What do KKR need to ensure qualification?

- Winning both their remaining games will put them on 16 points - a tally that neither RR or SRH can match. If they get to 16, NRR will be the deciding factor.

- KKR can still qualify by winning just one of the two matches, but it will involve a bunch of other results going their way

When: Chennai Super Kings vs Kolkata Knight Riders, October 29, 7:30 PM IST

Where: Dubai International Cricket Stadium

What to expect: The pitches are clearly getting drier by the day, and dew is making its presence felt in the second innings. Unless you can score 200-plus like SRH did against DC or suffer an inexplicable collapse in a paltry chase (again) like SRH against KXIP, the formula of win-toss-bowl-first has made its way back. CSK themselves pulled it off against RCB in what was perhaps their best performance of the season.

Squads:

Kolkata Knight Riders Squad: Shubman Gill, Nitish Rana, Rahul Tripathi, Dinesh Karthik(w), Eoin Morgan(c), Sunil Narine, Pat Cummins, Lockie Ferguson, Kamlesh Nagarkoti, Prasidh Krishna, Varun Chakravarthy, Andre Russell, Kuldeep Yadav, Sandeep Warrier, Siddhesh Lad, Nikhil Naik, Tim Seifert, Chris Green, Rinku Singh, Ali Khan, Tom Banton, Shivam Mavi, Manimaran Siddharth

Chennai Super Kings Squad: Ruturaj Gaikwad, Faf du Plessis, Ambati Rayudu, MS Dhoni(w/c), N Jagadeesan, Sam Curran, Ravindra Jadeja, Mitchell Santner, Deepak Chahar, Imran Tahir, Monu Kumar, Shane Watson, Kedar Jadhav, Piyush Chawla, Murali Vijay, Karn Sharma, Lungi Ngidi, Ravisrinivasan Sai Kishore, KM Asif, Shardul Thakur, Josh Hazlewood

KKR probably has a little advantage that their last two fixtures are against bottom two teams - CSK & RR. Any game in IPL isn’t easy (not in any draft based tournament) and it doesn’t mean they’ll win both; but I am sure KKR are more than happy with these two fixtures than say two games against Mumbai & Delhi.

KKR have serious balance problems that were obvious 2 years back after auction. They will not qualify and even if they do they will be knocked out at first hurdle.

Teams:

Kolkata Knight Riders (Playing XI): Shubman Gill, Nitish Rana, Rahul Tripathi, Dinesh Karthik(w), Eoin Morgan(c), Rinku Singh, Sunil Narine, Pat Cummins, Lockie Ferguson, Kamlesh Nagarkoti, Varun Chakravarthy

Chennai Super Kings (Playing XI): Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shane Watson, Ambati Rayudu, MS Dhoni(w/c), N Jagadeesan, Sam Curran, Ravindra Jadeja, Mitchell Santner, Karn Sharma, Deepak Chahar, Lungi Ngidi

Chennai Super Kings have won the toss and have opted to field

Anyone know why Gill has a towel hanging out of his trousers? I understand bowlers carrying towels but batsmen?

Both Gill and Paddikal have over 400 runs this tournament. Good season this for the two young guns.

KKR deserve the humiliation. Why is Morgan always coming in so late when is clearly the best batsmen in the team? You want your best players facing as many balls in T20 as possible. Forget the stats, back yourself and lead from the front.

Morgan should be batting at number 3 , and look to control the game , he is best batsman in the side.

I think KKR will win this. 170+ is a good total but could have scored a bit more if Morgan batted at 4. It should be enough for CSk atleast.

Touch & go, but KKR’s bowling is good, they have the edge.

That Gaikwad guy seems to be a very good bat.. that straight drive over the bowlers head was awesome (151kph delivery)..

Base has been laid to chase this down. Cummins impotent again at the front

KkR should drop Cummins and play Russell next game. Also drop Rinku Singh for Prasidh Krishna.

A few tight overs here by KKR and increase the required rate higher. This should be KKR plan.

Ruturaj Gaikwad in IPL:
First 3 innings: Two Ducks
Next 2 innings: Two Classy 50s

Dont spark the spark

Super Kings need 64 runs in 42 balls. RRR: 9.14

KKR bowling toothless despite playing two top International fast bowlers

30 from 12 balls !

Big over coming up here , If KKR can keep it to 10 runs they will have edge otherwise Chennai have edge

Nagarkoti everyone, a whole over of length deliveries at 138kmh

Nagarkoti choked. He bowled 2 length balls at predictable 142kmph speed. Both smacked for maximums by Jaddu.

KKR 172/5 (20)
CSK 178/4 (20) CRR: 8.9
Chennai Super Kings won by 6 wkts

That's why you play Jadeja in your team. He has improved by leaps in his batting, good enough to bat at 7 for India.

150 bowler Ferguson has been smashed by Jadeja.. Nagarkoti consistently bowl well over 140s in last over by the way..

50 in 35 balls vs SRH
21 in 8 balls vs KKR
25 in 10 balls vs SRH
33 in 13 balls vs DC
31 in 11 balls vs KKR

Rituraj has shown the talent that he is. He came in and got positive with Covid. We didn't have much time to have a look at him. He is one of the talented youngsters going around. He is not someone who speaks a lot.

We are not in a position to qualify for the next stage but we have had a glimpse of people who can play for us in the coming seasons.

- Dhoni

Dhoni tone changed after Spark Man performance:))

Indians want to laugh at Naseem Shah and Shaheen Shah for having Test averages of 30-34 but Nagarkoti is the same age as them.

And KXIP & SRH too..

SRH has very low chance, their next two games are vs MI and RCB and there are other permutations and combinations that has to go right for them. But considering the injuries and other limitations, I would say they have done a decent job in this tournament.

Punjab seems to be stronger contender at this point and have in them to go to playoffs and beat DC or RCB.

What if SRH loose one match?
We will be fine?

If they wins against RCB then i believe they'll have higher chance.. fortunately for them their toughest one is the last game of the season..

But they will also have to beat MI which is a tougher task? If RCB loses to SRH and DC both and SRH then loses to MI, RCB will still make it with 7 wins unless their losses are big and SRH will end with 6 wins only.

Anyways, if RCB or DC are losing their next two games, they better don't deserve to go to playoffs with 4 or 5 consecutive losses.

That's why you never underestimate jaddu Bhai. Freaking legend. In tests he already has ATG stats. In odi he can be clutch.

Even in his worst format that is t20 he can still be a quality player. Legend.
