Did anyone follow this show? I normally don't see these so-called reality shows as they're scripted but this boy has this uncanny similarity with Nusrat sahab's voice...

With that voice, he will remain one trick pony. Only suitable for qawwalis.

Yeah, thats why I'm surprised he won this show as normally they promote all rounders in this show.

Still, he imitates Nusrat saheb quite well. Loved his rendition of his songs.

Nusrat certainly wansn’t one trick pony. So if this guy can sing like him he must be very talented.

One trick pony might be the wrong choice of words and an insult to Nusrat Sahab. This guy is certainly talented but his voice suits one particular type of genre- Sufi, not the commercial playback singing which unfortunately is more popular and generate more $$$.

I have been following this show and read somewhere that he lied to gain sympathy like many others in these type of reality shows about being boot-polisher and that he never had any training in Music. He used to listen to Nusrat Sahab and started singing. Which is hard to believe.

Ok, I haven’t heard music for ages, and have not heard this guy at all. I just said he must be talented if he can sing like Ustad Nusrat, even if it’s one spesific type of music.

one-trick pony
noun
a person or thing with only one special feature, talent, or area of expertise.

So now one has to show obeisance to entertainers lest it be seen as an insult. fascism.

Oh man... I know what one trick pony means. What i meant was some words don’t sound nice in some situations. There are better words to describe same thing.

I think indian shows overdramatize struggle stories that’s why I don’t like it at all

He's a brilliant singer and destined for stardom.

He sang some Nusrat stuff brilliantly.

Amazing voice and what a wonderful story he is.

My mother praised him a lot so heard him for Indian Idol standards he is really good, esp the pauses.

There's a chand qawali group in the uk
And obviously there's the fayyaz group from Coke studio
I wouldn't say this dude is more talented than any of them

Makes a change to the likes of sonu nigam and Tony kakkar
