When: Wednesday, October 28, 2020, 19:30 IST

Where: Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi

What to expect: A 190+ total was chased down with 10 balls to spare in the previous game. However, not every team has managed to score as easily at the venue where boundaries have been hard to come by. The pitches at the venue haven't slowed down like they have in Sharjah and Dubai. The temperature is expected to hover in the late 20s.

Squads:

Royal Challengers Bangalore Squad: Devdutt Padikkal, Aaron Finch, Virat Kohli(c), AB de Villiers(w), Moeen Ali, Gurkeerat Singh Mann, Chris Morris, Washington Sundar, Navdeep Saini, Mohammed Siraj, Yuzvendra Chahal, Shahbaz Ahmed, Pawan Negi, Umesh Yadav, Josh Philippe, Pavan Deshpande, Adam Zampa, Parthiv Patel, Dale Steyn, Shivam Dube, Isuru Udana

Mumbai Indians Squad: Ishan Kishan, Quinton de Kock(w), Suryakumar Yadav, Saurabh Tiwary, Hardik Pandya, Kieron Pollard(c), Krunal Pandya, James Pattinson, Rahul Chahar, Trent Boult, Jasprit Bumrah, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Rohit Sharma, Dhawal Kulkarni, Aditya Tare, Mitchell McClenaghan, Chris Lynn, Jayant Yadav, Anmolpreet Singh, Anukul Roy, Mohsin Khan, Sherfane Rutherford, Digvijay Deshmukh, Prince Balwant Rai

Some point of discussion

On-field umpire Anil Chaudhary seemingly influenced a DRS call during the IPL 2020 clash involving Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals on Tuesday. His gesture may have helped SRH captain David Warner not go for a review as DC were chasing 220 at the Dubai International Stadium.

The incident occurred during the 17th over of DC chase when Ravichandran Ashwin was struck on the pad by Sandeep Sharma. However., Chaudhary tapped on his knuckles in an apparent signal that bat was involved.

Consequently, SRH didn’t go for the review.

The act immediately caught the attention of the commentators with the likes of Brett Lee, Scott Styris and Sanjay Bangar questioning it.

“Should the umpire be doing that? Standing there saying ‘bat’? With the ability now of teams to have reviews, should he be giving a cue to the players? When we played before DRS was around, we would often see umpires do that, and there was no problem because he was then helping the fielding team out as to say why it was given not out ‘I believe he hit it’. But now, with the DRS…” Styris said during the live broadcast.

Former India allrounder and batting coach Bangar agreed with Styris.

“I’m with your there, Scottie, on the umpire giving an indication to the players when they have to make a decision within those 15 seconds,” he said. “If at all they (umpires) want to convey something to the bowlers or to a player who might have just questioned him, he should be doing that after the 15 seconds. Not straightaway after the event has happened.”

Fast bowling legend Lee echoed their views.

“Watch the umpire here, tapping his hand, which is the universal umpire’s signal for ball hitting the bat. It basically says to the fielding side, the bowler ‘I believe he’s hit it, so there’s no point reviewing’. You still have your right to review, of course, but you’re not going to.”

As per the IPL playing conditions, “Under no circumstances is any player permitted to query an umpire about any aspect of a decision before deciding on whether or not to request a Player Review.”

However, it is silent on the scenario when an umpire ends up influencing review.

The decision though would make no impact on the final outcome as SRH registered a crushing 88-run win to keep their playoffs chances alive.

A lot of dew is expected. So, I feel maybe they can drop Moeen and play Dube and drop Saini for Udana or Steyn.

Yes maybe play Steyn, he can raise his game! (Perhaps use him just as new ball bowler along with Siraj) Morris should bowl in the final overs... Dube should play (he is the only power-player we have after Kohli & ABD in the middle order...) not sure why he is getting dropped... RCB should get their act together and settle with their playing XI before playoffs (assuming they won't mess with the remaining games and qualify!)

Mumbai Indians have won the toss and have opted to field

Teams:

Royal Challengers Bangalore (Playing XI): Devdutt Padikkal, Josh Philippe(w), Virat Kohli(c), AB de Villiers, Gurkeerat Singh Mann, Shivam Dube, Chris Morris, Washington Sundar, Dale Steyn, Mohammed Siraj, Yuzvendra Chahal

Mumbai Indians (Playing XI): Ishan Kishan, Quinton de Kock(w), Suryakumar Yadav, Saurabh Tiwary, Hardik Pandya, Kieron Pollard(c), Krunal Pandya, James Pattinson, Rahul Chahar, Trent Boult, Jasprit Bumrah

Joshua Phillipe comes in, Finch gets dropped.

