.

Ridiculous decision.

It's worth a gamble because CSK have a long batting line up and the original strategy wasn't working at all. They should have another overseas batter instead of packing themselves with all rounders and bowlers.

Not really true at all. Take any team, if their number 7/8 who is a slogger comes in as opener and scores a duck, it's not really much worse than them coming in at 8 and scoring a duck. On the other hand if they come in and score 20(10) and make good use of the powerplay, then it pays off. Opening time is the easiest to bat in T20s, so it makes sense that the better batsman should come later, and also if it does pay off then the good batsman can take their time to settle(which is what Watson does often)

It doesn't really hurt a T20 team if an inferior batsman scores a duck at the opening stage of an innings, it would only hurt a T20 team if a batsman faces 20 balls and scores 20 runs and then gets out.

This Curran kid is not as impressive as the commentators and some of the influential players of world cricket think he is.

Reminds me of an inferior version of the young Irfan Pathan who emerged in 2004, that player was actually a very special cricketer. This Curran is slightly above average.