A bit surprised with this change at this point of time and that too against MI pace attack of Boult, Bumrah and Pattinson. If there is some initial movement, expect some music right at top.

Kohli's habit of making extreme changes! Not surprised!

Paddikal is such an exciting talent. Apart from his batting skills, if we talk about his fielding and running between wickets, it's comfortably better than Gill and miles ahead of Shaw.

MI has taken the most wickets in Powerplay in this IPL.

The only two matches they failed to pick a wicket in this phase was both against RCB - 59/0 in Dubai (28 Sep) and 54/0 in Abu Dhabi today.

Its about making it at the bigger stage! (IPL is definitely bigger than domestic games and sometimes bigger than even bilateral international games!) The ones who do it better here are the ones you can rely! Hence IPL plays such an important part in quick-streaming young talents! And it is giving fair chance to everyone of those!

Well played young Padikkal.

Four 50 plus scores in debut season by uncapped Indian players:
Shikhar Dhawan in 2008 (DD)
Shreyas Iyer in 2015 (DD)
Devdutt Padikkal in 2020 (RCB)

This is why they shielded ABD in one of the games! (slow pitch, against spin). But going ahead & sending him soon will at least give a better chance because if he survives it he can always make it big, make it count later...

Good to see Padikkal applying himself after hitting 50... That should be his next level of thinking!

That is the real 360th degree shot from ABD (or perhaps 355th)

70* (41)

75 (51)

55* (24)"

That is AB last 3 innings against MI , can he get to 4th one.

OUTTT

AB gone , Big wicket for MI, this will probably make a difference of 15 runs in the final total.

Not a bad day for failures for Kohli and AB if RCB can get close to 190.

Anyways this is important in terms of Padikkal understanding his responsibility and stay till end! (Its needed in playoffs - Opener playing longer innings!)

Its up to bowlers actually! If they can bowl as better as they did in this season (except some matches like the last one against CSK) they will have a chance! But MI batting is better than most other teams!

Dubey's confidence was dented with losing place in the side perhaps!

It is up to RCB bowlers! If they can defend it against strong MI Batting on this pitch, then they will have better hope to reach longer this season!

Hopefully RCB get a beating here. Hope they lose all their games so they lose out on the playoffs. Would be funny to see all the Kohli fangirls reaction

No hopes in absence of Saini. Death over bowling not good

Oh dear, What a collapse this! RCB batting still over-reliant on AB to finish off inning.

Yeah and what will happen when AB bottles it as usual in the playoffs ? (Assuming RCB even make the playoffs)

Lol just get out, AB has won quite a few knockouts for RCB at its peak, not his problem if you decide to close your eyes then.

This depends on Steyn! He needs to get back to at least 3/4th of his best if RCB has any chance!

Well, we will see who's laughing after AB notches 0(5) in the knockouts :))

Lol, you are a novice, you will run away. It doesn't matter he and Kohli have already proved enough, it doesn't matter. You don't question legends and both are.

Kohli had a forgettable IPL so far. Not one impressive inning. On current form, Kohli should not even be in Indian T20 team.

Then how come AB has not won any titles with RCB? Kohli too.

Bowling attack was mediocre. This time it's decent. Even Gayle at its peak couldn't win them any title. Winning is a function of team, not individuals.

We already lost this game.
The second half was a sugar-crash for the RCB, who lost Kohli and AB in quick succession.

He is watching IPL first time, he have no idea about RCB bowling attack in past.

Chalo focus on game now :))

I think MI are favourites. I am more interested with Steyn and Siraj 8 overs spell.

RCB should win this. Going to be very difficult to go at 11-12 in the last 5-6 overs here

Suryakumar is looking good , he can get MI to a position from where they can look to explode.

This is gonna go down the wires. Polly and Pandu brothers up next.

Mum Indians need 35 runs in 24 balls. RRR: 8.75

A couple of wickets here will spice up the game .

RCB should stick to their winning combination:

Finch (or Phillipe - that's the only call they have to make!)
Padikkal
Kohli
ABD
Dube
Morris
Sundar
Udana
Saini
Siraj
Chahal

No more experimenting, all games are important from hereon...
